Your attempt at gaining relevance is cute.

Trust me, 99.99% of United fans actively cheer on City when they're playing Liverpool. City were tonked 8-1 by Middlesborough ten days before United won the European Cup in Moscow. That was the gulf between the clubs prior to City winning the Oil State Lottery. Absolutely everything you've got now is down to pure luck and circumstance. United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton etc. are proper clubs with loads of tradition. The vast majority of football fans don't care when City win trophies, which aptly sums up their standing in the game.
Agree with it all mate

Hope City spank Liverpool only for UEFA to kick City out for doing the poznan during the champions league anthem.

Liverpool aren’t winning the CL, so I’ll be rooting for them vs City - who are certainly capable.

Your attempt at pretending you don’t care is just as cute. Otherwise you wouldn’t feel the need to justify your stance so passionately. I get that United fans would take a City win over Liverpool, but any United fan claiming to be entirely impartial to City walking away with the league, and being talked about as one of the best ever PL sides is probably a liar. This forum has been testament to that not being the case this season. City have frequently been a hot topic here, which would be odd for a side nobody cares about winning things.

At least we don't have to answer the question of between City and L'pool in the final who we would prefer to win it.

had a feeling we'd get liverpool and its also the draw I didn't want.

Think the first leg being at Anfield is good for us. If we can get out of there with less than a goal disadvantage and an away goal, I'll be semi-confident.

Tough run of games Liverpool A, United H, Liverpool H, Spurs A, could see our title win held up too.

If City try to pass it out from the back deep from their own half, fancy Pool to turn them over. If Pep plays this like the second tie against Barca last season i'd fancy City to get it done. Maybe don't do it away from home and do it at home. No way Pool are losing to City side taking risks, they are to good at pressing and taking advantage of that with their break attack. Going to be a hell of a tie.

Not expecting much from Juve against Madrid but with them you never really know. That line up though looks really devoid of talent but if Madrid play with the heavy midfield set up, I expect them to dominate the tie rather easily. From a player quality standpoint it's a non contest however the Italians tend to find a way to get it done.

Sevilla pretty much don't stand a chance, not with that attack anyways. Their midfield will hold their own cause they are pretty good on the ball however the attackers simply are not at the eufa knockouts level. Bayern should get it done rather easily.

Barca to stroll through Roma. Too inconsistent for this stage themselves.

Things are coming together nicely for Liverpool to lose out on CL football next season. Dream scenario:

  • Liverpool rest players in the PL to beat City over two legs, who will pose a smaller threat in the semis than City.
  • Everton and ourselves win our derbies, Liverpool within touching distance of Chelsea and City delaying their title win celebrations.
  • Scousers get another 2 big games against Barcelona/Real/Bayern, resting more key players for the PL top4 race.
  • Liverpool finish 5th and Keita, Salah etc. will gegen-press in Russia on Thursdays in 2018/19.

Here is Fat Sams chance to endear himself to the Everton fans. Send the team out to boot the cnuts in the derby before they have the Champions League tie. He's horrible enough to do it aswell .

Can some of you Stephen Hawking Caf types answer me this. Does this mean Manchester United would have drawn Bayern at home of they hadn't bottled it v Sevilla? Is the world like that?

No complaints from me. One is certainly out and the other most likely goes against Barcelona, Bayern or Madrid.

I fully expect as does pretty much everyone else that Barca and Bayern to advance with little fuss.

Juventus I fancy to beat Madrid as they seem to always do over two legs. I view that as about 65/35 Juventus. City should beat Liverpool but I'd say that's a little closer at 60/40.

Of the teams that can actually win it only really Juventus I'd be fairly happy for.

