United are bottom of the league, but are you prepared to see United go backward to go forward?

What's the guarantee that we will move forward? It's pure delusion. For some reason some of you have convinced yourself the further back you go, the further forward we'll end up.

It's not like jumping a fecking trampoline you know.

So we keep things as they are???

If we have a shit season with the same old losers making the same shitty mistakes it going to be hard to take.

A season of reduced expectations to bed in a few potential great players who lack experience is different.

No, come on, we’ll get wins here and there. But it is already quite humiliating and I can see us being in the bottom three by the time the World Cup starts. (Unless we sign several high quality players).
Will we? Every away game is a write off with this lot. So we're banking on some very tough looking home games.

This was always bound to be the case. This whole club needs gutting, and anyone expecting immediate results this season or even the next is quite frankly delusional.

There are no guarantees of a forward after any backward. I'm not sure "too big to fall" is a thing anymore.

I'd take one season of relegation to get rid of the plague from the US.

There is not much further back to go I am afraid. We wrote off last season, and I used to watch the relegation battles more keenly because we had nothing to play for. I am telling you all of those sides played better than we did towards the end of last season( that was so evident when Everton had one of their easiest wins of the season), and all the teams this year so far look much much better than us. I had hoped that it was just players not giving a feck but its deeper than that. The rot has set in

Unless we bring in new personnel we are in for a big scrap with the bottom 5-8 teams. Its a very tough competition to turn it around when the momentum is totally against you and the confidence is gone.

I'd happily accept relegation if it forced this disgusting parasitic vermin to sell.

Both in terms of performances and results there are no real positives to take from our first two matches. In simple terms we are P2 D0 L2 with a GD of -5. Do I think we are going to get relegated this season? No more than I expect Brentford to remain in the top four. It is a sobering thought that sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards. If that principle applies to United then we should expect that this is going to be a long, painful, frustrating and scrappy season. One where we may well see the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea pull away from us quite significantly. United are in a fight and the first order of business for ETH is to ensure that the players that he picks have the stomach for the fight. Clearly, some are simply not up for that.

Would you be willing to see United go backwards this season if it means that we can go forward next season?
It happened before and if Doc hadnt have been playing around with Laurie Browns wife I think he would have won the league eventually.
Seriously though it will take another 5/6 games to turn this around. Its obvious the training and tactics aint sticking yet with the average player we have. Hopefully now the board will see TH needs proper backing and get him a striker RW 2xCM and RB as a bare minimum.
In the meantime try Garner, Garnacho, Iqbal etc, cant be any worse than what we have now.

We’ve won eight out of twenty-six competitive games this year, playing just as bad as this. I think we’ll just stumble to three or four wins, get a draw or two and be in the drop zone but improving by Qatar.

8 out of 26, by the way. Shocking.

We went at least two times backward in Moyes and Ole era and that aspect is the only thing we're doing right so far.

We won't move forwards until the Glazers sell up. The rot has fully set into the football club now, and it will take major surgery to get us out of this rut. Surgery that should've happened this summer, but hasn't.

Where is the money coming from to get 4 players unless it’s players who are cheap as no one else wants them?.

We have a squad that are incapable of doing what manager wants and virtually every player has been shit for a year.

Had the club been gutted out with players on big wages such as DDG, Rashford, Martial, Varane, Fred & Ronaldo, and replaced with younger hungry players who want to prove themselves at a higher level on under 150k p/w, than I would have excepted a settling period, but not when we are looking at more aging dross on big wages who have proven to fail at big clubs.

The club isn’t consciously taking a step backwards to take steps forward though. We aren’t bottom of the league by design, well we are but not purposefully. If this were a young team with a few teething issues fine but we’re still spunking money on £50ml centre backs & spending months pursuing £80mil players that in the grand scheme would only hide some fundamental flaws.

Once we start being active in truly reshaping this squad then yes I’ll have patience but I’m done watching the likes of Shaw waddle round for 8 years then be told how he’ll suddenly sustain form on now his 5th manager.

Utd will be lucky to finish in top half. Even if we sign a couple of players, it will take time for them to settle in.

