Plus the danger of appealing is that it'll just delay the start of his ban - meaning he could miss much more of the domestic season...

Appeal will make no difference to the ban. Only the money. That was my understanding anyway.

FIFA woman not confirming whether 'administrative activities' include transfers or not.

So it's pretty fair to say he won't be leaving Liverpool this summer, as any club buying him would have to pay the guts of £2m in wages while he was suspended, even if they only bought him Aug 31st.

Luis Suarez has now been banned for 34 games since 2010 without receiving a single red card. What a joker! #URU

Bear in mind the effect he had on Liverpool after being banned for 10 games. This is going to be less games.

Nice holiday for him again.

edit: actually some of those 10 games might have been in previous season

Fifa making up rules as they go along, but to judge by what they've just told me, only #URU (not #LFC) would be allowed to appeal Suarez ban

At first I thought this was a good ban but on reflection it's not enough IMO as he would be available by the end of October. If it didn't kick in until August then it'd be a lot fairer

Spanish fixtures not announced, but judging from last year Suarez would miss 11 Barcelona league games.

Won't be available till much later in November. I assume all football related activity means he can't even train with the Liverpool squad. So will be quite short of match fitness when he's back.

I really don't think you could expect anything stronger. I certainly didn't. Even if the season doesn't start in two months, it's still four months where he (probably) can't even train and perhaps can't transfer either, plus around 15-20 competitive games (club + country) that he'll miss. It's a very strong statement.

Very controversial that Liverpool can't appeal but I guess that will probably happen anyway.

By the end of today the players out of world cup in group stage:

Ronaldo
rooney
suarez
aguero
Balotelli
Costa

It's the third time he's done this. It's basically the same punishment as last year (around 10 Liverpool matches). The Uruguayan matches he misses are in the World Cup, so he'll miss one this year, then the next would be in 2018...

A bit lenient, but still enough to just pacify most. What about mandatory therapeutic treatment. That little interview with Oliver Kahn was quite to the point: Suarez can't handle pressure. He explodes. And the likelihood of re-offending in the same manner is quite high. He seriously needs help.

I hope Uruguay appeal, thus the ban starts much later and fecks Liverpool over some more.

Qualifying matches as well.