Absolutely perfect draw!! Couldn't have picked it out better with my own fair hands and I was amazed by the few people in here that we're actually bemoaning that draw (well United fans anyway). One of them is out and the remaining team will have a 1 in 4 shot against Europes finest. It certainly brought some much needed joy to the end of my working week :D

Who i would prefer to win the CL in order:

Sevilla
Roma
Juventus
Bayern
Barcelona
Real Madrid
City
Liverpool

Come on, Liverpool. Win this

Impossible to tell, can't say for certain everything would have been the exact same and the same balls picked out etc etc

If y'all are bummed about the Sevilla match, then at least enjoy a small consolation. Watching the Man C vs Liverpool match, you're going to enjoy what I get to enjoy whenever Madrid play Espanyol - the ability to deeply hate every single person on the pitch at the same time. It really de-stresses the brain to get it all out during one match.

Hahahaha amen!

Barcelona - Roma
Sevilla - Bayern
Juventus - Real Madrid
Liverpool - Manchester City

Barcelona - Bayern
Real Madrid
- Manchester City

Real Madrid - Bayern

Would hate to see Madrid win it 3 in a row but they're experts at stepping up it when it matters and winning these knockout matches.

Anyone but Citeh or Liverpool.

I can see why you guys want to be seen as relevant but it’s not borne out by reality.

United fans practically had City scarves on in the run in for the 2014 league title. That’s how little it meant.

Your success is seen as illegitimate and therefore meaningless. Like a sort of ‘default mode’ when a proper non doped club can’t win it that year.

Liverpool winning would be real and horrific. And a truly exceptional achievement to be fair.

They won’t though. You’ll finish the tie at Anfield. All this Anfield atmosphere stuff is pure garbage these days. They’ll wave a few flags and sing the karaoke version of YAWN at the start, then slowly recede into silence as City sterilise the game.

I agree that City cannot be a "nobody" but I don't think they pull the strings of many United fans like one would expect of a local rival. The whole state owned think has definitely turned them into a PSG type club in the eyes of many rather a Liverpool (not speaking of quality). So while City are not a Spurs or Chelsea, their success hasnt 'gotten' to me this season. It's more out of fear of them dominating the league we used to dominate /want to dominate than it causing real deep hurt due to it being City. Maybe it's also because many of us have not see any real United City rivalry.

City winning can always be attributed to them not deserving it due to the lottery they won. So in that sense it makes sense to be ambivalent to them winning vs Liverpool.

Pool have been our biggest rivals since forever and it's been a great joy for most of the people here for the last three decades to win everything while they've struggled. It would be absolutely horrible if they won the CL again especially since their fans have been so desperate for a win. You would never hear the end of it.

Who cares? Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich will be waiting for the winner. At least one will go out now. And the other will be kicked out by one of the above. Be thankful there's no chance of City vs Liverpool final. That was starting to become a bit worrying.

That clearly makes no sense, had they not met in the 1/4 finals, or 1/2 finals, as would be necessary to be a City Liverpool final both would presumably have had to meet Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich to get there, which you have also stated would kick out either City or Liverpool. I know it's been a tough week but let's try and keep a vague grip on reality.

I'm imagining something along the lines of Gary Lineker going
"Well let's see going into the kick off what the two best teams in England have to offer"
Then someone will say "hang on Gary, Spurs are doing well too"
And he'll say "yeah that's true, and don't forget Chelsea! I love Kante and put him in my all time premier league xi for some reason"
Then someone will lean right into a mic and whisper "Mourinho is a shithead" and the match will start.
Maybe throw in a joke about how it's a good job we're out, because both teams are far superior to us.

And then the co comentator will mention the prospect of meeting Barcelona in the semi final and Martin Tyler will go all glassy eyed say "ah yes, that wonderful night in Barcelona," avoid commentating on the match but crack one off bleating on about SAF for 90 minutes. It's all about pespective.....

I think it's a dreadful draw, in all honesty, especially either side of the derby. But the big difference for me this time is that we'll have Silva. We really, really missed him at Anfield earlier in the season and we never had control of the game with Gundogan in there. It'll be difficult at Anfield but I can't see us collapsing again.

A benefit to Liverpool progressing past City is that, unlike City, they won't have the league already wrapped up.
They'll be still in the top 4 hunt & won't be able to rest key players for the Champions League semi's.
I dread the idea of seeing Pep being able to bring in a whole new 11 to allow Silva & co to stay fresh...
