Happy with the window, not happy with the squad.
Started well. Disappointingly slow at present.

It really is absurd. Desperately need some continuity now. I've never seen an almost entire squad of players fall to pieces or go obsolete the way ours has. Hopefully lvg's tenure most likely being 3-4 years doesn't lead to another poor phase of transition with as many changes. Player management within the club is just as important as transfers. If a player isn't getting better you have to get rid of course. What happened with us is that too many were in the downturn and too many were allowed to get into that downward spiral without any changes. And at the same time, lvg has to try and maintain the form of a vast majority of his squad now through working with them and ensuring standards don't slip. The squad is definitely better than it was two season ago, but the rate of turnover is just ridiculous. It's actually a miracle that we have been as competitive as we are. Just look at the names that have left in the last two years:
1 Evra
2 Ferdinand
3 Anderson
4 Giggs
5 Vidic
6 Hernandez (back but going again I guess)
7 Nani
8 Welbeck
9 Van Persie
10 Henriquez
11 Fabio
12 Cleverley
13 Fletcher
14 Kagawa
15 Macheda
16 Buttner
17 Varela
19 Zaha
20 Bebe
21 Falcao
Presumably Evans, Rafael, Lindegaard, De Gea, and Valdes are also to follow shortly.
That's ridiculous.
In general the quality that has replaced has been very good. But we need to get some long term stability into the club by this time next year, and put ourselves in a position where we are just doing minor tweaks.
Very happy. We have brought in very solid additions to the squad. I consider us at the level now where we have an outside chance of challenging for the league. Compared to this time last season where we didn't really look anything more than a challenger for the 4th spot, I think we have made significant improvement.
Varela is still here. I saw him playing for the U21s last week (unless he's left since then and I've missed it?)The squad is definitely better than it was two season ago, but the rate of turnover is just ridiculous. IF Di Maria stays and, IF he gets back to form, then there's no question for me he would make the 3 instead of Mata. The positive for Mata is that he links very well with Herrera. Herrera's energy and quick passing seem to spur him on. But yeah, otherwise he tends to start dwelling, especially when he's carrying the ball from a deeper position.Yep I'd agree with you Natener, I still think we are missing a little bit star quality up top to unlock teams. I think Mata is to predictable and slows play in the right of a 3. So I hope he's either moved position or dropped.
?
I would just rather us get players in during pre season rather than the end of August.
That little face has got to be the worst thing about red cafe. Makes me think i'm talking to a bunch of 14 year olds...
People were whinging about only signing Depay when it was still more movement than any other club made. Then we get three more great signings in before preseason... And because we haven't signed anyone for over a fortnight it's not enough.
We've done the best business in Europe so far. To expect more so soon is daft.

A Liverpool supporting colleague of mine claimed that Milner is better than either Schweinsteiger or Schneiderlin - he kept a straight face and everything.Your window has been exciting but I don't think the net result looks too good just yet.
You're now well stocked in midfield but have shipped out two strikers and replaced them with one who couldn't cut it when out on loan. Still need a cwntreback and still have a keeper who sends xoxo smses to Florentino Perez at night.
I think Woody was so pleased with the response to the dual announcement of Schweiny and Schneidy that he is planning to go one better with a triple whammy - Ramos, Ronaldo and De Gea new contract. We should get a new signing every week just to calm some here.
DDG stays for one more year, we get Ramos or Otamendi and Pedro and we're good to go.Your window has been exciting but I don't think the net result looks too good just yet.

And many were hugely important. That's usually the composition of a squad.Whilst we have had a big turnover no doubt, I don't think it is as dramatic as it looks on the face of it.
Many of those players were fringe, many were definitely past their best, many were never anything of note for us.

I would say the other way round - I think that Schneiderlin is a better player (different though so hard to compare). I think the jury is out whether Schweiny can do it in the PL at his age. I think Milner is a great signing though either way and a big upgrade in energy from Gerrard last season.I think it's a hard call on Schneiderlin.
Schweinsteiger, if he delivers, is obviously better.
