United @ Sunderland Match Thread

From what i saw, we weren't exactly dominating the match in the 2nd half. Although it's tough to say this, Sunderland does deserve this point :( N if we couldn't score from the dozen chances, we can blame no one.

Sorry Murt..Cant agree with you on this..We needed Keane on the pitch as a captain and not off.

So you support Keane more than United! Come on Murt. I don't want to see the club being compared to Arsenal.

There's nothing to say we can't be beaten in the games he'll miss - you can't just assume that he's cost us nothing.

He cost us plenty today. Not just measured in points either.

Sorry to sound pessimistic..But our side does not look good enough. We had complete control in the first half and thats when wxe should have scored 2 or 3..And ROnaldo's joined Madrid..Thats about all I needed

Thats how I feel too. I said during the close season that our squad looks light and we've been lucky previously with injuries and was told we've had the odd player out before, we'll be alright. Our squad needed strengthening, not just one extra central defender and backup keeper, with lots of players leaving including a striker.

Now, needlessly, we're going to lose Keane probably for a lot of games, and Mickey's now injured too.

Nothing wrong if we aim to finish in the top 5!!!

We beat Chelsea 3-0 last year, SUnderland 3 - 1 with a second string as well...Thats all ..

As if you don't know his temperement! Keane is Keane.

Do you have to find a scapegoat everytime we draw! hell like we fecking lost the game!

Not IMO. It says something abt us as a whole,Manchester United, when ur skipper obviously goes in with an elbow against a cnut whom he has a personal vendetta...

This is getting silly... i hope Keano doesn't turn crazy overnight n announce his retirement tomolo, ala Cantona...

Are you talking about the formation, the selection, or the late use of subs?

I don't think that apart from the subs thing, you can blame Fergie today - we had plenty of chances, but just didn't take them. Hardly Fergie's fault.

Drop Ruud and Ole, and put Diego up front on his own.

Liv, I meant playing 3 up front from soon after they scored, we needed a goal.

I didnt forsee the Irish feuds before hand. Basics really.

That aside we controlled so much of the first half it should have been all over by the break. You could sense that not getting a second goal would made for an iffy second half and so it turned out.

RVN cant go on squandering chances if we're to stamp our authority on the Prem.
:(

We lost the league at home last year. Our defence has been strengthened - we'll be fine.

No, i dont support Keane more than utd and us having a few dirty players is nothing compared to Arsenal. Hell miss a few games, we have plenty of midfielders and in the following schedule

sat PL
tue CL
sun PL
Wed CL
Sat PL
i dont think its a problem if hes rested for the domestic games and Butt/ Veron etc brought in for the league games.
Today he cost me absolutely nothing, he got sent off, its not something that i feel ashamed of.

Of cos that's not the point. If you had seen that match, you'd feel that the incident's redundant... pretty stupid i would say..

Sorry Livvie! Dont agree..The fact that we did not get a striker means that Fergie wants to stick to his 4 5 1. ANd I think that a regular team should be maintained rather than just tinkering. He played 4 5 1 on Wednesday..Why not just carry on rather than coming up again to 4 4 2.. and that too away from home. We need a settled side thats all....

IMO he was forced to play 4-4-2 because Butt and Scholes were out injured...

but ppl will continue moaning about the points loses because of him!

Defense is not 1 player but a squad..We have got rid of three (Irwin, Johnsen and Wallwork) and got in only ONE!!!!!!

If we don't miss him, then he can't be the great Captain that we think he is.

O'Shea counts as another. Johnsen was always injured, and Wallwork was a non-entity.

I have no doubt it was very stupid - but you make it sounds as if we would have won if Keano hadn't been sent of 30 secs before the final whistle.

I was about to say that!

WE DREW AT SUNDERLAND AND CHELSEA AND WON THE LEAGUE BY A MILE

Just watched it on TV.
O'shea was great. Giggs good in the first half. Ferdinand good throughout. Veron faded.

Keane is just stupid. He gave Neville a lot of grief, in fact he pushed him, because Neville was on a yellow card when he made a late challenge and could have been sent off. 15 minutes later he gets himself sent off for deliberately using an elbow on McAteer. He applies one rule for his teammates and another for himself. Also he lets McAteer win their personal dispute.

It's frustrating because he had a great game until then.

Livvie I know all this..The only thing I am worried is tht we have a real hard end of season and two points would have been useful in the bag..Especially as we dominated in the first half.

Peeps here are getting the wrong idea that Keano cost us the game. What "some of us" are saying is that in the long run Keano's stupid act will affect Utd. At present we don't have Butt and Scholes. Can we really afford to lose Keane the more so as Giggs and Veron have still not yet reached their stride.

I think Keane has got to control his temper against teams with those Irish players that goes against him during the last world cup. Sunderland happens to be one of them with a few of those players. The United team has lost the plot. They seems to be "afraid". Veron is playing safe, Giggs is afraid to get injured. With Keane going on a long long suspension, the sending off together with what the FA is going to impose,Butt and Scholes has got to get fit fast. One surprise is RVN who was not involved in the world cup, looked tired and slow. Lets bring on some of the youngsters; bring back Weber, try Djordic or Pugh on the left.

Without defending Keano and his actions, that's just how he's been throughout his Man United career.

Should the Scouse twat have been sent off though?
