US Open - Congressional.

I literally just applauded the television. This is better than Tiger in 2000, this is better than anything I've ever seen. This boy is dynamite. Unbelievable. Just absolutely unbelievable.

Debatable! In 2000, there were not a lot of players who were under par. The course was not so terrible for this open, it played into Rory's strength where he likes to spin the ball back. I don't want to take anything away from him, but you can't compare this to Pebble Beach. He won by a whopping 15 strokes man.
In 2000 if you remove Woods, you can count on your fingers the number of players who scored under par for the whole four days and I will be generous to make you count the same player twice if he score under par on two different days

It's just the way he's doing it though. If I recall, Tiger made a few bogies, and also made a triple during that competition. McIlroy is hitting almost every shot to within 15 feet, he hasn't 3 putted all competition! Both wonderful performances, and I love Tiger, but this pips it for me. I might be biased though, and over-excited, given I stuck £50 on McIlroy to win at 22/1 earlier this week.

This is stunning, it's the most one-sided golf tournament I've ever seen (only been watching golf the past 2-3 years)

If he finishes with about -21 today, he would have come close. The conditions at Pebble beach was not something one was suppose to score under par.
Winning by a score differential of 15 from your closest opponent is not something that can be eclipsed easily at all.
I hate myself for even doing this as this is a terrific performance from Rory and should be celebrated and left at that.

Yeh, you're right. We should stop comparing, and just embrace the two performances, because they've both been immense.

It's a coronation. :) Wonderful display by Rory.

fecking hell Jacobson, double bogey for him, atleast he's laughing.

I think Rory will make his first bogey here, his putt looks like it is going to break to his right, but it is a straight putt.

Nothing to worry about, move onto the next hole.

Could anyone give me a estimation of when he'll be finished?

I'm weighing up whether to stay up or not.

Gotta be up at 6am.

Yeah I've got to be up at 6 as well. Reckon it'll end around 12:30-1

Good save, important he held par there.

This Yang chap is tough.

Yang's a terrific player, quietly goes about his business and always seems to do well. His performance in the PGA Championship against Tiger a few years ago was great to watch.

9 shots ahead, 3 holes left to play...

Sergio's short putting is extremely average for a player of his quality.

1 hole left until it's official.

Yang with some awful shots to finish the tournament.

What is Shane McMahon doing there?

Congratulations to Rory, fantastic performance.

According to twitter, Shane McMahon is part of Rory's management team.

Massive congrats to Rory McIlroy, I said it on thursday, only a matter of time till he did this to a major field. He's odds on already for the BBC Sports Personality 2011. Possibly the best 4 rounds of golf Ive seen at a major.

Great great performance. One of the all time great performances. Especially after Augusta.

Surely more to come.

Fantastic. Well done, Rory. :)

Superb 4 rounds from Rory, he played like someone who has won multiple majors and blew everyone else away. Confident player, been the best player for 7.5 rounds of the 2 majors so far this year and he has a great chance of winning the Open Championship if he plays like this. Good lad as well, deserves the win just for how he reacted after the Masters debacle.
