Yeah Nanis price is definitely between 30-40m, anything less would be a great deal for the other team.

Di maria went for close to 30m to madrid, and he wasnt any better than what nani is now.

30m is the minimum we should expect for a player of his calibre.

I will be massively angry if this happens such a pisstake.

If it was us wanting to keep hold and someone coming in with an offer to rip them away I'd sort of agree...Though unless Madrid/City etc came in you wouldn't be looking at 40.

If he goes it looks like it'll be because Fergie doesn't want him. Which, as folk have said gives it a different slant I suppose.

If Nani leaves it will be down to him not being wanted, you'd think, in which case the fee will be lower. Also when you sell down you'll always get less than if you sold to the likes of Barca or Real.

United fans undervaluing our own players again?

Nani is worth a lot more than 30 million. Hazard was £32m, Lucas Moura was €40m. Nani is more experienced in a tougher league than both, and equally as talented. Anything less than £30 million is undervaluing him.

Typical of United fans.

And in this case its Nani, so you can understand.

Of course, twenty-year old Moura for 40 million euros is a no brainer, but Nani, having actually done something and being widely recognized as one of the best wingers in the world, should naturally be around half of that.

Lille and Sao Paulo were in a position of strength.

They weren't actively looking to get rid of a player.

The only way Nani is leaving is if Fergie thinks we don't need him. Which gives another club a bit more bargaining power.

It's not about under rating. It's about another club chancing their arm if he doesn't fit into our plans knowing he's contracted till 2014.

If he is in Fergie's plans then I doubt we'll be selling.

Depends how many clubs are sniffing around I suppose. Everyone bounces around about what they think players are worth...but what is that exactly? It's how much clubs are willing to pay.

Unless PSG, The Russians, Real madrid, City or Chelsea came in do you think Hazard or Moura would have gone for that?

Unless one of those sorts of sides comes in...you wont see 40 odd million quid being spent on Nani.

Who else would he go to if not for 'those sorts of sides', which also generally tend to be the best teams.

Are we actively looking to get rid of Nani?

sigh. I'm not saying we are.

I'm saying if we were to sell, and it's a big IF it would point to us not fancying him anymore.

I mean has Nani said he wants to leave? No. So the only way he's going is if we want him out. It has sounded to me like he wants to stay.

See, there's been nothing to suggest we are selling him because Ferguson doesn't think he's good enough either. I mean that scenario there doesn't really make sense. Isn't it just as likely that if he were to go, it would be because he wants to play elsewhere, or he's not happy with how he's being played?

I get the impression he wants to be here too, but for me that scenario would make more sense then United, having seen what he's contributed in the last two seasons, deciding to now get rid at this point in time.

Can you see us doing business with City? Because I can't.

PSG maybe...but do they need him?

Real Madrid? I can't see it. Look at what they already have.

Chelsea...meh possibly...but again do you see us selling to them?

I might be wrong...but I can't see a fee in the region of 40 million. Just because Lucas and Hazard went for what they did.

Downing went for 20 million and Caroll for 35. So?

I don't think we'll sell either way, for a whole host of reasons, but that there is one of them. We'd want to realize his worth, but where can he go to make that happen? Practically nowhere.

I get that idea too. He seems to want to be here...He can't be unhappy with the competition for places surely?

I was just playing out scenarios...he's never expressed a want to leave has he? but he's not automatic first choice either.

I think this talk of selling Rooney or Nani is papertalk.

If either goes we'd need to use that wedge to replace them with quality. Unless either wants out...I can't see how they don't fit in.

That being said I'm not Fergie. He may well think very different. He's the one who knows the whole situation.

Yeah that's why this is so confusing for me, because nothing really sounds like the little we actually know of. Of course things could be totally different behind the scenes, he might have a terrible attitude and be a right cnut, but I don't get that impression and I can't see the argument over quality - otherwise surely Anderson would have been sold a while back. We've actually seen Nani come good, so it would be weird for our patience to suddenly run out. Surely not for competition sakes, as a winger his only threats are Young and Valencia, he must believe he can displace either one.

Interesting point...and one that I can see alot of sense in.

Me too, it seems too perfect. It can't be co-incidence that both players have been talked about being sold, straight after their benching/dropping from the Everton match. It seems very reactionary, but then with Nani's contract saga it adds a bit of extra weight, although I reckon they are fishing because it sounds good. We'd sell him, not for the price he's worth given the timing and his contract and we wouldn't get a replacement in leaving us very thin on the wings. At the start of the season as well, with just a few games in? Seems like bad business for a bunch of reasons.

So what you are saying is we should sell him to Liverpool for one billion!

Perhaps the annual 'Panic, United are fecked' headlines. Not the first time we've seen them.

Hearing #MUFC Nani could be off to Russia. Talks on-going. Not totally sure which club - possibly Zenit

From here we don t know what's going on behind the scenes. Imo i m seeing two different scenarios:
Either the club and agent are playing hard ball over a new contract
Or
Else, for some reason fergie has decided to offload nani.
My impression is that it s probably the latter.

If he does end up at Zenit, I'll have to laugh. I'm not sure when that laugh would stop, and turn into an irrepressible rage, but it would all start with a laugh.

Why the feck would Nani would want to leave United and go to Zenit fecking Petersburg in Russia?

I think it is becoming clearer that Fergie wants rid. Not necessarily Nani wanting to go.

Becoming clearer how? Because you keep hearing more reports of the same report?

Nothing has become any clearer since the thing fecking started.

Leaving him out of the squad. The transfer rumours. No new contract.

Perhaps "clearer" isn't the word, but there is something going on, and I think he'll be off unfortunately. It would be a massive mistake.

The poor performance at Everton might just have made up his mind.

Maybe Fergie played the bluff. He knew that Nani's exit wouldn't be well received, but he also knew he'd be shit at Everton. He started him so that Nani would be so poor, the effect of his departure wouldn't be felt as much. That's also why he brought on Wayne to get injured in those last 10 minutes, he saw a lot of the comments about his poor start to the season, and decided rather than dropping him for a month straight and facing a backlash, he'd slide a bung to.....Hugo Rodallega to do the deed for him. Mastermind.

That's why i think it's more of us trying to sell the player.(assuming the zenit story is true)

I could maybe understand selling him if we had some super star in the making in the youth ranks that was going to burst onto the scene this season and make the wide area his own, but we don't!

Selling Nani leaves us with just Valencia and Young as genuine out and out wingers. That I'm afraid Mr Ferguson is just fecking retarded.

If Nani is leaving it MUST mean we have someone else lined. I just don't believe SAF would be stupid enough to not replace him with another top class winger.

Hopefully this is all just media bollocks. But regardless of how it eventually pans out, in the mean time its going to be squeeky bum time for us fans until the transfer window closes.
