no i don't and i don't think anyone else do either considering just how wide open our midfield was defensively all season

the ONLY game it wasn't like that was the FA Cup final against City

90% of the time we defended tactically in a 4231 so the 8 was playing in the double pivot role defensively and then played higher up the pitch once in possession

that still could be done with two 6's in the starting XI just to help solidify the middle
Or we could address the midfield without creating new problems that need solutions, or returning to Ole ball (due to a weak midfield)... but what do I know?

The thing is he has improved alot of things like his heading under ten hag - but all it takes is one goal beaten by the opposition corner through a whole season for the fans to go back and say that he is crap at heading. He makes a slide tackle whilst playing LB when he is the best slide tackler in the world on the right and then suddenly he has low IQ or concentration according to his haters.

He has improved his all round game &his weaknesses are keeping players onside, crossing and jogging back when he is very high up the pitch.

All other weaknesses for me are overstated.

Like, i think he is good enough for a possesion team whilst others dont. He doesn't lose the ball much or at all. Either short passes or great dribbles to get easily out of high presses.

Just because his crossing is crap doesn't mean he is crap in possesion which is two different things.

City's fullback's don't play a crossing game from their fullbacks who are predominantly CB's themselves. Just because they dont cross doesnt mean they are bad in possesion.

Some fans like @Oranges038 calling him one of our worst signings ever is crazy. I can name down so many of Wan Bissaka's top performances for United off the top of my head & until this season was equal in quality to most people to Dalot. Has never been a flop.

He is the Declan Rice of RB. People who don't rate Rice pre-arsenal probably don't rate wan bissaka because they focus purely on on the ball ability that off the ball ability.

Agreed. He’s not poor at keeping possession, his creativity is not great. But that’s two different things.
Some fans will never be happy no matter what he does at this point, it doesn’t fit this internet narrative that he’s a poor footballer.

Where have I said that? You've made up a completely random argument and then accuse me of chatting shite
 ok maybe it wasnt you but it's been said enough in here and whenever I see your posts they do tend to be...... Let's say scathing

I actually checked the AWB thread to see if I actually said that

To be fair I don't think I was too far off with this post with Everton coming in for him:
He's a mid table player. Can do a job if you're wanting to play anti football but will let you down if you ask more of him. Will be moved on in the summer if we have any sense.

He is not very good under pressure and tends to rush passes. He simply isn't good on the ball. On top, he lacks concentration & can be very lackadasical in getting back. He actually is a poor footballer for a team that wants to play football. He can be a revelation at Everton where they sit back and defend for most of the game.

Name me the current players who are all completely calm under pressure at United. You could probably count them on 3 fingers

I do not want him sold. Games like the fa cup final show we have nobody like him in the squad who can lock up an opponent winger.

You got no arguments there from me, buddy. Its the primary reason we are such a poor team and play such awful football.

Did I hear the commentator say Shaw warms up but limps back to the dugout ?

I always find valuations set by United fans bemusing. I’m constantly seeing how we should bite anyone’s hand off for £15m for Wan-Bissaka, yet you see various mediocre players command £30+ transfer fees.

The likes of Elliot Anderson, Ian Maatsen and Minteh (who is 19 and I don’t believe he’s ever featured for Newcastle) are all going for in excess of £30m.

That kind of money gets you a bog-standard PL player or a bit of potential that might or might not work out. No one can justify the three players above and then say we should settle for less than £15m.

Wan-Bissaka has far, far more pedigree at a decent standard than those three players.

They all are much younger with far higher potential and also on long term contracts. AWB is a limited player entering the final year of his deal, he can do a job in the PL but big clubs are not signing him so the choice is take 15M or let him walk on a free next summer.

Minteh doesn’t have a Premier League minute to his name and Anderson is distinctly average. Last year of contract or not, you can’t tell me they’re worth 2x as much.

Maatsen I’ll grant has a bit more clout behind him but not the other two.

So if AWB was playing for another team would you want us to pay more than15M to sign him?
I mean he’s a pretty decent Premier League standard player so I wouldn’t blame other clubs for demanding over £20m for him. £15m is fecking peanuts now.

Lesser players have gone for more, some even comfortably more - just like at the fees Chelsea receive for certain players.

Just because he’s not at the standard Man United aspire for, does not make him a bad player.

Don't understand that no mid table or lower table team in PL don't want him and willing to pay some, he's won cups and he is great at defending, pretty sure he'd do well for a smaller club than Utd, had horrible games here but also great ones

@ForFuchsSake it’s a combination of multiple things. Wan Bissaka is undoubtedly on much higher salary than any of those players you mention. That lessens transfer fee price.

Next, he has a year left on his contract. Again, another mitigating factor to lessen any proposed fee.

After that, you’re looking at a combination of things — Man Utd being poor sellers; us wanting to sell him basically at the lowest point of his career here; and probably most importantly, not massive resale value on the guy.

You mention the Minteh and Anderson guys — I think both of these have some elements of financial cooking/manipulation for PSR rules (the latter especially). Notwithstanding that, on the Minteh one — Brighton play the market. They know their role is to increase exposure and flip players like that on for bigger sums. If he doesn’t work, it’ll be one of Pedro, Ferguson, Enciso, or one of the other sub-21 year olds they’ve stockpiled on.

I take your point but the issue with the player is that he is 12 months away from a free transfer. A player in the last year of their contract, especially one who it is widely assumed won’t be getting an extension, is going to sell at a significant discount.

He is fully amortized at this point so we can bank 15M in pure profit or accept we get nothing next summer. Now the discussion is do we need a back up FB for 12 months more than we need 15M? I expect our incomings will provide clarity around the question.

The players you mention Nd their fees all seem part if a larger scheme; no way is this legit other than bypassing financial regulations.
