That smile makes it look were into him.
Still think he's too young but the price is good and his ecl performance was decent, so I wouldn't mind seeing him here.

Looks like a nice lad as well.
He'd be a project player. Shaw will be our number one for as long as he's fit so we just need someone who can be relied upon to cover injuries and play in the cup competitions while also being the eventual succession plan when Shaw gets older. Know very little about him but it does seem like he has the potential to be that player.

The thing is, Luke shaw isn't very old to begin with so unless he has a sharp decline beginning with his 30s or unless this kid overtakes him fast he's gonna play back up for a rather long time, not sure if that's the best step for his career at this point if he's looking to be a world class player.

Unless we try to convert him into another position.

With the amount of injuries Luke is suffering in a whole season that will be pretty a lot.

Shaw is never fit. Can't wait to see 8 more years of mediocrity from our best in the world left back, when he bothers to show up. Get Telles out and this kid in and give Shaw a right kick up the ass.

Shaw's United career is mostly a sharp decline anyway

Then if we get this kid , let's if he has the heart to seize the moment, because if he does he could potentially lock down the spot for his own.

Yeah, I mean he'll be 27 going into this season so he's likely at his peak now. I suspect with his injury history and susceptibility to weight gain that Shaw isn't going to have Dani Alves durability either. It's a fair point but there will be always be plenty of minutes for United's back up LB so long as Shaw is first choice so don't think they'd be wasted years.

Shaw has a year left on his deal, with an option to trigger it for another year but that would bump up his 150K wage. He's already not meriting the wage he's getting, and he can't stay fit. We won't do a complete overhaul in one window, but I cannot imagine Shaw will be kept around unless he has a super consistent and injury free next season.

We really have to have proper competition for him, the bar is so low.

Well I disagree about Shaw not being worth that much. I think he's one of our better players and probably a top ten left back in the world. He's technically excellent, super press resistant, very athletic even if his conditioning isn't always top rate and good in one on ones. Having said that, my point and the one made in subsequent post is that Malacia would still be a nice pick up because with Shaw's injury history, there will be minutes available to play immediately.

Nice assist today for Weghorst's winner. Played very well, excellent player with the right mentality and attributes.

ETH will invite pressure by buying Dutch/Eredivisie players, but Malacia, Frenkie, Timber and even Sangare are great value for money buys.

reports have indicated ETH was interested in him when at Ajax.
I hope as a club we can avoid solely focusing on main targets and also buy squad options while they are still easily attainable.

Malacia and the Argentine at River Plate are examples of this.

We shouldn’t be buying squad options when there are gaping holes in the first team.

We should buy both is what I’m saying.

6mo later when Telles and Williams aren’t working out we’ll be asking why we didn’t buy Malacia for 12m while he’s tearing it up at Lyon.

According to Sébastien Denis of footmercato Olympique Lyonnais doesn't want to pay more than 10 mil while Feyenoord wants 20 mil.

Plan B of Lyon is according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt (very known and trustable source) Pedrosa of Espanyol.

I feel like the Dutch players who've struggled here are often not great athletically (Clasie, Klassen, Berghuis) but the first 3 guys in that group all are. Haven't seen more than a half of Sangare.

Feyenoord apparently holding out for €20m while Lyon want to pay €10m. At that price point this fees good to me.

All the videos etc give you a little glimpse of a player. ETH will now more about him than most coming from same previous league.
The Squad needs priority in this Window Imo . CM first . Then go from there .

He's got a lot of traits that remind me of Evra, and that's a good thing. I've been wanting to see another Evra come from somewhere! I hope we get him, was surprised to see him linked with Lyon for so little because he looks like he could be great.
I like him, but I don't see it happening unless Telles departs.

Yeah this fee or the rumoured 20M to get Raum from Hoffenheim look like pretty low risk buys, if you figure Telles moves for like 8M and the wages are similar or we even save a bit there.

Williams could easily fetch £10-15m too

That seems high to me. He can cover both fullback spots, so that's a huge plus for a team with 2 decent starters and no real cover, but I think he's more like a 6-8M signing. Walker-Peters moved for 12M with a similar profile but he's certainly a better player and Soton got to see him on loan for half a season first.

Yeah I really like the look of Malacia. A good young talented footballer available for a reasonable fee. Seems just a sensible deal for us.

Telles and Williams won’t want to leave though.
They will when you tell they're not fit to wear the shirt. Our second choice LBs being that bad is unacceptable.

Telles would probably make more money playing regularly for less somewhere else. I bet Brazilian internationals make crazy money.

Williams is clearly desperate to play.
Telles is on 85k a week at Utd
What club in their right mind would match that?

Holy shit, did you even read my post?
I read your post
Have you seen Telles play this season??????
If he gets picked to play for Brazil in anything more than a friendly then their coach needs to be sacked!

No one is a little concerned with so many Dutch signings??
We won't sign more than 2 Dutch players. Most of the links are just lazy journalism.

Yes I have, he's dogshit, but he still receives call ups if he plays regularly. I'm sure the sponsorship deals are very, very lucrative even for a squad player. Mate, it's Brazil. You think I was referring to world cup prize money?

Yeah I don't see more than a couple either, just remember the links to many when LVG was appointed as well

Well silly me!
And there was me thinking all the real football money was in Europe and that was why the South Americans want to get the feck out of there and get to Europe ASAP

Because moving to Europe makes them less likely to receive a call up and getting paid by your national team and club are mutually exclusive
