Transfer window - happy so far?

Over the moon so far. I would never have expected us to sign both Scweinsteiger AND Schneiderlin, and Darmian will prove to be a fantastic piece of business I feel. A striker/CB is still needed however - get them in and keep DDG and it will have been a perfect summer.

Very pleased, obviously. I wasn't initially happy with pursuing Schweinsteiger given his age, but as one part of the four (so far) I can take it as a positive. Priority now is a number 9 before a centre-half. I think our centre-backs need a good injury-free run, and now with better full-backs and more protection in front I think they've a good chance to show consistency. Up front we need more than Rooney though.

Anyone that isn't happy at this point should just give up on watching football. To think we're not finished is crazy. Strikers are among the most exciting of signings too.

Delighted with signings so far, cant help think that if we can land a 25+ goal striker then we are really in business.

If Jones & Smalling can stay injury free and play like they did towards end of last season then I may be tempted to keep Evans as a back up, but if you are offering Hummels / Otamendi then that is final piece in jigsaw after a striker for me.

Schneidelin & Schweinsteiger will give our defence so much protection compared to last season, we are starting to look solid :)

BTW we must keep Di Maria!!!!

Of course. We just need a CB and a striker. Don't see the need for a new GK. A backup at most.

Wouldn't mind us selling ADM and buying a new winger who isn't Gaitan.

Or just keep Di Maria. Who isn't Gaitan.

Can't get my head round anyone wanting rid of Di Maria. He's clearly one of the most talented players in our squad. It was a far from perfect first season, but hardly so bad that he doesn't deserve another season to prove what he can do. Do people forget just how good this guy was with Madrid?

We've had great signings, but wasn't counting on losing RvP. With him gone, definitely don't want to lose Di Maria either. We've already need to find a new striker, not great if we need to find a new winger/forward as well.

It's all very exciting with this revolving door transfers, but we're going to end up with 7 or 8 new players to bed in. It's not ideal. If I had my way, keep Di Maria and De Gea, get a new striker and defender quickly, and let's get down to business.

So far it has been everything you expected and more. In Darmian, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin we have addressed a couple of areas where we struggled last season. The only major disappointment is the sale of Van Persie when the market isn't flush with top quality strikers.

Works still remains to be done: need to find a top quality central defender and striker. And also resolve the De Gea situation.

I think that window still has potential to throw a doozie or two; United hardly ever do a perfect window. Replacing De Gea with Cillessen & di Maria with someone not as exciting are in the realm of possibilties.

Without doubt, I'm very pleased with the club's work in the transfer window to date. In Memphis Depay, we've added one of the brightest young talents in world football. He should add pace, creativity, goals, assists, and a bit of arrogance. In Matteo Darmian, although I've only seen him play a few times, we've addressed a right back position which has been lacking for a good few seasons now. He's reputed to be solid defensively, hard working, and versatile. In Bastian Schweinsteiger, we've added an experienced world class talent who will bring steel, leadership and class to the midfield. Finally, in Morgan Schneiderlin, we've added one of the best performing midfielders in England over the past couple of years, and the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick. At long last, we should have a balanced midfield, on par with ant team in the league (if not Europe). Honestly, what's not to like?

As far as the departures go, I have absolutely no complaints. Nani's time was clearly up, and his sale was no surprise. RVP's sale was somewhat surprising, but I think it was the right move. Despite his brilliant performance in his first season, there's no denying he's no longer the same player. Given his wages, it' was time to move him on. In fact, I give the club great credit for doing so. Teams get into trouble by being overly loyal to older players who are under performing relative to their contracts. You can't fall in love with your players. A certain degree of ruthlessness is required. LVG clearly demonstrated that he's willing to put personal feelings aside and make tough decisions for the good of the team.

Of course, the work isn't done. LVG's rebuilding of the squad is ongoing. There will be 2 or 3 more arrivals, and a few departures. An experienced centre back is a must, as is a striker. I'm convinced De Gea will be sold, and so a goalkeeper will also be needed.

