It's the official thread...

Neil Thomson said so. :p

It's a VERY important match for us to win! Common Man Utd!

Could of course be a smokescreen?

Or maybe they just feel that having him for the CL game on Tuesday is more important.

Saw his 25 mins against Boca and he looked so quick and assured on the ball. I think he will bring a surety to our defence that has been missing since the season before last.

Just got my ManUtd.com newsletter, and in it Alex says:
Dear Supporter

Rio Ferdinand is travelling with us for Friday's match against Chelsea but I don't know if he'll make it. He's certainly coming down with us but we'll have to wait and see if he can play.

We've a fantastic record down there at Stamford Bridge. The strange thing with this fixture is that they've got a fantastic record up here and we've got a fantastic record down there. I've been here fifteen years and I've looked at fixtures throughout the years before that as well and Chelsea have lost something like only four times at Old Trafford in the last 47 years.

Our record down there maybe isn't quite as good as that, but it's good as any record you could have away from home. It's certainly without doubt our most successful away fixture. We enjoy playing there. There's always a nice atmosphere about it. The fans are close to the playing surface. You're almost in a cup tie situation all the time and the players enjoy that.

We've got a good record of scoring there. The only time I can remember a low scoring game was about four or five years ago when Phil Neville scored the only goal. Other than that, there's normally plenty of goals.

Enjoy the game
Alex Ferguson

But its also got a comparison between Veron and Lampard based on just the opening game!
Juan Seba Veron Player Frank Lampard
59 Minutes Played 90
4 Tackles 1
50% Tackling Success Rate 100%
89% Passing Accuracy - Defensive Third 100%
82% Passing Accuracy - Middle Third 83%
52% Passing Accuracy - Attacking Third 57%

We should be really afraid now, that Lumpards' going to tear us apart!

It looks like Chelsea have got enough problems of their own, Jimmy Floyd Piggybank has apparently said he wants to join Barcelona. He's never been the most loyal of players but saying he wants out isn't going to help

Hope our boys show him how 'disgraceful' they really are!!!

good to hear Hasselbackside is not 100% with it. hes one that always causes us problems. maybe chelsea see this as the early test of what theyre gonna do this year. which is nothing again of course. dessailly is the disgrace in my book. what he said over the summer about not giving 100% to chelsea has been dropped unlike the roy story, swept out of the sunlight and into somewhere dark and cavernous, maybe the gap between jimmy floyd hasselbacksides arse cheeks.

Now Jimmy will either be anonymous or have a stormer. He has a good record against us but wasnt up to his best last time we went down to the Bridge.

"Barcelona are one of the big clubs and Louis van Gaal one of the best coaches in the world," Hasselbaink told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

"We are talking about an excellent combination and I would like to form part of it."

"At the moment, Barcelona have the potential to win the Champions League and I could contribute to that."

Sounds pretty unsettled if you ask me. If Hasselbaink had said something like that at United hed be out in a flash. You have to wonder what Claudio will do. This is a big game, and if Jimmy plays (shite) and Chelsea lose, it could speed up the process of his sacking. If he didnt play and Rent Boys lost, the fans would be all over him. They dont have Forssell (injured) but that young lad Cole looks alright. If Hasselbaink doesnt play tomorrow he will be on his way to Barca imo. And if he does play I cant see him having a stormer.

Chelsea Provisional Squad: Cudicini, de Goey, Bosnich, Ferrer, Melchiot, Desailly, Gallas, Babayaro, Le Saux, Petit, Lampard, Gronkjaer, Zenden, Morris, de Lucas, Stanic, Keenan, Hasselbaink, Zola, Gudjohnsen, Cole.

Manchester United: Carroll, Williams, P. Neville, Silvestre, Ferdinand, Blanc, O'Shea, Beckham, Keane, Butt, Veron, Scholes, Giggs, Forlan, Van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer, Stewart, Tierney, Pugh.

reading the cudicini comments again i dont see anything offensive in what he was saying. its his second language after all, and i think he meant we were a disgrace to our normal high standard, which i dont think is far from exactly right. what did any of you feel when that di canio goal went in and Barthez was left flapping at imaginary taxicabs (PCP i tole yer) or when that Sivain Dodo-toad scored at OT?

I'm off out for a drink, leaving my house unguarded.

I'll leave the telly and some lights on!

I could be sorry later... Good job I'm insured!

Lampard will piss all over him ;)

Tough game tonight, hopefully for the home team. Personally I'm glad this has come early as we need to get out of the sloppy form we've shown to date. United 2-1 and a few bookings...

0-3 RVN, KEANEO, FORLAN with a cracker 1st of many

Bloody hope so...Maybe SAF will have a brainwave and play 4-4-2, then again maybe he'll try a new concept of 1-8-1.
