Anyways, Liverpool are linked with Rangers hotshot Nikica Jelavic. He is a decent enough player, scores goals, has decent technique. Don't think he'll ever be a top striker though, but this seems more realistic than the Bent rumours considering he will cost less than half and wont be on very high wages. Rangers also need the money badly.

Ha, how on earth is Darren Bent OVER rated? He's one of the top goal scorers of the Premiership, scored bags at Charlton, Spurs, Sunderland and Villa whenever he's had the chance too. If anything he gets slated more often than not, remember when he went for like £16m at 25 and everyone mocked him saying you could have got a 29 year old henry for that, so held it against him. He's a goal scorer, nothing more and he's good at that.
Don't think I've EVER seen him get over rated though.
Prices these days are mad, we paid £7m for Bebe and on the better scale of player Chelsea paid £50m of Torres so obviously Bent has to be someone in between that, price wise and for the goals he gets you, £16m is about right.As a goal-scorer, he isnt over-hyped. But yes, at big clubs, being just a good goal-scorer isnt enough. You are expected to be able to hold the ball and create as well. In that sense, Bent isnt good enough. Chicharito suffers from this issue sometimes, but he didnt cost us that too much money and didnt arrive with high expectations. And he is happy to bide his time learning and be squad-rotated.
He's a good goal scorer but he isn't a good enough player to make a big team better. His many shortcomings are overshadowed by his goal poaching ability.