The good news is we can’t sink any deeper for the next 36 games

I really can't. If we don't beat Southampton or Leeds we could easily get to the 14th game against West Ham with no win.

Liverpool H
Southampton A
Leicester A
Arsenal H
Palace A
Leeds H
City A
Everton A
Newcastle H
Spurs H
Chelsea A
West Ham H
If we end up winning our first game on the 14th game, I genuinely fear ETH will get sacked. I really don’t believe he should but the pressure would be immense at that stage. I’m sure the players would have down tools at that point and probably connive to get the manager out and blame him.

What’s worrying is we’ve played Brighton and Brentford who should be the two easier games in the league. Yet we’ve still not scored a goal this season. Brighton goal was an OG.

If getting relegated meant the Glazer’s sold up and fecked off then yes I’d accept it, it was only 20 years ago that City were in the third tier.

You cannot force the Glazers out, but if we were in the championship they'd consider it. I hate myself for thinking it but if relegation gets rid of these parasites so be it.

To be honest, over the last 10 years how much have they let the manager spend? About £1.3 billion.

That’s more than Man City, Barca and PSG. So to just call the Glazers parasites is totally ridiculous.

Just tinkering at the sides is what is happening. The whole squad bar maybe 3 or 4 needed getting rid of.Until a root and branch
clear out happens, nothing will change.New manager still playing the same useless prima donnas.

Right now I would just settle for a goal preferably one scored for us by us

Next the OP will be asking if you will be prepared to see United get relegated before going forward.

Why not? There is plenty of depth to sink further into, more losses, lower table finishes, relegation battle, relegation etc.

Last season, there were some saying it can’t get any worse. And now here we are, saying the same after sinking to yet another new low.

"are you prepared to see United go backward to go forward?

Why going backward will help us to go forward?

Going backward will probably mean we will go even more backward in the future! It is like you get a shit job... and then later, you will aim to get a worse job in the hope to get forward? Why?

I think multiple years without CL will force the Glazers to sell - the revenue stream will dry up eventually.

Just imagine, imagine if we get relegated.

Then the glazers would be forced to sell the club. Actually not so bad

Everton isn’t great either. I did this exercise earlier today. Palace looks miles better than us. I’m hoping we break our duck by Leeds at home at least. Shit.

Prediction of points by the time we get to West ham? I think 7 pts is a possibility

Ok for the second goal ETH has learned that he must be flexible with his tactics. He said that his team were told to play from the back but should not try it when it is not possible (space is further up the pitch). I am not sure if he communicated this to his players in training, but if he did not, at least we will not make the same mistake again. Learning to adapt to new manager's tactics with a dose of reality is an important lesson.

We are 20th right now. We literally can't sink lower than that this season.

Absolutely. It could potentially lead to feeling I actually support something again

I’m starting to despise when people throw around the Biggest Club in the World talk. What good that’s been for nearly a decade. We shouldn’t claim that anymore because that brand building came off the back of being giants not just off the field, with cool official tyre and noodle sponsors, but on the field success. We are a shell of the club that we used to be in that regard. These players don’t know what it takes to bear the weight of expectation or responsibility that was once deemed necessary to play for this club and therefore made this club great. We are not the biggest club in the world, not with these owners, not with these wannabe businessman thinking it’s as easy as running a team on FIFA, not with how poorly our recruitment and scouting departments have become and not with how neglected our homegrown talent have become, and certainly not with these players that have no right to being wearing that badge on their shirt (with all of them being well overpaid as well).

But we sure can be again if we take the necessary steps to clear the deadwood, not just in the dressing room but top to bottom. And I say whatever and however long it takes, do it.

There's only 38 games in the Premier League though? If the players keep serving up their form over the last 28 games (long enough to be considered their level) for the next 36 we'll finish the season on 36 points - going by last year we'd have finished 1 point a head of a relegated team.

That's without seeing these mentally fragile players going through a battle, for years we've picked up our points when the pressure was off (no fans in stadium, no title hope, no top 4 hope) but as soon as the pressure dialled up a little (again, top 4 battles, semi finals, finals etc) they wet themselves.

It would genuinely be interesting to see these players go through a relegation scrap.