So far, a great summer for the supporters!

Just for getting Schweinsteiger I'm happy. I'd also think Darmian will be like Evra buy for us.

Very happy so far. Was a little cautious with Schweinsteiger purchase, but with the addition of Schneiderlin it has worked out great.

So so good its been so far. Having multiple strong and technically able central midfielders has been something we have missed for a good few years now and I think that we will really see that this season our play will improve.

Players out I have totally agreed with as well, honestly would be satisfied to go into the season as we are now but 2 more players in key positions as many others have said would make a huge difference considering well be challenging on all front's this season.

To have 3 new signings in just one weekend is amazing. I don't believe anyone in this caf would have expected that.

To those who doubt Woody skills should start giving the respect he deserved. I expect another striker (not benteke) and a CB (Ota)

Lastly to end this summer proceeding will be De Gea signing a new contract, which is not entirely impossible.

Yes, We need a very good CB now and we're set. Everything else it's just a bonus. :)

If we somehow manage to get Ramos it would be the best transfer window ever. But Otamendi wouldn't be so bad either.

Absolutely delighted - started the window expecting Scheniderlin, Gundogan and Alves, and we have got Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger and Darmian - which is close enough, if not better (especially hearing that Gundogan was being a brat - Darmian I have no clue about).

Expect a CB signing soon - which I hope is Ottamendi.

My biggest down side is RVP leaving, as I felt he could have done a job this season - although LVG probably told him he wasn't first choice and neither side was happy with him being the backup, especially with the wages he is on. Signing a backup striker of quality is going to be very difficult.

Considering I was happy on deadline day 2013 with links to Herrera and coentrao, I'm more than happy with this window

Very happy so far, yes. Midfield sorted. If anything, we're spoilt for choice now. I was planning to panic if there were no new signings by today. :)

Still worried about defence. You just absolutely know that Jones, Smalling, Evans and Shaw are going to be out injured at the same time midway through the season. :nervous:

Striker - I can live with Rooney/Chich/Wilson, but we could do with some cover that won't break the bank

Just need a forward and a centre back and i will be chuffed. Probably a goalkeeper too. I expect us to sell Hernandez so we will deffo need a forward. Would be stupid to solidify every where else and not improve up top - don't forget we scored less under Van Gaal last year than we did under Moyes. So far so good though.

I'm very happy with the players we brought in. We also completed most deals before we went on tour and showed some balls when dealing with the De Gea situation.

The only thing I think we did wrong was get rid of RVP.

Yes LVG showed the same ruthlessness as SAF there. Don't know what happened. He had an injuryprone season but fit he could easily have stayed at least one more season.

Obviously happy so far. Call me spoiled but i am actually worried that the team is unbalanced again.

On one hand, the existing defense should perform better due to the new cover in midfield but that does't mean it is enough. Further up field, if we don't plan to use Wilson a lot, i'd say we need another signing.

Here is the thing though, I haven't see a lot of the strikers we are after play. And so, i am not sure how suitable they would be. I miss runners to be fair. We have awesome passers from midfield and wing runners now. A forward who makes runs and splits defenses would be my choice. Are any of our FW targets close to this?

I wouldn't be surprised if we signed Lacazette or Kane

Happy so far - we seem to be going for very logical signings to strengthen the areas where we are weakest.

Tie up De Gea to a longer contract, get a solid CB and a world class central forward* and we are ready for a title charge

I wonder whether we will see a hiatus now though until after the tour, where LVG wants as few distractions as possible?

* I have avoided saying "striker" as some pedants take this term to exclude the likes of Bale / Ronaldo / Messi - any of whom I would also be fine with

De Gea to stay
Otemendi to come in for CB
Lacazette or kane to come in for striker

Evans to be sold
Blackett/Januzaj/wilson to be loaned out

Schneiderlin and Darmian are perfect signings. Memphis could become fantastic and if Schweini can stay fit he will be a good Option to have.

Like somebody said selling AdM and DdG will make us weaker though.

