The olympics should be the peak of a person's career ffs.
Why are people trying to turn it into a political thing?

I'm not, I'm just wondering where his loyalties lie. I think McIlroy is great and it doesn't matter to me where he's from or what is religion is. But he seems to support the British & Irish. For example, he supports the England Cricket team and the Irish Rugby Union team.

Im the same on this.
its more a media thing in my little world, I have notedthe media coverage in Ireland is like he's the new IRISH hero and in the UK he is the new BRITTISH.
They are both claiming him as their own.
I am just interested in what he thinks himself.
As far as im concerned I couldnt give a fiddlers fanny if he's from the moon.

Basically he's a young lad that doesnt give a feck.
Its understandable he'll be hailed a british hero given that he's from Northern Ireland and has a british passport (similar to Andy Murray). Its also understandable being a nationalist that the Republic will try to claim him as one of their own (similar to Darren Gibson).
So without trying to get too political he could probably be classed as either but he himself would class himself as Northern Irish. Hence why he wears the Northern Ireland flag but refuses the Union Jack/Tricolour (as seen at the Weekend)
Not in slightest imo. Well actually no your right dickheads with an agenda or just ignorant fecks will The Gibson situation was/is alot different to be fair.
