Virgil van Dijk | Performances

Hopefully they appeal it and win so they have to play him for the next 3 games. Every time i watch them he's costing them goals.

Its a one match ban obviously. That’s the rule.

They've actually come down on one of the cnuts. Expect Klopp to have a moan at his next press conference

I had a look on RAWK and their opinion on what he said/did is that they always get victimised and punished by the FA, which funnily enough you couldn't make up, because they have been getting away with all sorts for years.

What did he say
I can't recall exactly, from memory I think he called the ref a "F**King Disgrace" or something along those lines.

If you had the replay from when VAR check completed, he was asked to leave the field and could be clearly seen verbally abusing the referee

Told him to go feck himself

They actually punished him!!

Looks like someone didn’t get the memo, now they’ll get the rub of the green on every decision from now to the end of the season to make up for it.

Its a one match ban obviously. That’s the rule.

That’s the rule for the red card offence he committed (and it would be ‘obvious‘ if that were all he’d done) but he refused to leave the pitch when sent off, which is a separate offence that should add to the length of the ban, and he stood for a prolonged period screaming abuse in the referees face on live TV, which is another offence that should add to the length of the ban.
He also hurled abuse at the 4th official as he left the pitch, which if judged separately from the effing he gave the referee should also add to the length of the ban.
I hope that they follow the rules, tot up the offences, and ban him for 4 games and I recon he’ll be very lucky to get anything less than a 3 game ban.

He’s a nasty piece of work, takes after his manager.

Is it not a three match ban for a straight red or am I mistaken?

The FA choose to uphold the one match suspension and will add an additional £60k fine to the charge.

I really, really hope he called this ref and all refs fecking cnuts. Many times. I'll take the four batch ban for that. We have Gomey baby, man was he awesome or what. And Matip. Still buzzing after that comeback.

VvD will be back before they're both out injured for the rest of the season.

I’d prefer him not to get a ban. Man’s been trading on past reputation for a good 18 months and shat himself whenever anybody actually ran at him.

iirc it’s 1 for being the last man and fouling a player heading towards goal or for abusing the officials or for refusing to leave the pitch, 3 for a straight red for violent conduct, 6 for a red for spitting.
But (also iirc) they tot the offences up so that a red for the last man fouling a player heading towards goal + refusing to leave the pitch + abusing the referee (all of which he did on live TV) = a 3 match ban.
Not sure if his abusing the 4th official after eventually leaving the pitch will get him an additional 1 game ban on top of that but IMO it certainly should.

His competition in Liverpool are Gomez and Matip. Can't decide which is better - VVD getting a ban or not getting a ban?

I think he just got a fine for that one. Which is fine, he's shite now so it's better if he's on the pitch.
There’s been no official word on it though has there?

I saw “set to be handed an extra game” somewhere and thought that sounded very low considering they are trying to enforce respect to the referee this season with yellows instantly handed for talking back.

You’d think standing there refusing to leave the field, while swearing at the referee and then giving the fourth official a mouthful on your way off the pitch and having to be ushered away by your manager might be made an example of even if it is Liverpool.

Well, I'm asking you, you posted this!

But yeah of course I agree on principle, his behaviour was disgraceful.

"Of the 49 centre-backs to have started 5+ matches in the Premier League this season, only Virgil van Dijk is yet to be dribbled past"

Am just going to leave this here

Was just watching highlights of some weekend games and there was a situation at the end of the Liverpool game where a Luton player was attacking the left hand side of Liverpool box.
VvD did his usual thing of defending from 5 yards away. Luton player ran past him easily and put a cross in.
Not sure how that doesn’t count as being dribbled past.

If you don't actually defend, you don't have a chance of getting dribbled past.

He's a specialist at this. It was more efficient before his injury, but even then he'd be very non committal in his defending. It's reached comical levels since after his return from injury though.
