Tyrell Malacia | Romano: Here we go…

Because moving to Europe makes them less likely to receive a call up and getting paid by your national team and club are mutually exclusive
I just checked that Mbappe got 17k a game for France in the 2018 World Cup and the English players get about 2k a game.
Telles gets 85k a week at Utd.....he would have to be dragged out of the club screaming because he gets nowhere near that figure anywhere else.

Did you miss the bit about sponsorships?

Give it up mate...put up some figures as I think you are talking out of your arse!
How the feck would I know what Telles makes from starring in a Brazillian commercial?

You dont think he can offset 10-20k/w less by having better branding and sponsorship in a nation of 214 million people? They're the highest profile NT in the world.

No idea :wenger::wenger:

No one is a little concerned with so many Dutch signings??
I think the Dutch league is one of the leagues where there’s value at the minute for good players. We have so many needs that it makes sense that we’re scouting outside the top five leagues. Used to be good value in France but seems to have diminished somewhat this season.

From the reports and videos he reminds me of AWB, Telles has gotten worse the longer he's been here but we need a starting RB more than a back-up LB.

Nobody would care about him if he fecked off back to Porto.

His sole marketability is that he's a Manchester United player, regardless of whether he's warming the bench or not.

So no, this really wouldn't work.

If you don't think Brazilian internationals have "marketability" I don't know what to tell you

That's not what I'm saying, is it?

You are insinuating that by leaving United and playing regularly at a lesser club he will improve his marketability, which is total nonsense.

You said: his "sole marketability" comes from being a United player. Which does mean you think he has no marketability as a Brasil player.

I said that he wouldn't lose out on much if he dropped 10-20k/w on salary if it meant maintaining his place in the Brazil squad.
His contract only runs 'till 2024 and there's a world cup coming up.

Look at how a player as bang average as Hulk become world famous off of playing a world cup.
You don't think he earned some money starring in a Brazilian cornflakes commercial? The Brazil squad is a world wide brand.

Between losing the appearance fees not playing for United, not receiving appearance fees for playing for Brazil, no prize money for winning games for Brasil at the world cup (which runs into the 100-500k range during the knockouts, and losing out on sponsorships and marketability, I'd wager he wouldn't lose out on much moving to a lesser a club at a slightly smaller contract.

This is purely a hypothetical anyway, as it hinges on the notion he has no pride, doesn't give a shit about his career and only cares about money. From the looks of it he enjoys playing football.

I don't think Erik wants Telles or Williams as LB options next season, and that Malacia's smirk when asked about United wasn't just him trying to generate interest.

I think most of us were shaking our heads as well this season on many of our players.

I don't think Ten Hag really rates fullbacks who can basically just cross. Seems like he'd rather just play a midfielder there.

I am a fan of this signing, but this tweet confusingly sounds negative for me. What does FdJ deal have to do with a LB? We need a good Lb regardless. It's not like this left back cost 60mil or something. Does it imply our budget is so tight that 10-15mil more toward FdJ would cost us another signing?

 Amazing.
He's my favorite Eredivisie player character wise. He spends his free time reading books (and promoting literacy), but he's an absolute pitbull on the pitch.

Based on reporting, we can conclude ETH doesn't think so and thinks the midfield is a much greater priority than any other position.

Thought he was on the verge of joining Lyon?
It's been reported he has agreed terms, but their first bid was under 10 million. They've since submitted an improved second bid.

Everything is on hold until De Jong gets sorted. That’s the big one for Ten Hag.

Even FdJ is the ultimate priority, you can still do deal on some other positions. I meant the plan with or without FdJ doesn't mean a change from a LB profile of an AWB to a TAA. If you want TAA profile, then you just go for it regardless of FDJ, unless it's financial related. I don't think Malacia fee should be influenced by FdJ fee.

I don't think that's what the tweet is implying. It's probably budget related. If not it's because we're so incompetent we can only work one deal at a time, but I think it's the former.

Not sure why we are prioritizing LB over RB. Yes in a perfect world we need to upgrade on Shaw but I believe he is capable of much more than he showed last season, can't say the same about AWB and Dalot as they are both atrocious.

Shaw played 2.2k minutes last season and his form is very up and down. He was arguably just as bad as Maguire shortly before Ole's sacking, but brilliant in 20/21. Both Dalot and AWB are much better than Telles.

I can't recall Malacia ever missing a game for either club (but could be wrong on that one) or NT (u21s included) and he'd be relatively cheap.

Ironically your argument is based in perfect world scenario. In reality, when you see a good player with potential to be long term upgrade, you get him when he's available at affordable price. Because he may cost a fortune next summer. And even if you try to get the best available RB in this window, there is no guarantee that RB position would be fixed. Best available doesn't mean adequate, let alone long term proof. AWB is the result of best available signing married a twisted version of long term profile. Trippier was the one we should have looked at based on playing profile, not age profile.

A well run club should be able to allocate money for long term planning. It's not like Malacia is Amad kind of signing. Malacia should be able to come in and compete for the LB position.

IMO we will move Elanga to RB.

There is a reason we are haggling so much over 10-15 million for our Key Target this Summer and that is that we can't afford a LB if we pay full price for De Jong. Hence why this whole thing is taking so long to negotiate with Barca and hence why we are waiting for the De Jong saga to wrap up first so we are 100% sure that we have the money for Malacia.

I also imagine that our board must have been very unpleaeantly surprised to find out that nobody wants to bid for our fringe players since they are on insane wages, hence why this conundrum with haggling over 10 million for our No.1 target.

Transfer window closes in September so if we target FDJ for another 5/6 weeks we’ve a good solid month to get Malacia
Lyon have already had a bid rejected. Its not as if hes not a player other clubs don’t have an interest in

Shaw and Telles are much better options than Dalot and AWB so this lad better be dynamite

I have a suspicion Telles is someone we might actually be able to sell handily enough though, so in a way replacing him might be easier than replacing AWB.

I've said it before, We should only be targeting players are we think are either title challenging ready or will be ready in 2 years time. I believe This guy fits that profile. I'm sure Ten Haag also someone in mind for the right back role.

It makes no sense, but then again there must be a reason for lack of activity in other areas outside of De Jong. Either we're incapable of seriously progressing on more than 1 deal at once because we're run by complete amateurs, or we're that skint that we need to know exactly how much De Jong has cost before we commit to spending money elsewhere. Either way we're fecked.

We have about 6 areas of the team that are weaker than our left back situation, so I'm confused by this rumour. We must be confident we have a buyer for Telles if we make this deal.

Because FDJ is a must signing, basically we are signing the most priority one that cost lot of money first to make sure we can afford to sign FDJ. We don’t want to sign Malacia, Antony or whatever and then we realise we don’t have the money left to buy FDJ. Once we sign FDJ, then the club can see how much do they left to spend the money on left back, centre back, may be another midfielder, winger, and etc.

Let’s face it both our RB and LB were largely shite last season, and need proper replacement. It’s all about whoever are suitable to ETH who is also available in market in right price, and whether we still have the budget to pursue them.

We all know ETH admire both Timber (CB/RB) and Malacia (LB). One is not coming because of WC year, so naturally we may go for the other one instead, given our limited budget.

Really like the look of him. Surprised we didn't get this one done early. Makes a lot of sense even though rb is a bigger need.

Yeah frustrating he's not a RB as think that's where the greater need is in the first XI
