RVP misses far too many easy chances when compared to Rooney. Fortunately, he scores some of the tougher ones and one's he has missed haven't turned out to be all that important barring the Madrid one.

As for missing the chips, RVP has wild swings at the ball which tend to end up in the top tier at least twice a game compared to Rooney trying the those lobs maybe once in every 4 or 5 games

RvP had a very unfortunate spell when he missed presentable opportunities against Madrid an then City in the FA Cup replay.

I think he's had a very good debut season, but I'm left feeling it could have been even better tbh.

My sources tell me we'll pay 40 miilion for Blooney which you'll use toward the Bale purchase. Everyones happy apart from Spurs which, in turn, amuses everyone else.

I'm a huge Rooney fan but I accept it's probably the irght time for him to move on.

If this is the outcome then I'd be delighted.

40m for Rooney would be a hard deal to turn down for the club considering the circumstances.

If Duncan Ferguson is still a part of the backroom staff team of Moyes and considering the fact of highly Moyes spoke about Rooney, there might still be a slight chance that Rooney could stay at United as Duncan Ferguson was his idol growing up..etc. But yeah, 40 million is definitely worth considering if both parties agree on Rooney wanting to leave.

£40m for Rooney would be a good deal although I still hate the thought of him playing for a rival English club. Getting Bale and playing Kagawa in his proper position sounds quite exciting though it has to be said.

I'd rather take 30m from a foreign club to be honest. And surely we should be having the money to sign Bale without the need to sell Rooney inside England? Unless Rooney doesnt want to move outside England, which is also likely.

I don't want him to stay for any little facts like that, his dad could come on the backroom staff and id want him to be sold. He's burned his bridges at United now there's only one way for him to go.

Bale Kagawa and possibly Nani if he stays would be quite exciting in a 4231. A line of 3 that is totally interchangeable.

Yep, feel the same. He could easily be the deciding factor in future title races if he moved to Chelsea.

If Rooney doesn't want to leave England, tough luck. He should have thought of that before requesting a transfer.

Its insane if its to a rival.

hes had a supposedly poor season, been played out of position and yet goals and assists has been involved in 23 of our goals.

Add even that level of performance to chelsea's squad and they are right up at our points total this year , as always with rooney, he plays better when hes got a point to prove, so likely they will get an even bigger boost.

I'm amazed after last summer and how many people were laughing at the arse for selling to us, people are clamoring for us to do the exact same thing.

People need to seperate rooney the man from the football player who contributes to us or our rivals. If he isnt with us, the very, very worst thing we can do is have him playing against us. It should be PSG or nowhere.

I wouldnt be unhappy if that was the outcome tbh.

Although watching Rooney play for Chelsea would be quite upsetting.

i agree it would be insane to sell to a rival

only City and Chelsea could afford his wages - why would we sell him and strengthen them?

someone posted the other day and I have to agree - City or Chelsea buying Rooney would give the side a boost a bit like us buying RVP last season

we know this and Moyes will know this - Rooney will stay most likely - small chance he will end up at Madrid/PSG

Exactly. Am all for selling a player who doesnt want to be here but selling him To chelsea will Be a bitter pill to swallow. He'd be great for them and given the team they already Have, could be decisive next season. Much rather sell im broad for 10mil less even.

Chelsea certainly would have a hell of a team if they get him. With Mourinho looking likely to join them again and this crazy rumours that Ronaldo might too they would walk the league I fear.
Don't believe the Ronaldo rumour myself though, nor do I think we would sell Rooney to Chelsea.

Mourinho wouldn't play that front 4 IMO. He likes his grafters.

Even though I think he's an excellent manager I think the team they're trying to assemble really isn't suited to his style.

Di María, Özil, Ronaldo, Híguain/Benzema was his front four most of the time at Madrid. Where are the "grafters" here? If any of them qualifies as a grafter then Rooney most certainly does as well.

I can't believe the amount of our own fans who are blase about selling one of our best players to Chelsea. fecking Chelsea. We'd get to watch out star player romp to an easy title win without us, and some of you fecks are fine with this because we might get 40 million out of it? So we're Arsenal now, are we?

Di Maria is an extremely hard worker if you ask me. Ozil offers more defensively than either Oscar or Hazard too.

Besides, at Chelsea he's not under the same sort of pressure to play attacking football so he won't.

Why would that be the case?

Because if we lose Rooney we would be massively weakened, and we all know we won't spend the money to compensate for that loss. Whereas Chelsea are going to spend massively, and look to finally be getting a good manager in. We sell them one of, if not the, best players in our squad, and we won't even get close to them.

As per usual on RedCafe a rival squad is being massively over rated and ours equally under rated.

You're happy to make all these presumptions about Chelsea doing this and that and United doing feck all. Fact is we know feck all at this stage.

If Chelsea spunk 40mil on Rooney and 9mil on Mourinho then they won't be adding many more.

Don't care if we sell him abroad, to PSG or whatever, but I would detest seeing him turn out for Chelsea or City. Despite the bridge-burning, I think I'd rather we persuaded him to stay than see him revitalise his career under our rich and powerful title rivals.

So basicly you are saying that Rooney is the only reason we win anything, and without him we wont win anything.

Yeah, that sounds like Chelsea allright...

Wayne Rooney has been a massive part of our recent success. I don't get how this is even remotely controversial. Losing him would be massively detrimental to our hopes of continuing that success, unless we spend enormously to replace him, which we won't.

Yes because obviously Chelsea are gunna buy numerous World Class players and appoint Mourinho whilst we'll spend feck all, sell our best player and have only got David fecking Moyes...

Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Rooney? feck me, that's better than anything we could put out. And no we're not going to sign Gareth Bale, by the time Levy had finished with us we'd have another half-billion in debts...

Bale, Kagawa, Valencia, Welbeck, Hernandez, RVP (nani).

I think we look strong. If we can exchange Bale for Rooney, and get in a quality midfielder, I think we are all good.

Yeah, that sounds like Chelsea allright...

Nobody is saying that he has not been a massive part of our success, but you are saying without him we would be rubbish, which is just bollocks.
We have lost better players than Rooney before and will again, we are not a one man team.

Nani Kagawa Bale
Van Persie

Is certainly top drawer but that hypothetical Chelsea front 4 could be sensational.

We've lost bigger and better players than Rooney before and still managed to be successful.

Utter cowardice. Omg we won't win without Rooney blah blah blah, we have lost far more influential players in the past, cantona, keane, becks, ronaldo , rvn and done just fine thank you, we aren't suddenly going to implode because we loose the toxteth dough boy. And if you really think the glazers aren't going to back our new manager with some serious funds you are very misguided.

None of those to a English rival though. There's a huge difference in Rooney joining PSG than him joining Chelsea.

How many of those better players did we lose to our direct title rivals? Losing Rooney will be terrible for this football club, losing him to Chelsea would be an unmitigated disaster. Fortunately our club is run by people far wiser than the average fan, and they will know that well enough to surely do anything in their power to prevent it from happening.

Still, the idea of selling one of our best players to a direct rival is simply stupid. Cutting our losses on Verón and foisting Silvestre on Arsenal weren't comparable to selling Rooney to a Chelsea side to be managed by Mourinho.
