I think what Liverpool needed was a deeper squad. I think they have got that now but the worst part for them is that Suarez is gone.

It'd all be good business for them if they kept Suarez, but since they sold him they needed another top class or world class player IMO, rather then loads of squad players. On Lovren really you could say improved the starting 11.

Its about the system with them and whether Rodgers can get these players to perform similarly as a unit. Even last season, bar Suarez, they had no "individual" that'd make a top team nervous.

Sterling and Sturridge should considering the number of times they won us points. If Sterling lifts his game again, he'll be scary.

You reckon they are players that'd make top teams nervous? I dont. Both are good players obviously specially Sturridge(Sterling's still what I call a massive talent rather than an established top player) but neither are on a level that'd make team nervous about them. Your system gets the best out of your attackers, its a different case.

It's a bit of both. What I will say regarding Sterling is that he'd get into any team in this league on the form he showed after the Hull disaster last season.

I don't quite think they need another world class player tbh, they are really good as a team cohesively and their attacking players possess plenty of pace, technique and decent amount of quality. Liverpool's game last season was always more about the blistering pace of their attack and their brilliant teamwork rather than a game based on individual brilliances(like Tottenham with Bale). The likes of Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge are all good players who seem to be on the same wavelength and played good high tempo football. Remy is rather underrated here and we don't know how Markovic and Lallana will fit in, although they do seem to be the kind of players who will be at ease at Liverpool. The only real benefit they could get from a top notch signing would be the lift that it will provide to their fans and the players alike. It just remains to be seen if they can iron out their defensive flaws and a lack of a prolific goalscorer other than Sturridge. Remy and Lambert are good goalscorers but they do not seem to be first team players with Lallana, Sterling and Coutinho ahead of them. Its these players lack of goalscoring record which shoudl be the prime concern for them.

Whilst saying all that, I don't like Liverpool and their fans so I certainly wouldn't mind if they fail miserably. But I don't buy into the notion that they have to buy a top notch player to replace Suarez. In fact without the shadow of Suarez looming over them, there is always the possibility that Sterling and Coutinho could take their game to the next level and I for one wouldn't enjoy seeing that.

They already ran a similar story a few weeks back claiming that di Maria agreed terms with United, not that reliable I think. Are there any other sources out there who make a similar claim? Btw good job on the tweets Adnan, you truly are a saviour of the muppets, bringing hope in times of darkness :)

This is like the Hazard saga, different sources claiming he'd agreed to join a different club. Still think it will be PSG mind

---------De Gea
---Smalling Evans Jones
Cuadrado Vidal Herrera Shaw
----------Mata
-----Rooney--van Persie

This is the first proposed team I've put on here in muppet season so don't judge me.
If we are going to plat a 3-5-2 then this would be a brilliant team. Cuadrado would be an ideal signing as a RWB imo.

Maybe, I just don't see the point in spending that kind of money when we are desperate for centre backs and midfielders. We need a left back more than right back.

This Di Mara stuff is nonsense. A bandwagon that no longer exists left with a number of journos on it. Nothing to see here.

We've just spent a fortune on a left back and have only Rafael on the right.

Besides, there is money to spend. Singing Cuadrado won't stop the in buying other players.

Yes but we also have no back up. What were to happen if Shaw gets injured? We already have Rafa and Valencia for the right side if we are playing with wing backs.

Valencia has been decent at RWB so far. Rafael is there too.

Then Janko and Varela should actually be suited more to RWB as well in this formation.

Cuadrado is not a right back, btw. He can play RWB in this 3-5-2 at best but will be defensively suspect till he adjusts regularly atleast. Probably as much of a RB as Valencia is.

He'd be a useful upgrade though as he can play number of positions including striker and Both Wings and even AM if need be.

No reason why Valencia should not be tbh, unless we upgrade that position after CB and CM. Young won't be probably.

Valencia is alright I guess, but I don't care for all his support passes. He's better as a full back imo, where he can make powerfull runs from deep positions , make space, and be in full speed when receiving the ball. Then, he is very hard to stop for defenders because of his power and speed.
He just seems unable to beat a man when receiving the ball standing still, because of his one dimensional play and one footedness, which happens more often when playing as a wing back, imo.
