Victor Osimhen

One might ask that if one was ignoring the fact he lives and works in Turkey and the reports are "originating from the players camp".

It's very likely bollocks, but you don't need to imagine reasons for it to be bollocks than can be easily explained.

Either way, there's no reason to believe any of it given the source is Turkish media and the fact that even reputable journos often simply publish speculation to drive traffic to their socials. This is the unfortunate state of sports journalism today.

I did a google search. Maybe I'm misreading this ? Maybe he still earns 160k but the Galatasaray share is only ~100k

The answer is tax rates

Getting info from aggregator accounts is probably a good indication it isn't true.
Yeah and the fact when you do a bit of googling many of these sources are Fenerbahce ones. Not exactly reliable when he's a Galatasaray player.

Agreeing terms with the player means feck all anyway considering Napoli will price us out of it.

Of course they do, but he's had a cracking year in Turkey. He'll be too expensive.

Don't think Napoli will be the problem. Their ask is around 70M and a good season in a lower tier league where he has also been taking all the penalties is not going to move the needle on his value. Where we may well be priced out is the player wages. He had a good offer from Saudi last year that he wanted to take and supposedly they are coming back for him in the next window and guys like Ornstein are reporting that the expectation amongst PL clubs is that Saudi is where he ends up.

If he wants to play in Saudi for the money that doesn't suggest he has the right mental attitude for us anyway. He's in his prime age wise, shouldn't be looking for a last pay day before retirement.

Doesn’t matter if he had a cracking year or not he has a release clause,1 year left on his contract, and both parties want to part ways. Napoli doesn’t have standing in a negotiation.

Of course they have a standing. We aren't going to be the only interested party, and thus Napoli will have an asking price.

Cant see this happening without Napoli reviving Garnacho interest and United biting the bullet. I wouldn't sell Garnacho but who knows this summer

Would do it if that's what it took

Me neither, theres a chance we have a decentish relationship with them after the McTominay deal last summer, and obviously we spoke around Ganracho time. He's done well in Turkey so if any of the clubs that can actual win games against teams above them in their league want him, I'm not sure we'd have much hope.

What big clubs would be in for him? I can't see Madrid being interested, likewise I suspect Bayern will stick with Kane. Would Napoli sell to Serie A rival and who could afford him from there? As far as i can tell you'd be looking at Saudi, Psg, Arsenal or us. Maybe Barca, but don't know what their finances are.

If we only signed Osimhen and Cunha I'd be happy. Other areas needed obviously but our attack needs a full refit.

Apparently Romano has said we are interested in him, however can't get away from Whitwell saying Delap top target and Ornstein saying he has heard Saudi bound too

I think wel keep in close contact with all the targets - Cunha, Delap, Osimhen. Wel get personal terms agreed as much as we can and pending clarity on our finances in the coming weeks, wel secure according to our shortlist and circumstances.

I'm sure osimhen is on this list, Whitwell said he hasn't been cooled on the sources he has on the club which means there's definitely interest.

Probably my first choice from the names being mentioned. He just has that edge you want in a striker. A threat in all attacking situations.

Whitwell hinted very strongly that we are interested. Where did he say he was Saudi bound? As I remember it he said he agreed with Saudi and Chelsea last summer so we know theyl he an option.

Just had a re read of Ornstein speaking about Chelsea and he actually said he thinks the salary wouldn't work for PL suitors. So people think he is likely to end up in Saudi Arabia

Whitwell I recall said that Osimhen is believed to have lowered his wage demands. This I think was when he was on Stretford Paddock. He also said when he's asked about osimhen to the club he wasn't turned away and they didn't cool the links which makes him think there's genuine interest.

Hmmm you would think if that's the case then it would have been reiterated by him on the Talk of the Devils podcast today, instead he apparently just said Delap is top attacking target.

So its Delap, Osimhen, Gyokeres, Watkins?

Which one would be worth persuing?

She is apparently a source for the aggregator tweet, but if you go to her twitter page, there's nothing to be found. And yet she's reposting the aggregator tweet.

It's the grandfather paradox. Her reposting the tweet is the source that they're tweeting.

In an ideal world we'd get them but unsure if we can afford to.

Yeah completely agree, cannot for the life of me understand why Delap is seen above those two in the eyes of senior board members. Definitely makes you question their decision making.

I'm guessing its the pricetag that Osimhen and Gyokeres would come with in additon to wage demands. We are apparently on the verge of scooping up another talented youth player so it looks like we're trying to moneyball some of our transfer activity.

We need someone proven whatever it costs as it's the biggest issue in the team right now

I agree but just looking at how we're already penny pinching it doesn't give me a lot of confidence we'd go all in for Osimhen or Gyokeres.

Oh yeah have zero confidence we'd go all in for either of them even with Europa League win

Long term financial impact. If Delap fails, it's no biggie. If Osi/Gyo fail, club's screwed for X number of seasons

He would cost 55m in 5 years. Yes it's a biggie. Risk of him failing is quite high as he is not that good.
