UEFA has ruled that this sponsorship deal has failed their FFP test, so that will at least not count in full for balancing their budget. It could very well be the case that Di Maria will choose PSG over us, also because they play in the CL, but ironically the possible purchase of him could be so costly it could trow them out of the CL.

Thanks for the info reg. the sponsorship deal mate. Wasn't aware that it'd been ruled out. :)

Yes indeed it seems strange that they're relentlessly pursuing top end player when it might cost them European football and organic revenue to balance the books. Confounds basic logic.
 
I think we'll look at Depay if Di Maria heads to PSG. I'm quite glad we weren't signing him for the figures banded about, he wasn't a cert to excel in the PL. His playing acting and inconsistency would be awful to watch, much rather we bought another young, talented winger who isn't afraid to take a player on and doesn't fill his kegs up if he has a stinker of a match.

I don't think we need an experienced defender. Johnny Evans is now exactly that. We do need a top defender though whether he is young or old. Not really sure is De Vrij fits that billing.

It's numbers we need at the back. There's always one of them injured at some time or other.
