U21s: United vs. Southampton

Keane and Wooton should be in England U21, IMO. Also pretty shocking that Tunnicliffe, Lingard and Cole have largely been overlooked in the English Youth teams.

Wootton was unlucky for this past squad, given his recent appearances (League Cup/Champs Lge).

Keane not yet there yet. much more experienced CB's this term. next season, however, i'd almost expect it.

don't forget - most of the England U21 squad are either on loan or in/around their respective 1st teams. for example, i'd be picking a Will Hughes at Derby before i picked a reserve player - at any PL team. not that he's getting a call-up though

There was also a Borussia Dortmund scout in the stands probably looking at King.

I have a feeling King's future is best elsewhere, I'd rather we kept him but it's not fair on him, he will do really well I feel.

I also feel we would be best off letting King go. Like Macheda, Wootton and Bebe, he will go on to have a good career, maybe the best out the four of them, but will never have enough to play for United regularly.

This will probably also be the case with most of our current reserve crop. For me, Lingard, Cole, the Keane's, Tunnicliffe and Petrucci are the players with a chance of having a career at United, but even for these the jury is still out and have it all to prove.

It's a shame because I can remember clearly King was seen as a better prospect than Danny by many. It's a shame that injuries, bad loan moves has stagnated his career.

Not sure about that, Welbeck always displayed better technique, understanding, awareness etc. King was a very good goalscorer in the u18s but his all-round game still lacked behind Danny's.

Yeah he scored an absolute stonker against Burnley once, who knows what the future holds?

I'd not write off Wooton...
