^^ Quote fail.
FFS let him go. A part of me also wants to see him at Barca. I think he'll do great there
I do sort of agree with this , but I also think he needs a new challenge, yes I know your going to say He plays for United what more of a challenge does he need, but everybody gets bored in thier place of work and wants a change.
Or..... maybe, just maybe, the issue is nowhere near as big as the media have made it out to be?
Must have been, Ive never heard SAF say that one. Do you have any links to SAF saying that at all?Where did I ever say that SAF ever said that?
Were you asleep during the 2012/13 season?

Would have taken a swap with Mata but I don't think Rooney will be leaving in this window. Not that I don't rate Rooney, but if he really wants to go (can't take anymore of his shit behaviour); and the Mata reports that he is on the market are true. I really think we could take a world class player, and younger, in Mata. Having Mata playing on the wing with Kagara in the middle and RVP upfront is mouth watering.

So how come everybody is reporting that Rooney is staynig, and the odds have gone to something like 1/9, but it's hardly got a mention in this thread?

I can't see him ending his career at United but getting him to sign an extension will only benefit us in the future.Hope that is correct and he signs new deal and buckles down but my gut feeling is he'll stay another season and the engineer a move to either Real or Barca at a cut price deal!
I say it again: our best player is going nowhere. End of.

If he stays we have to tie him down. We can't afford to lose him for nothing, and in hindsight, despite being very open to the idea of him leaving I don't think it'd be beneficial to anyone other than someone who bought him.So another chunky contract for him I guess, disappointing.

Hold on, they're going to hang Fergie out to dry according to the Express article.
I think hang him out to dry is a bit dramatic. But I do think that unless they actually give us a clear and plausible explanation for what actually did happen, nobody will believe a word of what Rooney says. Just "Oh, that didn't acutally happen" won't cut the mustard.
I hope we don't offer him a pay-rise, BUT IF WE DO surely that says that the club desperately want to keep him at United? Compared to the club, we know a nice-sweet feck all about the on-goings of our players. The papers know feck all too. But we seem to be lapping the stories they share about Rooney.
If the club thought Rooney was driving himself to an early grave or ruining his career with a bad lifestyle, then we wouldn't offer him a new contract. It's that fecking easy.
I think moving forwards with Kagawa as a '10 would be more beneficial to us, I'm just sick of Rooney in general, we all gave him more than enough leeway and only 2 years on he starts up again.
I think perhaps he's had a reality check - and it might result in a "change of heart".
Footballers surround themselves with "yes men", and agents who will be constantly preening their egos. I suspect Wayne thought that once he might be on the move the worlds top clubs would be banging his door down to sign him and he'd either get a lucrative move to a superstar side, or another increase at United and guarantees of being picked.
It seems that hasnt happened, his options are now limited and he might be realising he's maybe not quite the hot property he thinks he is.

Rooney's not going to acknowledge any of hits faults here is he? Oh and he and friend Stretford squeeze some more cash out of the club too no doubt. Like as not Kagawa Hernandez e.t.c. will still be seen as on an equal footing with Wayne.
Today's press conference may yet dispel such assumptions but otherwise, this is a mistake.
With all the talk of him going to Chelsea, would you mind a Mata plus cash deal?
Its more then a mistake, its disgusting. Never have the club bent over backwards like this for anyone player.
If he gets a new contract, unless of vastly reduced wages, then we're a joke. Simple as that.
I would leave him on the same wage but add another another year onto his contract but knowing his agent he will probably come out of this with another pay rise.
