United successfully pass PSR

I personally think PSR is a load of rubbish, clubs should be able to spend what they want.....if idiot owners spend what they don't have then that's on them. PSR is in nature....anti-competitive, i'm amazed the big PL clubs haven't legally challenged it. Especially the likes of City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

If an owner passed the Fit and Proper Test before acquiring a club, that should be enough to show they are of right competence to spend within their means surely!?
It wouldn't just be "on them", but on the fans of clubs who go bankrupt.

i think as moments in our history go, passing this psr period sits between the treble and the 1968 champions league.

Hopefully this quells this talk about selling Mainoo
It was never really serious talk anyways. Every player has a price, that’s all the club is trying to establish to show players that no one is untouchable at the club. Also yay we passed PSR.

1968 Champions League? Back then it was called the Blighty Battles Foreigners Cup Sponsored by Ritz Biscuits.

and we certainly gave that benfica a good rodgering to take home to spain with them.

good stuff, never in doubt despite the club spin.

Now Sir Jimbo, get that chequebook out.

Didn't City more or less already do this?

Not even close - City have spent a lot of money they shouldn't have been allowed to spend. But they haven't massively overpaid compared to everyone else......put a club in the hands of the right (or wrong) owner who is determined to make his team the best in the world - he could easily sign 15-20 players at £100 million a player

Every business is ran by a senior management team/directors, football clubs are still businesses. The expectation would be that clubs have proof of funds and spend within their means. Some clubs have benefactors who as long as they are contractually committed to cover costs, should be allowed to spend.

That would be naive in the extreme, as multiple examples show. Which is why we have PSR.

It seems long term club can only thrive if we join the super League or sell our own TV rights like Real/Barca, or get bought by a nation state/billionaire (like Chelsea ones).

We can make as much money as we want, it’s fecking pointless if we’re going to keep wasting it on shit. A well run club can do well within the PSR framework.
