Anyone else sad to see such a lack of interest in potential future players on the caf?
I guess Wilson and Lingard will not start against Ipswich

The chances of that happening are next to 0Johnstone needs a Championship loan asap!
And then he can be our next #1 when De Gea leaves next year.
The chances of that happening are next to 0
The latter, the first is a certainty.De Gea leaving or Johnstone becoming our #1?
The latter, the first is a certainty.
He won't be given a chance though. Why do you think that? He is very talented, and has a lot of the same qualities De Gea has (Reflexes, mentally strong, concentration).
Granted, it's hard to predict who will make it at senior level, but I think that if given a chance, Sam will make an excellent PL goalkeeper.
We almost sold DDG, and the solution was to sign another keeper, In a year, in all likelihood, we will do the same. You have to remember that even Romero is ahead of him in the pecking order, I cant see LVG making him his no. 1, especially in his last season. Why do you think that? Yeah I've got a feeling we had another few gears we could've worked through. Proffessional performance.Decent game, pretty entertaining, and some lovely goals. That XI looked as strong on the pitch as they did on paper. Not 100% concentration or commitment throughout, but they hardly needed it, Everton were pretty clearly outclassed.

Cant remember the last homegrown keeper to make it a top 10 UCL club. Dont just set yourself up for disappointment, thats all I am saying.
City actually bought him from ShrewsburyJoe Hart, i suppose.

I think he may end up being a good gk and not necessarily for United though, its harder than usual for a UCL club. Cant remember the last homegrown keeper to make it a top 10 UCL club. Dont just set yourself up for disappointment, thats all I am saying.

Its too risky though , especially for him. And they see him everyday in training, so there must be something. The problem with being a keeper is that one mistake and everyone is on your back. That is why the clubs want someone that has gotten the experience elsewhere before signing him.I know LVG has a history with Romero, but surely he can see that Romero is not good enough to be #1 for Manchester United. Johnstone is perhaps not good enough either yet, but at least he has age on his side and can still develop a lot.
Casillas at Real Madrid, Neuer at Schalke, Joe Hart at City(not a top 10 UCL club, but still a good team), but you are right about the lack of homegrown keepers at the best clubs.
Its the Birmingham loan which helped Hart. He played quite well there at a premiership level.Yeah, but he had played 50 something games at around that level, while Johnstone has played 70 odd.
Technically he isn't homegrown but similar circumstances in terms of breaking through. Hart wasn't bought as a readymade first choice.
And the city team is...For all the mock about City here watch them playing more youth players than us tomorrow.
And the city team is...
Caballero, Sagna, Otamendi, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernando, Toure, Navas, De Bruyne, Sterling, Aguero
Jack Butland is young, English, obtainable for realistic money and has experience and a huge upside. Sam is too big a risk at this stage as United hold realistic hopes and expectations of winning the PL next season.I really hope he's considered when De Gea leaves. Replacing De Gea with someone as good or better is not possible unless we buy Neuer, which I consider unlikely.
So why spend 40 million pounds on an older, only slightly better keeper, when we have Sam waiting in the wings?
