UEFA Champions League - 29/01/25

Any real reason two draws are needed? Could they not have drawn the rest of the tournament today? e.g. (winner of Brest vs PSG) vs Liverpool, (winner of Monaco vs Benfica) vs Barcelona for the round of 16, and so on.

So has the format worked then given a relatively speaking...massive side is going to be knocked out before the last 16?
I'd say yes, the idea the big side were going to not make it was a crazy one. Cities struggles and Reals + PSGS and Juves struggles early doors made it far more interesting than other years, even if inevitably none of the big boys went out in the group. The rarely do. What is interesting is there is we know for certain one of the faves won't even be in the last 16 and a couple of underdogs will be.

I also do think the fact there's extra games does create more dead rubber games on the final day though as opposed to how often the final games were a dead rubber for one team in a tie but not the other.

Can we ever not play City, if only for just a season, please?

Also, Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo, Bellingham at the same time looks very out of balance to me, unless they all work like beasts off the ball, and still I am not sure I would start all of them at the same time.

This isn't happening, I'm sure Rodrygo will come out of the bench for one of Mbappe or Vinicius if required. Anyway I think we will knocked them out, they've been trash lately so it might be a good thing to draw them this early on while they're still trying to regain form. Then if they knock us out then there's always the chance of them improving as the competition goes on.
