he looks promising and, while I can see other options I'd like to see us consider, I remember that Mourinho's other CB signing for us was Bailly, and I reckon I'll trust the manager.
Depth is important, you're right, but spending over 30m for cover? I mean, you certainly have the money so why not I guess...Nothing wrong with getting more depth. We don't have proper cover for Valencia and he'll be 32 in some months. Darmian has to cover it at the moment and you won't find United fan who's happy with that. TFM is only 18 and despite being a huge prospect he's not ready. Who else is left..Young? So yes, we need a backup there.
As for CB position, we need more depth there too. What happens if Jones goes to glue factory again or Rojo gets injured/gets 3 match ban for another reckless start while Bailly is on ACON? If he isn't injured too. Smalling barely played this season due to injuries and he wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire for a while prior to that. No one wants to see Blind as a cover there.
Getting a 22 year old massive prospect as a backup and potential first choice in season or 2 is good investment in the future while also covering potential short term problems.
Do Chelsea really need any more CBs?To be honest I'd have Smalling at Chelsea. Think Conte could work with him quite easily.
If you watch Cahill as much as a Chelsea fan does you'd know the answer to that.Do Chelsea really need any more CBs?
When is Zouma scheduled to return? If you watch Cahill as much as a Chelsea fan does you'd know the answer to that.
I really want Van Dijk next month. He and Luiz would be immense.
He's back now. First time back on the bench against Palace. When is Zouma scheduled to return?
Djilobodji and Miazga were fairly well known to have been club signings rather than requested by Jose and Miazga didn't actually sign until after Jose had left. Kalas was signed in 2010, Rahman is a left back and Wallace is a right back who was signed in 2012He desperately wanted Stones and when that failed he signed Djilobodji, Tomas Kalas, Abdul Baba, Wallace and Matt Miazga after failing to get Aymen Abdennour. Djilobodji was 26 and only played for Chelsea once, the others were all 21-22 and are all currently on loan. I think Mourinho is just obessed with defenders

So we buy another youngster who is not rated by anyone of note save for a few good games????
Didnt Castles says Jose wants experienced players in the next windows because he has too may young players who are still developing in the squad?
And why do we need a CB? Promote Tuanzebe or Williams.
I don't think those two have a chance unfortunately. Under Jose. I could be wrong.
I'd say he's closer to Vidic than Rio aswell tbh.For someone who has only watched a couple of YouTube videos on him, is Lindelof the Rio to Bailly's Vidic? In really simple terms?
Yeah? He looks like he can play a bit as well? Not a proper sweeper, but comfortable covering. And he's nicknames the Iceman.I'd say he's closer to Vidic than Rio aswell tbh.
€70m, who's going to pay that.Wait for Laporte anybody?
One of José's first comments about was regarding Tuanzebe and how he immediately sees his quality on a daily basis. I think we are all far too eager to see these youngster thrown into the first team before they're ready (psychologically) and then wonder why players are ruined by the time reach 30 (just look at Rooney, Owen etc). The media are already getting on Rashford's back and he's 19!
Just because Jose isn't putting out a team with Tuanzebe, Williams, TFM, Gomes and Chong it doesn't mean Jose will never ever bring in youth.
He doesn't. Van Dijk is miles ahead in development of Lindelof. A common trait could be that both can play a good ball and don't panic under pressure. How does he compare against Van Djik?

I'd prefer to give Fosu Mensah a chance to be back up RB to be honest.Dont know about his credibility but this is what I found from twitter of this guy called Jonas Giaever.
"A thing that most don't mention regarding Victor Nilsson Lindelöf; he's about as comfortable as a central defender as he is a right back."
"In fact, Lindelöf was named as a right back in the "team of the tournament" at the under-21 European Championship in 2015. Sweden won it."
So if he is right may be jose believes lindelof can become a ivanovic type of player in future?
Agreed. He's had very limited first team opportunity this season, so he hasn't had the chance to prove himself. Rojo and Jones' performances in recent weeks are prime examples of what can happen when given the opportunity.I'd prefer to give Fosu Mensah a chance to be back up RB to be honest.

i trust Mourinnho.

They've got a terrible reputation in fairness. Wouldn't be surprised to see Benfica laugh of these rumours tomorrow. But maybe O Jogo can redeem themselves from years of made up gibberish by getting it correct for once. I won't get too excited over this one until a proper source prints something that looks credible.I don't trust OJogo. Is this happening or is it another Gaitan/Garay?
Well Duncan Castles says there is definite interest. They've got a terrible reputation in fairness. Wouldn't be surprised to see Benfica laugh of these rumours tomorrow.
