United’s next manager

Times are reporting Ole not going anywhere. The board are committed to the project. Brace yourself in guys.

It would truly sum up how moronic Woodward is. Let's not be patient with either lvg or Mourinho but happy to stick it out with a manager that couldn't cope in the championship with Cardiff.

He’s working for Nagelsmann behind the scenes, one can only hope but then again it’s Woodward, probably working on Jesse Lingard’s contract renewal instead.

Think it's a shame we didn't keep Ole on as a caretaker manager until the summer and then agreed a permanent deal for Nagelsmann before RB Leipzig stepped in

Could still see him as a future Utd boss but highly unlikely to be the next one as he only started a new job in the summer.

You don't even need Nagelsmann. Woodward should keep track of Marco Rose too. And why not keep track of Ten Hag too? There are options even if Nagelsmann is guy you want.

Nagelsmann agreed the Leipzig deal in summer of 2018.

We've been through all this before.

The second we start the "job is safe" briefings, the new age version of the dreaded chairman's vote of confidence, it's just a matter of time.

He might put in a few decent results and delay it, like Van Gaal and Mourinho, but we all know he's a goner.

He's already talking of how we need to get to January, but surely he can't have any huge faith we're suddenly going to bring game changers in then.

The club showed plenty of patience with both of them.

Criteria for our next manager should be

1. Should be able to work with youth. Our squad is basically a youthful squad and most of these players are already lacking in confidence even though they have the ability. Our next manager should be a manager who knows how to relate with the youth and get the best out of them. I think this cancels out Allegri.

2. Good man management. I mean a coach that can know how to utilize the most limited of players and get the best out of them.

3. Tactician. A coach that is flexible in his tactics and formations. And for feck sake a coach that knows how to deal with a park the bus team.

Do you guys have suggestions on the manager that ticks all these boxes?

Allegri + Evra part of his backroom staff

Can see Mc Kenna and Carrick going back with the Academy and Phelan in this so called DoF position

Big fan of this, but Phelan should just pack his bags and leave the club.

Who exactly are these wonderkids in our team? I don't think that Rashford, Martial, AWB or McT are youngsters anymore, they've had plenty of senior football experience and need an elite manager to get them performing, not some glorified U23 coach to hold their hands. If you're refering to Chong, Gomes or Greenwood.... these kids have shown nothing so far and should be sent back to the youth team for now. Maybe a loan to Championship in January? Just look at the Chelsea academy kids, they're a level above ours.

Regarding points 2. and 3. - there's no better man-manager and tactician available than Allegri. Not now, not in January, not in the summer.

Yep Phelan has to go. He has now been a central feature in two separate periods of our most uninspiring football. Even if he isn't the detriment he sure as hell isn't the solution.

We may as well could’ve kept Mourinho or LvG for that.

Allegri hasn’t dealt with a squad as poor as this for a long long time.
Well no because Mourinho stopped after winning the EL.

Squad isn't as poor as Ole makes it seem. With Allegri and 2-3 players in January like Mandzukic, Can it's easily the 3rd best team and then you build from that.

van der Sar as CEO to replace Woody. The problem starts at the top. Fix that, then everything will fix itself because Van der Sar will make smart decisions on Director of football and chief coach jobs.

:boring: But who should be our new manager.

.
You cannot be serious, Emre Can and Mandzukic would make our squad easily the 3rd best in the league?
Stop it, even Messi in January wouldn’t make our squad become the 3rd best in the league.

Has to be Poch

head has gone this season because he obviously thought he’d be joining Utd in June (before ole happened)

*sigh* For those suggesting Erik ten Hag over someone like Eddie Howe, please keep in mind that:

1) The Eredivisie is such a league that the likes of Steve McClaren could win it, and with a lesser resourced AZ team at that, and...

2) The multiple Eredivisie winner Philip Cocu is struggling at a Derby team team that are always expected to be in and around the playoffs.

This is not to say that Cocu is a bad manager, or that ten Hag is not a good manager. My point is that everyone massively oversimplifies managerial CVs and are seemingly useless at being able to put things into context. In fact, it is impossible to truly put things into context as we fans simply do not know enough about the minutiae of any specific managerial job.

Put simply: How could you possibly be certain that getting a club like Man United in the CL is a more difficult achievement than staying up with Burnley? Or keeping a club like Rotherham in the Championship? Or getting promoted the the Prem with a club like Bristol City, etc....

+ Allegri. I'm dead serious.

This squad is not nearly as bad as it seems. Ole's incompetence has really skewed perception for a lot of people. Squad is already up there with the others. 2-3 good, experienced players + what would immediately be the joint top coach with Pep and Klopp makes all the difference.

It’s ten Hag, not van Tag. And Ajax would hammer us had we met them now. Not that that’s an achievement in itself, I mean we’re sh*t.

I look like a complete prat. I'm gonna go edit that now.

But the point still stands....

Ajax would batter you because their superior youth academy continually churns out stars - little to nothing to do with the current manager.

Did they batter us in the Europa League final?

Your next manager isn't going to be Pochettino: it will be a caretaker manager after Ole is sacked.

PS. The idea that Pochettino hankered after United in the summer, after reaching the CL final with Spurs, is laughable.

Man Utd is a far bigger club than Spurs. Get over it. We may be run by clueless idiots, but sooner or later we will get back on track. Spurs fans might come to realise how important Pochettino has been to them, & what he might have achieved if he had been backed.
