Is Goldberg reliable?
He got something about Vidal pretty wrong a month back, he said the deal was close or close to being done, so I'm saying no.
Is Goldberg reliable?
I honestly didn't think this summer would be anything like the last. It is starting to look like it will be now.
Last Summer was much worse, we just didn't realize it then.
I've never seen this Christian Martin dude play, but I trust the club and LVG to know his strengths.
Acutally I don't think so. Most fans this time last year were unhappy but still thought we would get top 4. Now, I would say the majority don't think we have a chance of getting top 4 with the current squad. If (as I expect) we don't do any further business, then this summer is easily worse.
Replaced the defensively woeful Evra, a new CB and a much needed CM. How is it in anyway worse than last season?

I agree. Shaw, Herrera and Rojo are brilliant additions but we don't look like we will sort out the centre of midfield. The other teams around us have strenghtened further bar Liverpool (losing Suarez) I think we will really struggle to make top 4 unless we see Arturo Vidal and/or Angel Di Maria sign.Acutally I don't think so. Yes, but in hindsight last summer was worse as we failed to strengthen which resulted in a disaster. This summer we actually have spent quite a bit and still in the market to further buy. Its only that our woes have increased which makes it look worse. In isolation, last summer was a far bigger disaster than this.
OK, so we signed like 3 players, 2 of which are first team players and none of them good enough?
I trusted such a big club will not be so naive and terrible with transfers...

We had so many holes that it is sadly not enough. Atleast Luke Shaw will be a success, Herrera will be having a tough time, because he will always be compared to Rakitic, Kroos and Fabregas. Probably end up as a very good player, sadly not world class. I have no idea about Rojo, but from what've read it's either he'll become a legend or a massive waste of money.
If you add 2 more proven/world class players, everything looks much better. Let's say Khedira and Di Maria
RvP - Rooneyand the team looks great on paper and you'd still have players like Januzaj, Smalling, Rafael, Carrick, Kagawa and Welbeck. It's not everything that bad, but without players in the class of those 2. Top4 is going to be tough.
Mata
Shaw - Khedira - Herrera - Di Maria
Rojo - Evans - Jones
Given that we have the great Ed, I won't be surprised if we don't sign anyone else. It'll be very annoying if both Cuadrado and Benatia stay at their clubs this summer and we don't sign anyone else but Rojo.
If we get Di maria i suspect it would be 4-3-3. I dont see Carrick, herrera or Fletcher being particularly effective as the defensive point of the diamond. Problem with 4-3-3 is that potentially Mata and RVP dont play.we're switching to either 4-3-3 or diamond if we get di maria
Herrera needs a class partner, as Carrick and Fletcher will always be carrying some injury or other and Cleverley is a wimp. The poor lad will suffer for it.We had so many holes that it is sadly not enough. Di Maria at RWB? Ok.
Herrera needs a class partner, as Carrick and Fletcher will always be carrying some injury or other and Cleverley is a wimp. The poor lad will suffer for it.
What an utterly wank post.
In this system, yes. Don't underestimate his versatility. Of course his best position would be in a 4-3-3, but with the defenders we have right now I think Van Gaal will stick with the 3-4-1-2 and there is certainly the RWB the position for him.
Yes, Herrera needs a partner, badly. Neither Fletcher,Carrick, Kagawa I dare even say Carrick, given his injuries and age, should be the automatic starter next to him.
Maybe not often, but he sure as hell has to play better than last season or we are in trouble. We are pinning our hopes on one of last seasons worst players. I am hoping it was just the Moyes Effect. How often is Carrick injured?
Well, pardon my French there opticon but the whole world sees we need to add quality to this squad. Some players even if seemingly performing at times, are just not good enough. Others even if good enough or with, the overused, potential are too injury prone to rely on.
boo-hoo tell me off just because i expect us to do better than this.
Im sorry mate, but that is absolutely bonkers. We are not signing Di Maria full stop, but if in some alternate reality where we actually did, there is not a chance in hell we would play him there.
Deary me.
You're probably one of those guys who thought that Ancelotti is bonkers, playing Di Maria as a CM. I don't think we're signing Di Maria either, but let's switch formations to have Di Maria in it.
Rooney - RvP - Di MariaBoth look very weak in defence and key players not involved/or out of position. That's why I think we'll stick with the 3-4-1-2 and that Di Maria could be very good as the RWB
Khedira - Mata - Herrera
Shaw - Rojo/Evans - Smalling - Rafael
or
RvP
Januzaj - Rooney/Mata - Di Maria
Khedira - Herrera
Shaw - Evans/Rojo - Smalling/Jones - Rafael
