@Cheesy - How much opposition do you think there would be to the idea if the SNP tried to start another referendum after winning a huge majority in 2016?

I am intrigued as to what cuts will be made by a Tory majority, and how severe they will be.

No idea right now. I'd have said a lot of opposition, but if there's a huge Tory majority? I don't know. I still think 2016 is way too soon though.

I voted No in the last referendum because I didn't believe in any of the financial solutions by the SNP. Right now I would just vote yes because of the fact how the whole of scotland has voted snp but will get Cameron because the english completely fecked up!

How did Labour feck up so bad?!

They went along with all the stupid fallacies about the economy.

I think Milliband did a decent job in many areas but they were swimming against a strong current of utter bullshit

The EU Ref's going to be a disaster for the strength of the Union as well.

Sturgeon's 'Tories out' agenda annoys me. Focus on your policies you little Scottish bitch.

I don't even know what to say to that.

I can only imagine the vitriol had the Tories been on the end of a hammering...

Agreed. Scotland will almost certainly vote to stay in the EU - if the rest of the UK leaves, it could potentially be disastrous from a Union POV.

Yup. Needed to attack the right-wing narrative of 2007-2010, and challenge the cuts as ideological decisions. They've utterly failed at both.

Holy shit. SNP have annihilated Labour in Kilmarnock.

SNP win in Kilmarnock, with 30,000 votes to Labour's 16,000.
It's f*ck all to do with voting SNP. Look at your own country for why the Tories will win this.
I think your wrong. If voting SNP in Scotland has no effect then why vote for them? If it does then why would you think that vote wouldn't be countered by a significant amount of the ten times more people who disagree with you south of the border. Scotland cost Labour the election. That seems to be the reality. You did get a stronger voice, I won't enjoy listneing to Cameron's stronger voice any more than you will. At least I won't have helped vote in him in though.

How do you do that, though? If you continue to be strong about British unity, and presumably British nationalism in the process, you look like a hypocrite if you criticise the SNP for the same thing. The union is trying to be strong about British unity: it's just not working. In the long-term, it feels inevitable that Scotland will eventually go independent. Will still be quite a while, but it's feeling like something that's more and more likely barring serious reform within the UK.
Politically there's no reason to why the Scots should stay. The result from this election prove that Scotland(Left) and England(Right) are two completely different countries with two completely different mindsets. I can't see any other to reason expect the sheer complexity(Money, EU membership)of independence as to why Scot's should stay(There's no fecking reason to why anyone on the left so should stay).

The SNP winner in Kilmarnock paying tribute to the Labour candidate; presumably just about to criticise the party.

What a mess.
Ed Balls and Milliband
Seriously depressing. At this point I wish I voted yes for independence. I'm guessing their will be another referendum considering the massive win by the SNP and I assure you everyone will be voting yes this time. Why vote no when the english can't even do anything right now!

Clegg killed the Lib Dems the second he got into bed with Cameron.

They need an inspiring leader to take over pretty sharpish or else they'll lose all credibility for the next 2 or 3 elections at least.

They also need to go back to party ideals, rather than Tory-lite libertarianism. Their entire appeal used to be that they weren't either Labour or The Tories. Now I'm not sure what they are. Unfortunately, I've got a feeling that all of British politics is headed rightwards after this UKIP turnout. I think everyone is going to be desperate to grab up those votes once UKIP is inevitably discredited by some scandal in the next year or two.

That's simply not true. Labour have lost this election even if every single constituency in Scotland went their way. The Lib Dem Collapse and failure of Labour to pick them up has cost them the election. Not to mention the fear-mongering from the Murdoch press and the Tories negative campaigning tactics.

SNP domination is one thing the polls got bang on.

If she's on course to win 58 out of 59 seats I'd say she got her policies spot on!
I can't stand her. Charlie Brooker was being kind when he said he looked like an actress in a biscuit advert. Not sure I've seen a more hate-filled politician since Adolf Hitler tbh. Vile bigoted privileged lawyer woman

A hold for SNP. Lib Dems with 456 votes, comfortably behind the Scottish Christian Party. Aye, the Lib Dems are losing to the Christian Party.

Holy shit. SNP have annihilated Labour in Kilmarnock.
 Thats my vote right there! I went for Labour though. I work at a community shop part time and honestly everyone is mad about the SNP right now. To be honest I voted Labour this time and I voted No for independence because I thought the english would go against cameron....I've learned my lesson for sure! fecking cameron+clegg for another 5 years

Hard even for Labour to win in 2020 now.

People need to get real. Even if every single person up here voted Labour it wouldn't make a difference!

Ask yourself why Labour are taking a tanking in England ffs. Why did everyone go from Lib Dem to Tory or UKIP? The Tories stirring up English nationalism has done far more damage to the Labour party than the Scottish nationalism has.

I don't even know what to say to that.

Just hate the airtime the SNP's been given. This horrid silver-spooned cow would happily lead her countrymen down the road of penury in the name of so-called independence.
