Correct me if I'm wrong but I think we are substantially a net importer in Europe, I hardly think it's likely that countries will decide they don't want to sell us goods. People will trade if it's financially viable and mutually beneficial, the world is too competitive for anything to get ahead of the profit motive.
considering its taken a decade for Europe to agree the trans atlantic trade agreement - and are very close to agreeing a similar deal with china Id say its naive to think the UK will be able to leave and agree something independently with all three... certainly anything quick... and thats a hell of a market to be walking away from

We are - but it will cost countries more to import from us - I'm not saying all business will cease or anything... but the sheer idea that we can just pick and choose who/where we do business and everyone will go along with us because we're the mighty UK irritates me.

Farage resigns as leader, but hints he'll stand for the leadership in the subsequent leadership race.

It's time for a new deck. All the cards they have left are 2s, 3s and 4s and no matter how much shuffling they do, they'll never win with what they've got.
in fairness the "New Labour" brand did wonders for Blair in shedding some of the old baggage - perhaps they need to think in those terms again rather than shuffling the pack (shuffling the deck chairs on the titanic)

My disappointment isn't so much that the Tories are in, I doubt Labour would have been much different. People voting Tory with no enthusiasm just to keep Labour out is understandable. The amount of seats they got shows that most people think they're doing a good job - THAT'S what I find disheartening. at least Farage lost!

Just saw one of my mates tweeting about how the UK economy is growing quickly relative to other countries. From a purely economic perspective, they're not wrong. All depends on what you value more.

Well my constituency returned an increased Labour majority...What the feck were the rest of you doing!?

Same here, mine just saw its largest majority in history in favour of Labour. Expect Simon Danczuk to move up in the ranks of the labour party in the coming years.

There are plenty of other facts that are pretty damning on the Tories first term, longest decline in wages on record, bedroom tax, Gideon losing our AAA credit rating etc, missing targets on debt and deficit massively. if people thought Labour would be even worse that's fair enough, the numbers seem to suggest ti isn't just that.

Our Labour MP's (Hilary Benn) share of the vote went up 5.7% in our constituency, securing over 24,000 votes, with second placed Tory representative only getting 7,000 odd...

Damnit, the rest of you!

who next... cable and danny alexander were probably the front runners until today?
I'm not sure I can even name another still in the Commons after last night other than Clegg, the massacre has been so comprehensive.

How do I see if the share of votes went up or down in my constituency?

"Clegg says the Lib Dems will never know how many lives they made better through their decision to “step up” in coalition.

He says they have made the country fairer and more liberal than it was five years ago.

He thinks history will judge his party kindly."

Head. Arse.

My constituency returned an increased Tory majority by 2%. My parents won't confirm but it seems like all of my immediate family, voted Conservative.

Clegg a deluded, broken and rambling man. Will still not accept that he made a misjudgement, effectively calling the electorate ungrateful for the liberal 'sacrifice' of five years in power. The man has done more damage to the cause of PR and to civil liberties than any other politician by ruining the liberal vehicle that was built up over decades.

It's true but people do love GDP figures.
