Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

He's not actually.

He is. He was part of the "Dream Team", but yeah, he wasn't one of the leading lawyers. Johnny Cochran was the lead lawyer, with F. Lee Bailly and Robert Shapiro being the other key players (although Shapiro was marginalized by Bailly and Cochran IIRC).

He obviously disagrees with the direction Trump is taking the legal strategy in, with the hiring of Di Geonova and his recent unhinged tweeting about Mueller.
Was it Not Dowd that literally said that the Mueller investigation should end. Did he say that under duress

It shows that Dowd thinks it's a bad idea to take on Mueller. With a bit of inductive reasoning, you could be forgiven for thinking that the only reason we're at this point is desperation on Trump's part.

If Dowd thought getting rid of Mueller was in any way a viable play, he'd still be on board. I don't believe for a second that he didn't reach out to Trump allies to gauge the mood in the House and Senate over pushing Mueller out and judging by the reaction it didn't go well.

With the investigation reaching the areas it has and results it has already had, I think Trump's options are very very limited now and going down swinging, with the hope of dirtying the reputation of Mueller and his investigation's is the only play left.

I still think Mueller has some cards up his sleeve. If his investigation is canned, I expect some serious indictments to be unsealed by Schneiderman and co that take down either Trump or family members and force the investigation to be reopened.

I presumed it was under durress after Trump finally figured out that all the comments from Dowd and Cobb in recent months that the Mueller probe would end very soon, were just BS designed to placate him from melting down on Twitter.

Ahh. I think you are spot on here. With Marc "watch your back bitch " Kasowitz coming back into the fray this can only get more crazy

What‘s the matter are top quality lawyers with loose morals in short supply in America? Can‘t make sense of Trump getting Kasovich back on board.

He wasn't there sitting next to OJ to talk about baseball cards.
I meant he's not looking to join Trump's team.

As above, it was re: him joining Trump's legal team. Was in a rush so abbreviated my thoughts.

Load of bullshit from him.

There's a BBC video of an interview with the lady who ran the PR side of the Trump Campaign who explained that Facebook sent their own guys down to the offices to work with Cambridge Analytica and Trump Campaign analysts to extract everything they could from the datasets they had harvested from Facebook.

When asked why Facebook would do that she said "we were ploughing 10's of millions there way making 10's of thousands of adverts every day so they were doing everything they could to help us, that included sending their own guys in to help us"

The idea that Facebook is somehow a victim in this is farcical.

I said that yesterday. "We made mistakes"...bullshit!

It's more like..."We knew what we did but didn't expect to get caught"

Sounds like more of the same from Trump apologists/fans who seem to think that if Mueller doesn't brief them at every step of the way, they're justified in baselessly claiming that there's been no wrong-doing. I don't disagree that the media can overplay some aspects of it and maybe a lot of people don't care, but that doesn't make it any less important given what's at stake.

The WSJ is very happy with their champion cause, tax breaks for the rich, being put on a pedestal by this administration so why would they argue in favor of anything that threatens Trump?

Its behind a pay wall.

It is? I was able to read it, and I'm not registered at WSJ.

Yes, good points.

WSJ are very pro Trump. They set the tone in their articles of balance and reason but they’re quite the opposite.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/exclu...evealed-he-was-a-russian-intelligence-officer

Guccifer 2.0, the “lone hacker” who took credit for providing WikiLeaks with stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee, was in fact an officer of Russia’s military intelligence directorate (GRU), The Daily Beast has learned. It’s an attribution that resulted from a fleeting but critical slip-up in GRU tradecraft.

That forensic determination has substantial implications for the criminal probe into potential collusion between President Donald Trump and Russia. The Daily Beast has learned that the special counsel in that investigation, Robert Mueller, has taken over the probe into Guccifer and brought the FBI agents who worked to track the persona onto his team.

Sleep tight, Roger

I'm reading Mueller's bio. He was captain of his school's soccer team. I like him even more. He's an exceptional person with an incredible background. How the feck does scum like Trump have the balls to attack his integrity?

He learnt his life lessons from Roy Cohn, another cnut:

"My scare value is high. My arena is controversy. My tough front is my biggest asset." ~ Roy Cohn

"I don't want to know what the law is, I want to know who the judge is." ~ Roy Cohn

"I bring out the worst in my enemies and that's how I get them to defeat themselves." ~ Roy Cohn

Yeah, sure. I bet he brings his taxes along with him.

Apologies for the cynicism but I'm sure Trump will simply continue doing what he's doing now - attack Mueller on Twitter to get his base riled up while promising everything's all good in public. Then they'll launch whatever stupid idea they have to be able to fire Mueller, thinking they've outsmarted everyone. Ultimately whatever the special counsel's team has uncovered will still come to light and then the onus will fall on the GOP Congress to take a stand. They'll almost certainly attack the fact that the contents of the investigation leaked as the real issue and claim their hands are tied. The only question on all this, in my mind, is timing.

The upside to all this is that it's so over-the-top corrupt that it hopefully inspires a huge turnout for the midterm elections.

I honestly don't believe they have anything on Trump anymore. Everyone around him, yup, but not Trump himself. He's too protected and tbh I have lost any faith anything will happen now.

I think stress and a heart attack are more likely than him being impeached or removed from office by the Republicans.

It's seriously depressing the level of corruption and self interest and hatred in this administration and throughout their supporters too.

Not a chance he'll testify, he's just fecking around with everyone.

Yeah. His whole shtick is projecting an image of extreme self-confidence with absolutely no intention of following through on things he says.

Changing legal counsel so late into an investigation puts Trump at tremendous disadvantage and it's something you wouldn't do unless you were absolutely desperate. Obviously he wasn't happy with what he was being told by his lawyers. Imagine trying to pick up this mess though. Then again Trump in some ways must be the easiest guy in the world to represent; just tell him what he wants to hear even if it's bullshit. Whoever comes in now is going to be under an unambiguous dictate of simply: tell Trump what he wants to hear, even if it's bullshit. The guy uses his wealth to shield himself from reality.

The best bit is he only has complete morons left - Sekulow and Cobb.

Even the most brilliant lawyers in the world - how do you come late into an investigation this complex and in-depth and get up to speed? It's absolute madness, as expected.
