Really, now that we've signed this massive 'double what anyone else gets' kit deal, Adidas are gonna want some big name signings to wear them right? :D

We're always pulling out. Come on Woodward, go balls deep, finish this off and make us a Vidal baby that we can love and cherish.

Funny you should mention that "new player" tag line.. that's what good old Paddy said this evening about Fletch. I'm sorry but he was an okay player before his illness, to me it's only sentimental reasons why he still has a contract with us. He will never get back to the standards needed. Anderson is a waste of time and wages as well, need to get shot of him. Cleverley and Fellaini or no better either. I actually don't think Petrucci is all that, didn't impress last couple of loan moves, Pereira seems a better bet but how many number 10's does one team need?

I like Strootman, I like him a lot but coming back from the injury he had and pinning all our hopes on him half way through the season makes very little sense to me.
I really can't see Fletcher ever being back to the form he had before his illness, and i agree with the sentimental reason you gave. Even if he did return full time, would he be good enough to get us back to the Champions League? With the way Arsenal and Chelsea are strengthening, and City being the force they are, are we guaranteed to get back into the top 4 without some quality additions? Yes Liverpool have lost Suarez, but they might, and it's a BIG might, get some great players in and fight to stick around in the top 4. Would we really have the quality to break back into that group? Carrick is a good player, but he's going to be 33 come the new season! How long can we rely on him? Will Cleverley EVER come good? I really don't think so. People saying van Gaal might be able to transform him... yes he's a good manager, but he's no miricle worker, and you can't polish a turd!

What really annoys me here though, is if we really are baulking at his £34m fee, why exactly were we prepared to spend, and actually sanction a £37m offer for Mata when we didn't need him? Yes he's an absolutely quality player, but we didn't need him. We already had Rooney and Kagawa in his preferred role. Yet Vidal, who is world class and plays in a position we are desperate to strengthen, is too expensive? Makes no sense at all, none in the slightest.

He wants the move, please everyone relax, the mail and mirror have been briefed but it's a negotiation tactic used once before for Vidal when the price was up at around 37m, we want to get him for 32 and consider the sale of Evra as 2m+ ontop. Equalling the 34m.

We hold all the cards here and we know it, Juve have spent alot of money thus far, money they don't have. Vidal will 100% be a United player it's just a matter of how much. I would be extremely shocked if they didn't sell him to us for 34 or even 32m. They need to pay for Itrube, Morata and Evra not to mention their wages.

The deal is most definitely not off by any stretch of the imagination. Woodwards pulling favours and got the media doing his job for him. The only place you should believe is anything coming out of Chile as that is where Vidal is spending his holidays.

Put the scare mongering to bed, sleep easy. It's just another way of saying "take it or leave it" Juve won't seĺl Pogba unless it's an insane fee, none of their other players would pull in a big sort of sum Vidal is the next best and believe me they will sell. Why give up guaranteed cash.

Also please remember they want Evra off us, we could easily refuse to sell to them. This is all to do with that deal too.

Muppets, take a step back, chill, it's a matter of time.

We don't hold all the cards when they have the player. They could just as easily sell him to another big club or initiate a bidding war to drive up the price. If we're baulking at £37 million or whatever ridiculously low for Vidal price it is then they could very well get pissed off and just refuse to sell him to us.

Besides, with Evra, so what if we refuse to sell him? They know we've just spent £30 million on another left back and Vidal is far more important to them than an ageing 33 year old left back who refuses to defend.

It'd just be typical for us to play silly beggars over the one player that would really help us and then he joins one of our rivals a week later instead. Just stump up the damn cash and get him to Old Trafford, stop fecking about Woodward. What difference does it make between £32 and £37 million anyway, ridiculous to try and negotiate that much off a player so good and so vital.

This transfer is getting so cray, £35m too much? Pure madness.

I think with LVG in charge that'll make us better than last season even with the same squad but yes I agree, we are still behind City/Chelsea and now Arsenal in key areas of the pitch and even with LVG it'll be hard to close that gap unless we invest heavily and cut the dead wood we have been carrying. I think Liverpool will struggle this season, ala Spurs if you like. They won't replace Suarez, he made them click.

Incredible.

When we sign De Vrij and Blind this week, this place is in danger of exploding.

There is a lot of Vidal potential energy being built up and the result might be messy.

The only way we're not paying £34m for Vidal, is if we're paying £20-25m for Toni Kroos.

That's just a thought, if it is true he hasn't chosen yet, I'd assume he still has an offer from us despite reports.

I'm looking forward to seeing if those 2 come.

If we signed De Jong this week I think we'd actually hear of a few muppet-related suicides.

The other point to make is Van Gaal's seemingly public courtship of Vidal during his press conference of the Chile game.

He was meant to be target number 1, "Van Gaal is obsessed with signing Vidal" etc, now we're not going to pay £34m? Not a chance.

