Yup I know at the start he had issues but he looks like he works and presses really well now. Still not his forte by any means but he's certainly dropped a lot of the lazyness. Was excellent without the ball in the 2 legs against City.
Exactly. It's actually impressive considering the freedom he's always been afforded for France and PSG

Yes, I did. He ran back and prevented a City counter as a matter of fact. Last time he did at Paris was 3-4 years ago.
That's simply not true and a 3 seconds google search will show you clips of defensive plays from 2024 for exemple. His problem is and always was consistency. He can do it when he feels like it, meaning not often.

Because Ancelotti adapts his systems to the strengths of the players he has available. He doesn't ask the players to adapt. (Mbappe defending etc)

When an Ancelotti team is good, he plays 4 at the back.
When an Ancelotti team is bad, he still plays 4 at the back.
= "adapts"

When an Amorim team is bad, he plays 3 at the back.
When an Amorim team is good, he still plays 3 at the back.
= "inflexible"

The double-standards.

No one. Absolutely no one, asks Ancelotti to play wing-backs when his 4-back system doesn't work, but everyone expects Amorim to play 4-backs when his wing-back system doesn't work.

You can't get around this. It's blatantly hypocritical double-standards.

Wasn't PSG kinda ass just a couple of months ago? I seem to remember them struggling just qualifying from the group.

Man, Barca and Flickball will have to do a lot more heavy lifting to keep Real from winning things this season.

Obvious exaggeration on my part but I've watched more than enough games for PSG/France to see he was never working on the defensive aspect of his game like that.

I sometimes watch these champions league games with players of the ilk of Timothy Weah, Luuk De Jong, an over the hill Perisic and Malacia and wonder how on earth United are playing as poorly as they are with the players we have
I believe there isn’t that big of a gap in the quality of a lot of footballers outside of the truly world class ones, and a lot of it is a mixture of confidence, trust in team-mates and manager and understanding their role. All of those things are badly missing at United at the minute.

So, you believe that Ancelotti is as stubborn and inflexible as Amorim. I disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion.

That's annoying, City gets away with a respectable 3-1 loss, instead of a trashing.

6-3 completely flatters us over the 2 legs. The gap between the teams has been vastly bigger.

Yes. I watched them against Arsenal and they looked awful. Looks like guys like Neves have settled in now and Dembele is the form of his life. Luis Enrique is a good coach. Must of changed things up. They actually look like a team now . Not a bunch of individuals

I disagree with the premise that Amorim is inflexible because he insists on 3-at-the-back, yet by the same measure you're unwilling to hold the same standard of criticism for Ancelotti when he insists on 4-at-the-back.

Surely you see the hypocrisy, in general, of the premise.

How is Amorim inflexible because he insists on 3-at-the-back, but Ancelotti isn't because he insists on 4-at-the-back. How is one more inflexible than the other? Why should Amorim capitulate and not Ancelotti?

It all stems from an assumption of superiority that 4 is better than 3. Your premise is biased and your conclusions also.

And the funny thing is that he didn't score tonight
