US Open 2009 Flushing Meadows

I think that proves once and for all that Federer lacks bottle.

When an opponent really takes it to him and doesn't just give up he can't deal with it. Mr. Federer, I think you've met Mr. Nadal, well here's Señor Del Potro.

The guy had a nice and easy bonus by winning a Nadal-less French Open and Wimbledon. He should be happy with his two slams this year, he probably would've had zero.

You disagree? Show me an example where an opponent has actually stood up to him in a final and not just capitulated, and yet Federer's still come out on top? It doesn't happen.

As someone else said - he's a flat track bully. Nadal's shown over the past few years (and Del Potro has shown today), that if you actually stand up to him he turns into a petulant little boy and mentally collapses. Should have been docked points for swearing at the umpire earlier, frankly, but got away with it because he's Federer.

Yep, all these championship wins so far in his career have been because the opponent has self-destructed.
And hes always lost when hes challenged.

Sure.

Wimbledon this year? :wenger:

So anyone watching this: tell me if he's crying again during the presentation. :D

You mean Roddick's ridiculous unforced error count losing him the match? Federer just held serve, desperately hoping Roddick would implode - which he duly did. He relies on his opponent being mentally weak, because if they're not then he's in serious trouble.

How about the Wimbledon-final in 2007?

I'm nearly as happy as I was when we won the CL against Chelsea. :D

Going to sleep with a smile on my face and dreams of Federer bawling his eyes out whilst Del Potro's holding the cup up in front of him. "And that's for being whiny little bitch."

I'm so happy for Del Potro, was worth staying up this late.

Federer came across as a classless baby all the way from when Del Potro broke back in the 2nd set.

haha I love these childish arguments. I think it's time to stop do ting the greatest player to face player the sport. You don't break most evey rcord by lacking bottle.

Can't deal with it?

How well did nadal deal with potro? Or soderling at tv French? Or federer at Wimbledon a few years?

Some people just like to look at things the way it suits them. He's lost in 3 grand spa finals outside the French. Yes just three. All the rest he won.

Some of you act as if federer just has to turn up and win tennis matches. As if other players can't write their own scripts. He's by her one again, he's won 15, he has nothing to prove now.

Btw go back apparently spazs on this forum know more about thegame than former greats.

Can't d

Is your keyboard broken or are you just mentally retarded?

Nadal was still young and nowhere near his best. You need to do better than that.

If that was the case then federer is old right now and clearly not at his best.
Oh, and nadal was excellent in that final mr. Tinted glasses. Also federer had a really poor year last year. Makes the point you made sound rather nonsensical.

Which just happened to coincide with the level of quality around him stepping up dramatically, did it? When Federer won those titles he was playing a field more devoid of talent than at any other point in the history of men's tennis.

Now that he's got serious competition from Nadal, Djokovic, Del Potro, hell even Murray, he's slipping. Badly. He can't deal with it.

haha
Yes the competitions gotten so good he's won two grandslam Titles this year and regained his number one position. Poor roger really is struggling. And he was in the final of every grandslam this year. For an old 28 year old whose struggling it's kind of odd that he's still had a far better year than all those players. Quite a mystery that one.

Hmm, yeh, those two grandslams coinciding with Nadal being injured. And he only just beat Del Potro at Wimbledon, on the Argentine's least favourite surface and his supposed "best".

Roddick and Soderling are hardly the most testing opponents, either. Or are you going to argue that by beating them Federer cemented himself as the best sportsman the world has ever seen?

Nadal played at the French and was t good enough this time. In that form he wouldn't have evn made the wimbledon final.

Do players just turn up for finals to win tournaments these days hence avoiding the bother of going through the draw? Federer played tv best tennis in those tournaments hence was the champion. He's beaten roddick, nadal, djokovic, Murray, agassi, hewwit in the finals of grand slams. He's been in 21 I think consecutive semis. When he wins easily the other guy didn't put up a fight. When he wins a close one the other guy caved in, when he loses a close one he lacks bottle.

How often do you see two players playing well throughout a match? Doesn't happen often. Today federers game didn't reach it's usual levels. Last time potros didn't. Don't look Into things so much. And if you can't help it then look at things objectively not to suit yourself.

Btw roddick was brilliant In that final. Doubt amy of the players you've mentioned would have played that well. He made Murray look a bit shit in the semsisz

Count, you're a muppet. Federer is the greatest EVER.

Welcome to power tennis baby... Nadal, Djoko, Murray step aside, here come JUAN MARTIN!

Reading Count's post makes me cringe..
As said, lack of bottle didn't bring you 15 titles or 21 consecutive semi final feats.
The better man won today, that's that.

Maybe you should have watched it you twat, Federer had a great big smile on his face for some reason, congratulated del Potro and stood next to del Potro holding the runners up shield or whatever it is. The only one crying was del Potro.

In fairness Count is a bit of a WUM, he desperately wants us to sell Vidic to Barcelona
