let the show begin...

United are interested in Fernando Llorente according to marca. However the article is based on presumably united scouts seen monitoring the spanish striker.

Oh dear, I've just realised that the transfer forum is going to be the most active forum for the next few months. Rumours are going to be started about virtually every player on the planet.

Good. Our best player is going.. he needs replacing

There's going to be a hell of a lot of rubbish printed for a while now but if our scouts have been out there to watch him, we might actually be interested in him.

We should start a counter...

till now:

Torres
Llorente
Benzema
Sanchez

who else?

He's been in excellent form, but that doesn't mean much...a good striker in a rich vein of form. Not really one for us.

We're going to be linked with absolutely fecking everyone.

We'll sign Benzema.

So we need to spend the next few months talking about every half decent striker on the planet?

fecking hell, some of you people are actually going to enjoy this aren't you.

Has Heskey put in a transfer request yet?

Ugh the press is going to be unbearable the next few months.

It's the like the scouse boom-bust cycle.

The Redcafe muppet-wankery cycle.

It's usually December before they start to close in on the next summer's target.

They will probably start earlier this year.

Nilmar.
Dzeko.

in the next few weeks i predict.

Cavanni
Higuain
Giuseppe Rossi
E'too
Pato
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Javier Pastore
Quagliarella
Srdjan Lakic

What else is there to enjoy?! Rooney's as good as off... except for getting a replacement there isn't much to look forward too.

Only a new star signing can cushion this blow.

This guy is a good player. And if he doesnt go to Madrid as the press have been speculating, I think we might see him as a cheaper alternative to Dzeko should we need to replace a striker.

The only drawback with him is that he doesnt have a huge amount of pace. But still enough to get away now and again.

Has a 36m release clause and the club wont sell cheap

Spanish clubs almost invariably sell cheaper than their release clauses though. Bilbao arent a greedy club nor do they really need lots of money as they wont spend much on players, since they only play Basque players.

No matter what Bilbao are likely to ask for Llorente, Dzeko will cost almost double.

Apparently Madrid want him too
Sid Lowe doesnt think he will go too cheap

If we were to go for a big man striker I think Carroll is a likely choice as much as either of the foreign players with hefty price tags.

Sid Lowe also thinks they're more likely to listen to offers from a club in England than they are to a rival club in Spain.

Sounds good. But we'll have to wait and see what the player thinks.

His style of football is well suited to the premier league, very adept with holdup play and especially taking the ball down on his chest from long passes, but as an emerging Spanish international he might like to stay in la liga and win a few titles before he moves on.

I can see why Madrid would want him but I doubt he'd want to go there and play 3rd fiddle to Higuain and Benzema... So unless one of those is on their way, I think Madrid will be off the table for the time being.

Not sure he would be with his off the field problems. And being English he'd cost just as much if not more than these players :nervous:

Torres has had no problem keeping his international spot while playing here so hopefully Llorente wouldn't let that concern sway him.

Fergie would sort him out and I couldn't really see us stretching beyond £20M for any of them except maybe Dzeko, but City seem to have that wrapped up.

Agreed. His holdup play is excellent, but given time I'd like to think Macheda could develop into that style and calibre of centre forward. He's certainly got the physique for it.

Thats exactly what it would take. We dont need a striker unless one of those two are off. But if that were to happen, Llorente would be a good signing.

The only thing he doesnt have in his locker is lots of pace. But he's not slow either. He's powerful, scores all types of goals with both feet and head, skilful, can beat his man, can set up a team mate and he can bring the ball out of the air like Drogba. I actually think he and Hernandez would be deadly together.

I agree. He is a Drogba type of striker and He'd be a handful in any big side. That is why Mourinho has been so interested. I hope none of our English rivals bag him.
