Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Oh yeah don't get wrong, any charge from the DOJ is serious! I was simply hoping we'd learn something new in this indictment and that it'd finally begin to establish the core conspiracy as opposed to reinforcing the quite blatant cover-up.

I (think I?) recall there was a reference to his comms with Wikileaks and senior Trump campaign members in another indictment. There's certainly been reporting around it.

Regardless it's an interesting start to a Friday.

Well we did learn something new. If consider reports from news media as things we know for sure then I would say very few things will be new. As the reports basically say trump is a Russian agent. But Interms of public knowledge there's a lot of new stuff

Is anyone still in doubt the Trump campaign colluded with WikiLeaks and in turn Russia?

Having read the indictment now I'd like to rescind my earlier disappointment. This is big news alone for this: "senior Trump campaign official was directed to contact Stone about future releases from Org 1".

To clarify my earlier post I was hoping for charges specifically related to conspiracy so we can finally begin to see the missing pieces of this puzzle. Thankfully the text in this indictment makes clear more is coming and Stone is on the hook for a lot more than what he's been charged. Additional charges in a superseding doc seem certain in the future.

Side note - I don't take everything in the media as gospel however we saw the actual e-mails between Bannon and Stone related to Wikileaks dumps last year in a NYT article.

Bannon has been assisting with the investigation for over a year.

Sure, will be interesting to see if he’s actually been working with them or whether he has been trying to deceive them.

Hopefully this comes as a shock to the scabby bastard.

Remember when we all thought Bannon was a genius mastermind and Trump his puppet? Feels like 10 years ago.

Happy days.

So what can we realistically hope for in terms of the potential fallout from this?

'CNN said it was not alerted by officials, but had sent a reporter to Stone’s house after noticing “unusual grand jury activity”, Talking Points Memo reported.

“The grand jury empaneled for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe usually meets on Fridays. This week, they met on Thursday.”'

Entirely plausible, seen a tweet from the Mueller She Wrote podcast speculating exactly that about the grand dury yesterday too.

'Roger Stone has apparently called into InfoWars, the website-cum-radio show of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

The InfoWars website seems to be having some problems, so I couldn’t listen in. But Paul Watson, InfoWars editor-at-large and noted crank, says Stone told the website:

“This country is literally run by a rogue prosecutor who has more power than the president.” Watson said Stone also expressed fears that the US is turning into the “new Soviet Union”'.