Even with FFP sanctions in place, City will still manage to strengthen, and they can sell some of their 'rejects' for quite a bit of money and buy some more quality. Chelsea and Arsenal are going to strengthen more, it's inevitable really. It's going to be a very very tough league this season, and even with van Gaal, i can still see us struggling in quite a few positions. Even in defence, we've lost Ferdinand, Vidic and quite possibly Evra... Thats a whole crap load of experience gone, and it needs replacing with equal quality and experience. Shaw has amazing potential and i can't wait to see him play for us, but our CB options do worry me a little. But i have faith in van Gaal to get a few good players in.

I do agree with you though, we need to get rid of the dead wood. Some players are taking their selection for granted. Like last season, Young and Valencia, no matter how bad they played, they were constantly selected and put into the starting 11. It was utterly crazy, but the same happened under Sir Alex too, makes me wonder why to be fair.

You are truly the poster of solid shite. You should trademark your nonsense.

We seem to be really schizophrenic about the market. Brilliant at playing it to bring money in, but really poor at understanding the market when it comes to paying money out. Have we not learnt that if you want top class players you have to pay top prices?
We spent £37mil for Mata, so clearly we do.

I can't believe we'd balk at £34M for the best CM in the world, it's just ridiculous and if it is a strategy I honestly wish we'd for once just stop fecking around and trying to get a few bucks off, just pay the price for the best and lets forget Hummels and Di Maria, sign a couple of the Dutch squad players and get on with the season.

Can any back up the claim that Red Issue said we've pulled out?

If this one is over, it's hilarious we're all so disappointed because the story never really got going! No reported bid, no false reports that we'd signed him, not one of the usual reliable Manchester journos have even said we're properly in for him. I'd rank this saga firmly behind the likes of Lucas/Sneijder/Thiago, but still feels as big a blow as all of them.
Red Issue said we were going for Mourinho, about 4 minutes before Moyes was announced.

Take from that what you will.

I just don't believe that we aren't willing to bid that much. We were willing to go up to £37m for carvalho and bid that much for mata, yet now we aren't willing to go to £34m, allegedly, for a player who should probably be £40m? Bullshit. Especially right after we announce the sponsorship deal. Either Juve doesn't want to sell at all or are asking for over £45m, Vidal doesn't want to come or he actually does come.

If this information is true then either LVG has contradicted himself or LVG is going to be more livid than us. Something doesn't quite add up. I'm not throwing my toys out of the pram just yet. I'm going to eat a habanero chilli every hour in Vidal's honour until he signs.
Is he secretly Mexican?

Bid £28m for Ander Herrera, no international caps, not much media coverage outside of Basque country.

Refuse to bid £34m for one of the most hyped/well known top quality midfielders in the world.

Yeah... no.

If Woody wants a marquee signing they dont come any fecking cheaper than £34m. Christ the man was toying with paying £50m for Cavani.

Hopefully what this is is the club feeding journalists a line about our interest in Vidal waning to keep the focus off.

Calm down guys. Stop being gullible.

If we are indeed in for Vidal, there is no way in feck that we would turn down a deal because of 34 million. That is just so ridiculous that I am amazed how many of you have bought it.

We paid 27 for Fellaini. If Arturo wants to come, United will get him. van Gaal would rip Woodward a new one if he found out we turned down Vidal for 34 million.

THIS STORY IS BULLSHIT.

There are few things worse in the civilised world than football fans pretending to be ITK. The lowest form of attention seeking.

This is superb.

You should start going to service stations though. They have chocolate bars fit for kings. The sheer majesty of the triple Snickers.

I'm away from the laptop for a little bit and this thread blows up, what's happened?

I had a quick look and people are saying we do not want him for £34 Million? If so, I think all that is, is us posturing. We will pay £34 Million if needed.

People are getting their knickers in a twist here when, deep down we all know, these ITK's know absolutely nowt!

Even Ogden, who was well informed, knows shag all now!

Read this tweet and think about it.

And that fair amount will defo be north of 40M. So all the papers who quote with 34M are just spouting shite and haven't got a fecking clue.

How many signings or other news has he got right so far?(Solidstate).

If it's more than half than we should give him another chance to prove that he really is an ITK.

I think we will sign him for around £40-45m. If LVG really wants this guy he will demand we pay for him, that's my opinion anyhow!

If we are actually down to negotiating figures and it's in and around that ballpark number, then i am confident we'll get him whatever has or has not been briefed.

Yup! They are crippling us finanically. What's that? We've just signed a shirt deal worth in excess of £75mil a year? We are continually posting record profits despite having failed to secure a European spot? But..but... They're crippling us!

"Yeah, he hacked off my leg. But guess what I found when I fell bleeding all over the place? A hundred quid note! I'd never have seen it otherwise! We should thank him, really ..."
