Vinicius Junior

First hits a keeper, and then wants to fight the referee, how long should he be banned for? Being Real Madrid player I reckon for one game. Imagine the length of a ban if one of our player wanted to kick the referee

Wonder why that is....I mean, it's not like we can trace this behaviour pretty much exactly with the beginning of one of the most vile racial abuse campaigns a player has suffered in decades....

Have the keeper and referee racially abused him or he will just kick random people because some other random idiots are racially abusing him in completely irrelevant incidents led to this?

Can we? You'd know better so it's a genuine question, I don't watch Madrid week in week out. I felt like he was always acting like that — diving, constantly arguing with other players and officials etc., but I don't really know the timeline. And it may be a retroactive thing (as in my memory playing tricks on me).
He was, but he wasn't any more out of control than say, a Bruno Fernandes. This level of lack of self-control tracks with the start of the racist campaign against him across nearly every away ground in Spain
A quick google points to the game against Barcelona in 2021 as the first racist incident against Vini after which there were so many but maybe there were different ones earlier on that went unreported (I'd assume so)? Or did he really change that much since 2021/22 in terms of his behaviour?
The start of 22/23 is when it really kicked off
Edit: I can't really imagine how it was playing under such scrutiny and constant abuse. But I'm not sure if I'd attribute all of his behaviour to that.
Maybe it isn't, but the correlation is obvious at least, and ultimately it just pisses me off when people act like he's just an idiot for lacking self-control. It's a very real issue of his and one he needs professional help for

There's a clear correlation between Vini's behaviour and the abuse he gets, with almost every time the former leading to the latter. It's strange how some people pretend not to see it. He was beyond pathetic yesterday.

Valencia fans were blatantly racist, no doubt about that. But Vinicius attitude and antics are fuel to all the hate he receives and yesterday he was acting miserable. Was the referee being racist too? If Valencia fans are so racist why is it they don’t go and also bully the rest of Madrid’s squad? More than half of their starting eleven are black/non-spaniards and I don’t see a bunch of racists trolling them as it happens with poor innocent Vini.

Oh, and it’s laughable that Madrid fans complaint when Barcelona files injunctions against red cards or the Dani Olmo case but if it’s Vinicius wanting to kick a referee it’s fine, ban him for 2 matches. Not saying I approve any of the clubs decisions but both benefit form their status and like to jump over the rules. If this was Almería or any other team it would be 10 matches ban for a direct agression.

So… people racially abuse Vinicius because of his antics?

It wasn’t phrased well but I believe the poster meant that by now Vini is behaving like a cnut and then gets abused which leads to him spiraling. Make no mistake, the guy needs professional help but everyone shouting racist shit at him should go to jail and receive a lifetime ban.

Unfortunately, yes. They hate Vini because of his antics and use racial insults to hurt him. That's what a lot of people do in life. It's an explanation, not a justification. If they hated Vini purely because of his skin colour, then the other black players at Madrid would have been targeted as well. To my knowledge they haven't. Besides the racial abuse against him is a rare occurence, found mainly at Atleti and Valencia. Usually he just gets booed at away stadiums and that's it. Only him, not his teammates.

I think he showed his true colours when he had that embarrassing tantrum over the stupid little football award show. Just can't warm to him after that.

On this red card though, the keepers theatrics were pathetic.

He needs to learn how to channel his frustrations into the game to his advantage.

Maybe I'm suffering from dementia, but I can't recall this level of vitriol from opposing crowds since Ronaldo in England after that world cup. So I'm not dismissing these hurt feelings from him. That said, I don't see this changing anytime soon, because he loves the attention AND there are a few to many idiots who may shout something offensive or racist to try and throw him off.

And I don't think his seniors from Brazil are well experienced to explain the challenges that come with this sort of vitriol that has a racial tinge as part of mentoring him.

I honestly think he needs to reach out to several athletes across all sports who have similar travails and can relate to his background and journey. Basketball comes to mind. He may need a translator, but he needs to speak to Michael Jordan and LeBron James*.

The potential for all time greatness is there. He just needs to channel everything that is being thrown at him into fuel for his ambitions. There's no one else like him in today's game, would be a waste of his tantrums are the memory most are left with.

*I initially thought of Terrell Owens

Easily the most unhinged and odious little twat of a player in recent memory, and that's saying something considering Brazil had plenty of them with Diego Costa and Neymar leading the line.
