US Politics

Stop it with the purple hair color, shit obviously be seepin' through.

America is just two right wing parties. Sad state of affairs.

Indeed. It's why I scoff at "liberal/leftist" comments by randoms on social media and in public. We're a right-leaning, authoritative republic. The people may be more split to true liberal/progressive vs conservative views but the corporate and political world are one-sided. And they call the shots.

Absolutely

You listen to Biden talk about ACA and how the Dem party behaves and you feel bad for progressives in America. They're fighting a loosing battle. They should just relocate to another country. Biden was talking about Medicare for all like it's an alien concept that has never been tried before.

This one's so beautiful I just might cry:

Crofton Noose Suspect Not Guilty Of Hate Crime
A Pasadena man charged with a hate crime for leaving a noose at a Crofton school has been found not guilty.

Anne Arundel County [Maryland] Judge Paul Harris Jr. said prosecutors didn't prove Havermann acted out of hatred since they didn't name a specific victim harmed by the act, the Capital-Gazette reports. "The State did not produce any evidence that the Defendant harbored any animus or ill will towards the African-American principal, the African-American teacher whose classroom was directly exposed to the noose, or any individual person," Harris wrote.

A middle finger to Pelosi from AOC

The Speaker’s Dragonzord
@PelosiSquadFive

1st Gen Asian-American attorney. Observations on electoral strategy, national politics, & the SCOTUS.#NewDemocrat; no patience for performative #Resistance

If anyone has a problem with how @SpeakerPelosi conducts the House's business, they can write their Congressman. Until then, this manufactured drama from four out of 235 members of the Democratic Caucus is a waste of everyone's time.

these people are so good

Here's AOC exposing the Republican party and shining a light on those states that continue to vote against their own interests .

So whats with this new executive order on the census, even after the supreme court rejected the question?.

Does the president have real power to overrule all the other departments?. If so, have any other democrats used it in the past?

No the president does not have absolute power.

Andrew Jackson openly defied a SC ruling before with no repercussion I think

Your statements seems contradictory to me.

So, say if Trump was to sign an executive order against, say, Roe vs Wade, what branch of government can stop him?

That was in the early 1800s. It was (and is) an illegal act to defy the Supreme Court. The problem is that in a case of overreach by one branch (in this case the President and the Executive branch), it falls on Congress to compensate by impeachment. They didn't bother to impeach Jackson back then (I think).

So it remains to be seen what would happen if Trump defied a Supreme Court ruling. The onus would fall on Congress to kick him out.

Kind of. In the ruling of Worcester v. Georgia the SCOTUS made a ruling in favor of the natives, but did not require the federal government to send authorities to enforce it, so there was nothing really for Jackson to do.

Ah. His saying "let Marshall enforce it" has always stuck.

Is that Carla Provost in the photo?

Cause... https://theintercept.com/2019/07/12...rovost-was-a-member-of-secret-facebook-group/

Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost Was a Member of Secret Facebook Group

--For Provost, a veteran of the Border Patrol who was named head of the agency in August 2018, the group’s existence and content should have come as no surprise. Three months after her appointment to chief, Provost herself had posted in the group, then known as “I’m 10-15,” now archived as “America First X 2.” Provost’s comment was innocuous — a friendly clapback against a group member who questioned her rise to the top of the Border Patrol — but her participation in the group, which she has since left, raises serious questions.--
