United and adidas extend partnership

So… if they didn’t have an issue endorsing either of them…

For what? If you are pairing them together, I assume that you are referring to the fact that they allegedly solicitated the services of an escort who happened to be 16 but was lying about her age and didn't look like a 16 years old, largely due to cosmetic surgery?

There is a difference between committing something illegal knowingly and unknowingly. And generally people will weight things differently based on circumstances.

It’s difficult, because as you well know we’re not supposed to talk about the specifics.

But if any player’s situation now is no different, legally, to that of Evans (who recently rejoined Utd) or RvP who Adidas have also had no issue in endorsing then I can’t really see how any player would get treated differently.

Big contracts and huge companies tend to view things from a legal POV rather than conjecture, so I don’t really see, at this point, Adidas having issue with that.

If so, any club would have to refuse the player - even if on a free - if they happened to have Adidas as a sponsor. Just can’t see it.

But but but City have the highest revenues in world football even more than RM, Barca, Man Utd and BM. They are also the richest and most valuable football club.

UEFA and PL are sleeping on their jobs.

Obviously all the boycott Adidas hashtags, email onslaughts and don't buy the shirt campaigns have worked.

Doesn’t seem that much of an increase when we signed the last deal so long ago? City, Chelsea and Newcastle will no doubt sign obscene deals that dwarf this.
They never have before.

Who else is getting that type of deal with the ten years on the pitch we've had? We're a sleeping giant who should be winning massive trophies. I just cant see any other club doing what we can do, while being so ripped off buy our owners. Its so, so imperative that we get sold in the next few months. We cut the reigns cut off our neck.

For sure. Utd is a shackled monster.

Get rid of those fecking loser wretches and watch the rest of the PL gulp.

A reduction on the last deal in real terms. Unsurprising given our on pitch performance in that time.

Umbro notwithstanding I always felt our Nike shirts were far superior to anything Adidas put up (although I like our current shirt) with the likes of our 2006/7 and 2007/8 being certified classics, doesn't hurt that we lofted our last title rocking nike kits either so on a purely aesthetic point of view i prefer them.

I find Adidas's proprietary three stripes a bit unsightly with it clogging the already visually clamped shirt with all the adverts and such so them staying is somewhat disappointing i suppose.

Still they're paying a decent amount of dosh so who cares.

The Adidas ‘80s Sharp kits were the greatest Utd kits.

The ‘SHARP’ in that raised, felt lettering

Good news for the club in some ways, as it secures funds over a long period of time. Though it does worry me, that we are effectively locking ourselves into this for 10+ years at a point in time when we are meant to be selling up. That doesn't strike me as a move from owners that are intending to sell, as it removes the ability for new owners to seek out different options.

You'd have thought (especially with 3 years left on the deal) this sort of stuff would be paused until the new owners come in?

What if the new ownership wants shorter contract term lengths compared to the Glazers preference of long deals?

The new ownership is already in place. It's the same as the old ownership unfortunately.

£900m is an incredible deal.

Imagine the Glazers will be ramping up the asking sale price.
