It seems we are not in the running for Sanchez, Di Maria which is unfortunate as any one of them would be so perfect for us.

Cuadrado is a really interesting one. He's looked genuinely brilliant every time I've seen him. Does seem strange though that he's seen as an up and coming player at 26 when Nani is past his best at 27. Looks to have all the attributes we need in a wide player though.

Very little United news today it seems. Things have gone quiet again. Might not be a bad thing I guess
Let's hope its the calm before the storm.

I personally think Herrera and Shaw have been done deals for a long time, we are obviously now engaging "LVG's real targets"

No, it means that if they sign Kroos they won't sign Vidal.

Yup, so though Real may not be in for Vidal, Bayern will be.

Sure i read somewhere in this thread that Vidal went back on a verbal agreement he had with Bayern to sign for them before he went to Juventus?

Whether or not he had a verbal agreement is a matter of conjecture, but there were strong suggestions that everything was sorted except Rudi Voller and Bayer Leverkusen didn't want to sell to Bayern. They ended up selling him to Juve for less than what Bayern were offering.

If City don't get Benatia it's because Roma wants stupid money for him and Benatia wants stupid wages - even too stupid for City right now. I can't see us attempting to sign him if they don't.

As it is a twitter discussion thread in transfer forum, it will be better if we discuss transfer related tweets or tweets from official accounts of reliable/respected journalists. I don't see a point in tweets from randomers telling us that Fergie used Glazer's money shits and similar nonsense.

Although it seems many here like such bs, so, whatever...

Yes, 'some' like 'such bs' because it adds perspective and different ways of thinking about things. You'll have to use your facility of critical thinking to decide what to believe.

There are so many different things that could be relevant in a Twitter thread that it would be silly to make up individual rules about what does and does not belong. We should trust that the people who are doing such a great job posting to have brains of their own and use their judgment.

Or point out what looks irrelevant in the thread using your brains and give feedback and then let majority or modmins decide which sources to allow and which not.

I wasn't sure about the details, just remembered reading somewhere in the thread that a verbal agreement was in place, hence i finished the post with a question mark. Sounds feasible that Rudi Voller/ Bayer wouldn't fancy selling to Bayern to strengthen the competition.

i think they want 40m euros for him too? Dont know about wages, but Mangala isnt better. However he is 5 years younger. What i dont like about Benatia is that he goes to the African cup of Nations this year.

Why am I still seeing people suggest sticking Wayne Rooney out wide? He is a liability out there. If we don't go after Sanchez, Di Maria then we will have another season off Valencia/Young/Nani and players like Mata/Kagawa/Januzaj/Welbeck out of position.
So you want us to drop four of those five players? as RVP will be starting up front and theres only room for one behind him. Also I personally think Welbecks best position is out on the wing anyway. I'm more than happy with a front four of...

Mata----Rooney----Januzaj
----------RVP-----------
I know Mata and Januzaj are better playing in the number 10 role but they're also too good to drop. Of course I'd love someone like Sanchez or Cuardrado but they're not a necessity right now. CB and CM are! I know we have plenty to spend but we're not City or PSG with unlimited amounts. I think some people on here forget this.

As I am having the same discussion about Rooney/Mata/RVP in the Sanchez thread all I'll say is I'd very much like for us to get away from just playing people in different positions just to get them in the team. For me RVP/Mata has to start so if that means Rooney drops to the bench so be it.

There's zero pace in that front 4 and that is important in our league, we struggled to mount counters last season because we have no one that can carry the ball any distance and we have no one that can burn off defenders, we need at least one proper, top class pacey attacker brought in.

Thought Januzaj was reasonably quick and able to carry the ball?

This is something Van Gaal is known not to do. He won't force players into the starting line up especially if it upsets the balance of the rest of the team. There is zero pace in that forward line and we'll struggle against teams like we did last season.
