It's a better move for him than going to England would've been at this stage.

Genius or not, deeming him easily worth £42 m one day is something very few 18 year old genius reach, as an attacking mid he has 1 in 6 in the Scottish league and attracted attention from Sporting obviously, that doesn't even suggest he is one of the best 18 year old's around, or why have the bigger clubs not moved in, especially considering the low price? Perhaps you are Scottish or have seen him regularly, but that's one hell of a jump.
Not Scottish but was fortunate to catch a few of his performances last season. He's incredible. Would have loved him here and was hoping for Moyes to sign him in January.
Dundee are a pretty small club, which might explain why bigger clubs weren't sniffing around.

There was quotes in December last year from Moyes saying he wanted to have a look at him personally, so he is known to big clubs as you said, which makes your second point a bit strange as we've just seen that United may have been interested. Again, I'm not trying to necessarily change your view, but you aren't someone to make silly predictions from what I've seen so I'll keep an eye on him more in future, as currently, I'll admit I've sen nothing other than my good friend Youtube, what sort of attacking mid is he out of interest, I see he's been tagged as poor Hallalovic was with the "new messi" tag...

Don't think he was ever very good. Physically he was impressive at 18 but he was always a liability defensively.

I have seen him a few times in the flesh and several times on the box, he is very promising, although some Dundee United fans think there are better players than him currently at United, such as Stuart Armstrong and
Andrew Robertson who has already been called up for the Scotland first team. However Gauld is younger and probably has a higher ceiling.
We're preparing when football turns into a 12 player team where there are two goalkeepers.
