Television True Detective | Season 2 Spoilers

9.4/10 rating in imbd.com even though less than 13 thousand people have voted. Still, it's fully deserved.

I guess it's pretty much inevitable but if the show has a weakness it's that Rust is an infinitely more compelling character than Marty.

It's interesting that they're pushing Marty more as the dick the further we go into the show.
I think they complement each other well, don't think it would have worked with just Rust.

Agreed. Marty is an interesting character on his own anyway, he likes to think he's a 'normal guy' but he's arguably more fecked up that Rust.

Well no, all I'm really saying is that I bet when they got the scripts Harrelson was like "can we swap?"

Although on the other hand, boobs and handcuffs....

there was a gap in episodes this week so the 4th episode hasn't aired yet, Scrumpet probably got some poor sods hopes up.

Excellent interview with the shows creator here...

Talks about the creative process and what we can expect from the show in the last 5 episodes (spoiler free). Sounds like it really kicks on from the next episode...

Episode four is the beginning of Act Two. Suddenly, the rhythm of the entire show changes. The slow part is over now. The first three episodes move at a very deliberate, almost funereal cadence, like you’re marching toward something. And what you’re marching toward is that final image in episode three.

After rewatching the 1st episode again there's definitely some sick paedo wicker man style cult cover up shih going down.

My guess is that
Ledouex is nothing more than a pawn in a wider cover up that involves drugs and religion to indoctrinate young girls. There's the missing girl who drew the spaghetti monster before disappearing (casually brushed off by the Sheriff), the weird drawings from Woodys kids (who I haven't ruled out being involved himself) and the visit from Rev Tuttle who is taking far too much of an interest in the case than is normal. Maybe he's the ring leader and the cover up comes from his brother who is apparently the governor of Texas.

Episode four streams live in an hours time. Anyone staying up to watch it? Does anyone else get a bit of a Franklin case allegory about the whole series so far?
Wait, are you sure? I thought it aired on Sunday??

That ending was fecking amazing

Edit: I'm underselling it. It was the Michael Jordan of episodes.

Holy feck, that was good.

Loved the episode.

oh and "you fecking wet-noodle, whiskey-dick faggot feck"

"You are like the Michael Jordan of being a son of a bitch.":lol:
That was very different from previous episodes but still fecking intense in its own way, this show is amazing. The last 10-15 min were unreal in terms of tension. Kohle is a legend.

What an episode that was, this is the best new show iv seen in years.

Those last few minutes, amazing television. Beautifully directed and managed to be tense even though you know McConaughey is around years later.

That last 10 mins or so was excellent. Very well done and really gripping, its a shame there aren't too many TV shows that can keep me as entertained/immersed in a story like this can.

Theory: The kid in the bathtub was one of the dectectives from 2012.
