Turning on Rangnick

I mean I wasn't expecting much but I thought we'd at least look stable...
Not turning per say but very underwhelming so far despite my low expectations.

I doubt Ten Haag could anything with this lot. We need 6-7 new good players. Our squad is shit despite the cost in transfers+wages.
The future is very very bleak.

Nonsense, a good manager can absolutely get a tune out of this squad. A few areas to improve but this team has shown more and can do much better. The talent is there, now it is upto him to get it going.

Better think of our next manager and a couple of signings, basically at midfield and RB.

Football from the dark ages. We need to sort a proper manager sooner rather than later and we can't afford to get it wrong. That said the midfield Ole has left him is a disgrace

Plenty of people were saying this guy was some kind of football genius. Before he signed. I didn't expect miracles, but I wanted to see something. We've seen nothing. It's no different to how it was under Ole. You usually get a new manager bounce. We haven't even had that.

Unless these players are all shit, this guy is nowhere near as good as many people made him out to be.

He is a second rate coach. Look at his CV.
Honestly, this! We’ve poached our last two managers from Molde and Spartak Moscow ffs! The squad has problems (many are self inflicted by the system and XI choices, though), but the bottom line is the manager is no more proven than the actual players on the field.

But that’s fine, he’s literally only here to steady the ship until the summer. That’s when we absolutely have to get the right manager.

Not sure what you want him to do the players are who we thought they were, we have no control of games because we have no one who can control games no amount of coaching can teach that.

We need a midfielder or 2 ASAP
He can put 3 in the midfield for a start, that would help with the control, then 3 up top. Why just have McT and Matic in there, zero creativity.

Nonsense, a good manager can absolutely get a tune out of this squad. A few areas to improve but this team has shown more and can do much better. The talent is there, now it is upto him to get it going.

A few areas is euphemism. This squad is terrible, open your eyes up. We get outplayed by most teams we face.

Before we get started, it’s certainly not Rangnicks fault. He didn’t buy any of those players, he’s simply learning about the hand he’s been dealt.

It certainly is

If he didn't know before he arrived that 4222 wouldn't work with this players then he has no place being in the role

Not turning on the manager but recognising that our playing squad left by Ole is shit and not fit for purpose.

The only criticism of Rangnick so far is 4-2-2-2 is a horrible formation when you have talentless full backs like AWB and it's a total waste of time using it.
He's a Lokomotiv Moscow standard manager

Think we need to look at the players first before pointing the finger directly at Rangnick. This lot just don’t seen to give a damn. Their attitude and body language is just stinking.

Forum was wanking over this guy when he came in and the difference he would make compared to Ole. Now it’s already at the point of blaming the players

I do think we'd have been better getting Conte, but if there was no chance of that, then he really is just here for 6 months and going upstairs in the summer which is what we really wanted him for, and if there wasn't a better alternative willing to see us through to the summer until our first chocies became available, then I'd still much rather rangnick than Ole

I wouldn't say I'm turning on him, but I am concerned. For a manager who is meant to be all about high press high energy high intensity, the last couple of games have been about as unenergetic, unintense with no sign of a press as you can imagine.

The players have been sloppy sure, but there seems to be a lack of intent and a willingness to let games drift we have been very much reactive rather than proactive and that comes from the manager and coaches.

My 2 biggest concerns about RR's appointment were that he had never managed giant club before and had no experience of the PL. Feels like those concerns are ringing true at the moment.

He has more time to proove me wrong but I'm not convinced at the moment.

This you cannot polish a turd.
No matter who's in charge, these players arnt hungry enough.
Overpaid massively with relation to ability.

Yeah but you can make a turd stink worse which he seems to be doing. Pick something for your team and make lineup choices that are consistent with what you’re going for.

I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and thought it would take time for the players to adjust to his system. But at first he was starting the same 11 as Ole and now he's taking out the wrong players. And still VdB doesn't get a chance. I would really love to see us play a 4-3-3. Not a 4-2-3-1. Not a 4-2-2-2 and not a 4-4-2. A 4-3-3. This is the formation that the best teams in the world play. Why are we trying to reinvent the wheel?

I'm not completely giving up on him but you say blame the players, but he has 2 midfielders that rarely play well together and 4 attackers, yet wants control of games. How does he expect that to happen with Matic and McT? They're set up for failure against any team with a half ass midfield or more numbers there
I don’t understand why he doesn’t try VDB or anything different in that midfield either.

