One of the lads today was telling me about seeing Andy Murray on Soccer AM where he admitted that he hated seeing England winning? Something like that. I never heard it before? Was he talking shit or does anybody know anything about it?

Murray did brilliantly to make it to the final in the first place. Runner up is fantastic for him.

He's a jock?

What do you expect.

Yeah he did. I personally think he was taking the piss. But who cares if he wasn't, plenty of English people hate seeing England winning.

Shame it hasn't been a contest really, this is hardly going down as a classic

He'll be accused of bottling it, the excuse will be he hasn't had enough rest. At the end of the day, he just wasn't good enough on the day. A fantastic opportunity lost, but at least he and his doubters now know he's capable of reaching grand slam finals. This won't be his last, but I think he needs to sort something mentally because he's lost it a tad here

He jokingly replied to the question "who do you want to win the world cup?"
with "oh being a Scot, anyone but England." It was quite obviously tongue in cheek, but it doesn't read that way.

I am glad to see Federer winning. He is a great player and needs to break the grand slam record.

I cann't wait to see Murray's First serve percentage - It must be shit

It usually is, that's something he really needs to work on more than anything else. let's him down, just like then.

Was averaging 86% with Nadal and 79% with Del Porto - some of the best figures in the tournament

Congrats Federer, and well done Murray for making a grand slam final.

Well done Fed -

Unlucky Murray - unlike Greg Rudeski, you'll be back

Well done Federer. Murray's got about 10 years to go one step further.

Well done Roger, he had a point to prove to himself more than anything i think. And well done Andy, great to see a British lad that can compete with the best, his time will come.

65% with Nadal actually.

Well played Fed.

No 86% of points won on First serve - Not talking about first service in

But we'll agree he was woeful in that department today when he needed a big serve

Sorry my man - may be wrong, but I was talking stats earlier on Betfair and 86% was the figure thrown up. He didn't lose 2 points in a service game until the first game in third set

That is universally known as the "serves in" percentage.

You get that figure later United Red - Percentage of First service points won on his first serve.

Anyhow Unlucky to the lad and I hope he goes away with his head held high

Disappointed Murray could not even take a set but its not all doom and gloom. After winning Cincinatti it was important to prove he could carry it on to a grand slam and he got better as the tournament went on. Beating Nadal and getting to his first final is huge but he just did not perform today, even when taking Federer's extra rest etc into consideration. He is definitely the best of the rest and has pulled away from the likes of bloody Davydenko, he will get better as well. Hopefully, he carries it on and solidifies himself amongst the top three players.

This 1000th post is dedicated to those who thought Federer was finished.

Take that.

I wish I was e-famous and had someone to thank but I've only been here a month.

Roger needs a few tattoos on his arms. Would make him look harder.

Especially after kissing N.Y. ass so much :smirk:
