It's beyond embarrassing. They'll start calling Wayne "Mickey" next.

this will be the only way I'll ever remember Mickey Rooney

What "brush off" is this? There is no substantive information to say that we've even enquired about him, let alone bid for the player. What are these "reports" the Mirror mention? This paper is conducting its own transfer business, without contact from club, agent or player. They have even taken the story further and suggested that this fictitious bid was inadequate and we should now increase our offer in line with Juve's hypothetical, and no doubt farcical, valuation. There isn't a scintilla of verifiable evidence anywhere in this fiction to indicate even the merest hint of this being true.
The only thing you can glean from an article like this is that a club official has come out and said that Vidal is in fact available if the money is right. If this player was non-transferable, as Juve had suggested most of the summer, then the club's director would not be talking about the player in any way, shape or form.
I really feel this saga is running along very similar lines to the Schneider debacle that played out several years ago, with the media doing its best to fabricate an interest where little or none actually exists.

We should be all over Khedira. Would sort our midfield issues out immediately, very underrated player.

I agree, Khedira proved how good he was at this World Cup and it's always difficult to shine in a star-studded Madrid side including Ronaldo.

Khedira wouldn't sort out our midfield. And he is not what Arsenal needs, they need a top holding midfielder to replace Arteta.

I think he'd be a good signing especially as it seem it will be around £20m but if we're in for Vidal then understandable if we have no interest in him.

Of course he would.

--------------- Khedira --- Herrera ---------------

---------------------- Mata ---------------------

I'd rather we get a proper defensive mid than another box to box player to partner Herrera. Unless ofcourse, the player is simply that good like Vidal in which case its fine.

Khedira isn't naturally a CDM he gets forward a lot.

I've seen him play the deep role very well loads of times. He'd improve us immediately, far more than Fellaini, Cleverley and Fletcher could!

Woodword is on MUTV now ...longer interview. No talk of transfers yet. Full interview at 7 tonight :)

He's better then what we have and is a hard worker and all, but he has pretty bad defensive positioning and as a defensive midfielder isn't that good.

I remember him playing with Modric in a two man midfield but he kept bombing forward, and also for Germany he plays more forward than both Kroos and Schweinsteiger which I thought was weird.

I'd like Khedira though he'd improve our options.

Khedira wouldn't be a progressive signing. People like to badger on here all the time about not signing players just because they're better than what we have. Another box-to-box midfielder who isn't better than Herrera isn't what we need.

He'd be too expensive and ask for too much probably. Talks with Real Madrid broke down because he asked for too much, Arsenal aren't willing to go that high so that is apparently off and probably Chelsea too. He'd improve our squad but he's not better then herrera individually and we could do a lot better given the probable price.

Agree, I still think he'll end up at Arsenal because it seems Madrid are forcing him out. If our interest in Vidal is true then it makes sense we aren't in for him.

Agreed, I don't want Khedira at all. For the prices being quoted I'd much rather we got De Jong, they're at a similar level but De Jong just happens to be older. I wouldn't view either as a long term solution for us so I'd rather the cheaper option.

I still remember the second leg of the Madrid tie when we essentially left Khedira unmarked while Welbeck stuck with Alonso and Madrid created nothing, as soon as they put Modric in for Khedira they became much more dangerous and we all know how that ended.

Why would you talk about Khedira not being creative enough in a game, then say you would prefer De Jong?

Is your main gripe that he is a box-to-box midfielder or that you don't think he's as good as Herrera? If the former, then what do you make of us going (apparently) in for Vidal?

Because de Jong is actually a holding midfielder, whilst Khedira is a box-to-box brawler with little productivity.

My main gripe isn't the fact that he is a box-to-box midfielder, it's that he isn't good enough to opt for over a holding midfielder. The case with Vidal is different because Vidal is easily one of the greatest midfielders in the world right now - Khedira isn't. If we do not get Vidal, I'd much rather see us go in for a holding midfielder like Carvalho or Gustavo.

It would be nice if the MEN could get some of their own gossip. What a shocking paper it is. Full of city fan journos who don't have a clue.

So Swansea lose two of their most important players and Sigurdsson and £5m? That's a bit rubbish.

I think Spurs will sell Lloris this summer if they get a massive bid from the likes of PSG.
