From what I heard, they refused to take the first penalty, rather than a penalty altogether? Huntelaar seems the most obvious choice for first (assuming it wasn't Sneijder or Robben). Never understand logic of leaving strikers to penalty #5 when you might not even get there.

I'm 100% sure that Huntelaar was supposed to take the last penalty, like with Costa Rica(where he was brought on specifically to take it).

Their penalty takers are RVP/Robben/Sneijder/Kuyt/Huntelaar in this order. With Argentina, it was to dangerous to keep Robin on if he couldn't play(like they did with CR), so they were short on 1st penalty taker, which is probably the one with most pressure so nobody else wanted to take responsability, I guess.

Sanchez to Arsenal will be made official today, say Mundo. 'Today' sounds more concrete than the 'mañana' of 'coming hours'.

Can someone explain to me why Liverpool want Swansea? I just don't get it.

Evra to Juventus should be done today, two-year deal worth £50k-a-week. United now in hunt for an understudy to Shaw #MUFC

An understudy to Shaw?! Just promote from within if thats the case, we should be in for someone for Shaw to be understudy to instead.

Sign Blind as backup for Shaw. Should be fairly cheap.
I would go all out for Hummels & Vidal too. I can't see us signing a winger though.

We're not helping our cause. Just adding to the amount of players we need.

I think we need to give Juve Evra to stand any chance of getting Vidal more than likely

We must have known about Evra being off for a while, wonder why we let Buttner go? I'm guessing because he's shite, but still. We must either be signing Vermaelen or Blind, can't see us getting a pure left back who knows Shaw is first choice.

Why would Evra sign for £50k p/w....surely he is on a lot more at Utd.

Ashley Cole's taking a massive pay cut too. I don't think the money is important for him, I think it's more a case of wanting to spend his final year or two in a sunnier climate in a slower and less physically demanding league.

I wonder did United and Evra have a deal in place, he signs his extension as precaution in case United don't get Shaw, as Southampton were being awkward. Then if the Shaw deal goes ahead, they let him off to Juve with little to no fuss.

I read recently that contracts for young and old players at United are strongly linked to appearances, especially when he has just signed a new deal he is most definitely in these circumstances.

Guaranteed salary over the year whether playing or not would obviously be more enticing. Doubt he would earn 3.5mil in the year if he remained at United.

If we're in for Ricardo Rodriguez after signing a 30m left back the only thing that makes since is a 5 at the back formation because he's way too good to be a sub.

.................De Gea
......Jones-Hummels-Shaw
Rafael---------------------Rodriguez

Shaw as an outside CB, he is 6'1 after all.

There is zero chance he will be played there.

Talks between Feyenoord and Southampton over the transfer of Graziano Pellé have reportedly broken down over the transfer fee #saintsfc

Pretty sure he was on £80k-£90k with us. As we will be receiving a fee, he will be receiving a portion of his contract as a loyalty bonus. He's then got a fresh 2 year £50k a week deal which is fair for a player of his age.
