U18s: United 9-0 Blackburn

We want 10!! Let Scanlon and Biancheri get their hattricks.

Fletcher will probably get an assist for Kukonkis goal as well - some player heads the ball into his back and it rolls to Kukonki who scores :)

Once again high press forcing them into a mistake and Fletcher does well to find Scanlon who gets his hattrick.

Really good finish, right into the bottom corner.

Blackburn have always been pretty decent at youth level but United are a different level at the moment

Yeah - it's an insane combination of quality and quantity right now

too bad that wasn't a penalty so Biancheri could get his hat-trick

Absolutely love it how Adam Lawrence demands professionalism and keeps the team concentrated until the full-time whistle.

I feel for their #9 who I thought was quality despite the result.

Thought about the same thing. Had the same feeling last night about the Norwich-goalie, who looked really imposing. Not his fault that we scored 5 goals.

Wonderful performance and they just kept going even after going 5-0 up at half time. Scanlon with some beautiful finishes with either feet. POTM.

Too many players to mention so I’ll name two who were very good but went a bit under the radar.

Devaney was so, so good at RB. Led the team, defended well and supported the attack when needed.

Murdock - good distribution, made a few strong saves and claimed more or less every single cross.

I can't believe Kukonki is only 16. If he trains on, he could be a monster.

He’s physically a monster but he’s been exposed a bit at this level. And even with his strength I’d say Munro for example uses his body much better than him. Long way to go.

So...league goals - I think I got it right. 10 different goalscorers in 5 games :)

Biancheri 8
Scanlon 5
Mantato 2
Fletcher 1
Ibragimov 1 (p)
Thwaites 1
Kukonku 1
Musa 1
Plunkett 1
Baumann 1

It could also be time for James Overy’s debut tomorrow, considering Kamason (who has played full 360/360 minutes in the U18 PL so far) played the whole PL2 match tonight.
Could be the birth of a great career...

I'll add Dan Armer as well - bit strange to say in a 9-0 thumping but feels to me there's a quiet authority in everything he does, very quick to snuff out danger. Defence was the concern for me this season and I feel a bit more reassured the way he's started the season.

Tyler Fletcher too - not under the radar today with all those assists but like the way he's started the season as well after being a bit peripheral and Jack getting all the limelight in their first season with us.

Am also a little higher/less critical on Kukonki than the Caff as a whole I think - clearly very raw and far from the finished product but so much to like about his profile.

Yeah Armer was his composed self. Even on his ”weaker” right side. And I’m so happy Tyler Fletcher has started the season so strongly, after some injury issues last season.

That’s a good trait to have.. especially young. Without trying to drag the first team into every thread, they are way too cautious for me, especially when on top (as shown in two or three games this season).

I like ruthfulness.

Completely agree.

Blackburn definitely reined their attacking ambition in and went damage limitation second half as well, so to still push on and score four more is a very good sign.

One thing I noticed regarding that ruthlessness was that at 8-0 up Biancheri and Ibragimov were arguing with each other because one didn’t pass to the other.

Going to be a romp to the north title no real challenge. Watched Brighton few weeks back and they look a proper team in South league. United Brighton final at OT

I was about to say we could with having the first team attend a few of these games to learn about keeping the foot down when you’re on top.

How did the Sunderland City game finish?