But he’s not been blessed with any real midfield that can give him that control he wants - well we’ve not seen any from our current crop- so he probably sees those two as our best options :(

We’ll need to bring players in but they’ll all be panic buys now anyways cause we couldn’t plan a piss up in a brewery.

I can see this being a big possibility. They know he's here temporarily, if he does well, even longer to see through a rebuild. This means many of their futures will be at stake. You can either up your game and adapt to the new coach's style or down the tools and know that if they do so, the results will reflect on the interim coach. These players are just not strong enough mentally. My fear is that if Rangnick doesn't work out, many other managers will be put off from working these prima donnas.

The only solution for the club is to take a deep blow to the finances to off some of these players and get the right players that will fight for Rangnick.

The only thing that's making me not so harsh on him is that he's only here for 6 months and that's it. If he was a permanent manager I would have slaughtered him off ten times more, but since he's just an interim and not our future, I can force myself to write this entire season off.

I remember the start of the season and the thread "Top 10 squads in Europe" where 80 % of the people were putting us AT LEAST 3rd. Now more and more are starting to see the true reality where we are not even in the Top 10.
Yea I agree, had the same thoughts.

These players have thrown every manager under the bus for years so not surprised by any anything.

I thought 5 games in we would at least see some influence into a pressing game, these performances could have been under Ole if you didn't know otherwise.

Nonsense, a good manager can absolutely get a tune out of this squad. A few areas to improve but this team has shown more and can do much better. The talent is there, now it is upto him to get it going.
There are very few players that would get into the city Liverpool Chelsea teams. Varane ? De gea ?Anyone else? Maybe Bruno, maybe.

We have 1 winger who is in his first season.
1 decent full back, maybe 2 in Dalot
1 good midfielder in Pogba but he has his own issues.
2 strikers who are past their best and 36/37 years old

That’s it, everyone else is either average or playing in a position that they don’t know how (rashford)

Wondered why he was at locomotiv Moscow….got my answer

For anyone with the attention span and IQ of a toddler, sure.
I probably know more about football and am older than you. But sure.

It was certainly tongue-in-cheek, but based on performances so far it’s hard to argue against it. Right now he’s more Bielsa than Pep/Klopp. He certainly has the managerial track record.

Who cares, he will be gone in 5 months. Seems the players are thinking like this as well

So Carrick has been the best manager we had since Fergie! Let's get Carrick back if possible!

A few areas is euphemism. This squad is terrible, open your eyes up. We get outplayed by most teams we face.

No, the squad is not terrible, that is stupid hyperbole. Get a clue yourself, when the team is playing badly no matter who plays, that is down to the manager.

His system and selections are certainly not helping.

Haha! This thread, some supporters, social media and standard rubbish media! :D :D :D
How can any of you actually think that there is a manager in the world who could come and turn united around in a few weeks! HE DOESNT EXIST.

Its going to take months, possibly years to turn this ship. Surely everyone has noticed that quite a few managers have failed at united. Good managers.

What its going to take is someone who over time can change attitude and culture of the club. The managers arent bad. The players arent bad. There is a bigger underlying issue and its going to need time, intelligence and experience to work out what that is. It can be one of a hundred different things. Right now and for the past 5-7 years United is the club where promising, and sometimes even successfull players, come to die. BUT since managers get thrown under the bus by supporters and media before anyone can fix it, the problem remains.
There is a lot of truth behind the saying
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Its laughable.

It’s not the manager imo, and by that I mean - I don’t know if he’s a good manager or not but I suspect no manager out there could get that group of players to do what is required to turn Man Utd into an effective pressing football team.

Better think of our next manager and a couple of signings, basically at midfield and RB.
We're going to need more than that because next season Ronaldo (if we don't make top 4), Cavani, Pogba, Lingard, VDB, Matic and Mata won't be here.

Questions need to be asked about Rangnick he picks the team. Our midfield is a shambles and we play two ageing strikers. Is Rangnick running the team or Fletcher?

He talks the best game you’ve ever heard and nothing remotely like it have we seen on the pitch.

Early days but he’s had ZERO impact if we’re honest. The players don’t want to play for him.
