This seems totally & utterly bizarre, I just don't get it at all.
Zenit have gone for other seemingly ridiculous targets as well. Think they are just flexing to show they have some money

Sky Sources: Manchester City & Swansea unable to reach agreement for transfer of Scott Sinclair
Di maria went for close to 30m to madrid, and he wasnt any better than what nani is now.
30m is the minimum we should expect for a player of his calibre.
I will be massively angry if this happens such a pisstake.
United fans undervaluing our own players again?
Nani is worth a lot more than 30 million. Hazard was £32m, Lucas Moura was €40m. Nani is more experienced in a tougher league than both, and equally as talented. Anything less than £30 million is undervaluing him.

Lille and Sao Paulo were in a position of strength.
They weren't actively looking to get rid of a player.
The only way Nani is leaving is if Fergie thinks we don't need him. Which gives another club a bit more bargaining power.
It's not about under rating. It's about another club chancing their arm if he doesn't fit into our plans knowing he's contracted till 2014.
If he is in Fergie's plans then I doubt we'll be selling.
Of course, twenty-year old Moura for 40 million euros is a no brainer, but Nani, having actually done something and being widely recognized as one of the best wingers in the world, should naturally be around half of that.
Are we actively looking to get rid of Nani?
Who else would he go to if not for 'those sorts of sides', which also generally tend to be the best teams.
Can you see us doing business with City? Because I can't.
PSG maybe...but do they need him?
Real Madrid? I can't see it. Look at what they already have.
Chelsea...meh possibly...but again do you see us selling to them?
I might be wrong...but I can't see a fee in the region of 40 million. Just because Lucas and Hazard went for what they did.
Downing went for 20 million and Caroll for 35. So?
See, there's been nothing to suggest we are selling him because Ferguson doesn't think he's good enough either. I mean that scenario there doesn't really make sense. Isn't it just as likely that if he were to go, it would be because he wants to play elsewhere, or he's not happy with how he's being played?
I get the impression he wants to be here, but for me that scenario would make more sense then United, having seen what he's contributed in the last two seasons, deciding to now get rid at this point in time.
I don't think we'll sell either way, for a whole host of reasons, but that there is one of them. We'd want to realize his worth, but where can he go to make that happen? Practically nowhere.
I get that idea too. He seems to want to be here...He can't be unhappy with the competition for places surely?
I was just playing out scenarios...he's never expressed a want to leave has he? but he's not automatic first choice either.
Yeah that's why this is so confusing for me, because nothing really sounds like the little we actually know of. Of course things could be totally different behind the scenes, he might have a terrible attitude and be a right cnut, but I don't get that impression and I can't see the argument over quality - otherwise surely Anderson would have been sold a while back. We've actually seen Nani come good, so it would be weird for our patience to suddenly run out. Surely not for competition sakes, as a winger his only threats are Young and Valencia, he must believe he can displace either one.
I think this talk of selling Rooney or Nani is papertalk.
If either goes we'd need to use that wedge to replace them with quality. Unless either wants out...I can't see how they don't fit in.
That being said I'm not Fergie. He may well think very different. He's the one who knows the whole situation.

Me too, it seems too perfect, and surely it can't be co-incidence that both players have been talked about being sold, straight after their benching/dropping from the Everton match. It seems very reactionary, but then with Nani's saga it adds a bit of weight, I reckon they are fishing though because it sounds good. We'd sell him, not for the price he's worth given the timing and his contract and we wouldn't get a replacement in leaving us very thin on the wings. At the start of the season as well, with just a few games in? Seems like bad business for a bunch of reasons.
So what you are saying is we should sell him to Liverpool for one billion!
Perhaps the annual 'Panic, United are fecked' headlines. Not the first time we've seen them.
Why the feck would Nani would want to leave United and go to Zenit fecking Petersburg in Russia?
