I literally just applauded the television. This is better than Tiger in 2000, this is better than anything I've ever seen. This boy is dynamite. Unbelievable. Just absolutely unbelievable.
Debatable! In 2000, there were not a lot of players who were under par. The course was not so terrible for this open, it played into Rory's strength where he likes to spin the ball back. I don't want to take anything away from him, but you can't compare this to Pebble Beach. He won by a whopping 15 strokes man.
It's just the way he's doing it though. If I recall, Tiger made a few bogies, and also made a triple during that competition. McIlroy is hitting almost every shot to within 15 feet, he hasn't 3 putted all competition! Both wonderful performances, and I love Tiger, but this pips it for me. I might be biased though, and over-excited, given I stuck £50 on McIlroy to win at 22/1 earlier this week.
If he finishes with about -21 today, he would have come close. The conditions at Pebble beach was not something one was suppose to score under par.
Winning by a score differential of 15 from your closest opponent is not something that can be eclipsed easily at all.
I hate myself for even doing this as this is a terrific performance from Rory and should be celebrated and left at that.
Could anyone give me a estimation of when he'll be finished?
I'm weighing up whether to stay up or not.
Gotta be up at 6am.
This Yang chap is tough.
What is Shane McMahon doing there?
