Unnerving how long the camera focused on Simon Hughes after finding out he lost his seat there. 32 years as MP, bloody hell.

Labour spent much of the early coalition attacking the Lib Dems. This seems to have been a catastrophic mistake.

One good reason to not vote for the Tories is that they want to scrap the Human Rights Act. Looks like a lot of voters voted for them because they wanted anyone but Miliband.

And it looks like the Tory plan to turn the disabled into pencil sharpeners was lost in the furore over Ed's choice of tube socks.

Hughes gone - really no Lib Dem is safe.

Salmon going to Westminster.

What the tories have done/are planning to do to our legal system is seriously scary. The HRA allows ECtHR decisions to be effective here and without it, we could see the tories curtailing human rights to suit their own agenda. It's disgusting...

Yeah, there are so many policy reasons not to vote Conservative, but as Neil Kinnock said, a lot of people are shy tory voters. They'll choose based on the assumption that the tories will lower their tax.

Feck what is good for the country....

These Labour activists in London are a little frightening. lol Where are Mulder and Scully when you need them?

Salmon getting his money's worth out of this "Scottish lion" soundbite.

Can Somebody explain to me that bit about Lib Dem deposits please?
If you get below a certain amount of votes in a seat, you lose the deposit (£500 I think) you put down in order to stand. It's designed to stop masses of people standing that have no hope, otherwise known as the Liberal Democrats.

When you put yourself forward for an election you have to pay a deposit of £500. You then only get that back if you win over 5% of the vote. The Lib Dems have failed to do that in so many seats they're £50k+ in the red already tonight.

Thanks!

Iain Davidson has been scathing about Labour and Jim Murphy now he's lost his seat. Basically said that the party had no direction in this campaign, no focus, and that Murphy should resign as Scottish Labour leader since his position is untenable.

You have to pay a £500 deposit to stand for election, and you only get your money back if you recieve over 5% of votes cast in your constituency.
If you get less than 5% in an constituency you lose your £500 deposit.

Cheers

Maybe that's because we don't live in a 2-party state?[/QU
And England chose to vote the right-wing, elitist, rich get richer, poor get poorer party. Go figure.

Except England never did but lets not let facts stand in the way of a good rant.

I can't imagine how bad I would feel if I had just voted to stay in the union and then voted for the SNP to have a "stronger voice" only to provide a working Tory majority by default. Well done the SNP you sure out smarted us.

People are used to watching Big Brother, xfactor and strictly, of course they will vote for personality on tv of the leader not the actual beliefs/manifesto of the party! Cameron in again would be more of a skull F CK for the UK people.

The liberals rightly being decimated, but sadly it won't mean Clegg goes too. The deluded prick will carry on, continuing to tell us it was the right thing going into coalition after his party has been destroyed for it.

Carswell will definitely stand for leader. May turn them into less of a rabid right wing bunch, ironically killing them in the process.

There's a lot less clapping & a lot more union flags in the Northern Ireland election

Without a doubt. As much as Ed has grown on me, it was always going to be an uphill battle to convince the British public that he could be a leader.

Far to many people care more about how he can eat a bacon sandwich, then what his party's policy on immigration/economy/education etc etc is.

No way that can happen now. He's essentially destroyed any popular support they have.