Very happy so far. Selling Di Maria and especially De Gea would sting but that's football and it's obvious we have a clear plan and it feels as if we're going in the right direction.

It's almost unbelievable just how many new signings we've seen the last two seasons. I think and hope this is the last summer of this kind of madness even if it's fun. It's easier to build a competitive side with a solid foundation in place.

I wonder what this place was like during the 2000-2001 season when our only signing was Andy Goram on loan in March

Definitely happy. We've finally strengthen our midfield, it's been 5-6 years in the making!

happy so far, my only worry is that we may have 2 unhappy players next season.
Both DDG and ADM want to leave both being told no at the moment, if they are forced to stay it could backfire on us.

Transfers In
Darmian 7/10
Schneiderlin 10/10
Schweinsteiger 9/10
Need a CB and FWD

Transfers Out
Nani 3/10
RVP 5/10
Hernandez?DiMaria?DDG?

Overall im 7/10 on transfers in, another decent name for either position needed wld take me to 9/10.

I didnt want Nani or Persie sold, Hernandez im in the middle, just need a replacement if he goes. DDG and ADM we need sorted asap, make the decisions and move on so we can be clear in our minds. 6/10

So overall id say so far 6.5/10 on course for a 8 or 9/10 depending on a few players

Over the moon with the signings so far. All the signs are pointing at us signing Otamendi also, so in my opinion, sign him up, POTENTIALLY another CB, with either Lacazette or another striker (Maybe go into the season with Rooney, Wilson & Hernandez) and we most definitely will challenge for the title.

So, We still need a CB, ST and a GK if De Gea leaves in terms of additions.

We also need to start shifting players as our squad has bloated somewhat.
IN-
Goalkeeper(Backup if valdes leaves, Starter if De Gea leaves)
Striker
Ramos/Otamendi
(Reus if Di Maria go to PSG)

OUT-
Rafael
Evans
Powell
blackett
Hernandez(if we get a top striker in)
fellaini (if we get a good bid)
Valdes(recent reports)

LOAN-
James
lingaard
Perrera

Something like that would put us in a really strong position.

OUT
Just disappointed we didn't give Nani a chance after good loan spell. Don't know why really. Still need to solve RVP price but it was the right thing to let him go. Hope Evans rumors are right and we are selling him.

IN
I am very happy with what we bought, really couldn't do better in my opinion.

I just hope we don't ruin this transfer window with selling De Gea and Di Maria. We still need one CB in my opinion but we need to be reasonable at it and don't paying to much (like Ottamendi buyout clause). I am happy with strikers if no one, who would really improve our first team or would be a pontential to do that in the future, is available.

Just want Otamendi now, and to keep De Gea and Di Maria. Pretty optimistic about all three of those at the moment. So it's been a good window so far.

I don't want a striker. I'd rather keep Hernandez as insurance and give Wilson his shot.

Pretty happy but I'm not seemingly as extatic as others - I'm not 100% sure if it's all an in-joke about Woodward but the reaction to our signings have been well OTT...good start but still not there yet. I like our signings though and adding a striker and at least one central defender would be a great summer. The key is keeping Di Maria and De Gea. If they go, we'd probably be worse than last year and be back to needing 3/4 players to challenge for titles. Sounds overly negative I guess but...

IF we now lost De Gea and Di Maria. And potentially only signed Pedro as a replacement, how would that summer fair for you.

No CB, lost our record transfer after 1 season, lost one of the best keepers in the world, limited up front especially if injuries
Signed 2 great CM's, and 2 top attacking wingers.

For me its in in balance a bit, as it stands we're strong and potentially could be best summer of all if sneak in a CB and a striker....but if we lose De Gea and Di Maria it could flip negatively.

I think we could probably do with a top class CB, I mean what team in the league couldn't?

But in my opinion the options we have at CB at the moment are good enough to make a title challenge.

Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Evans, McNair. Also having the option of playing Carrick there as well, who has proved to me more than competent playing at the back - some believe he is our best or 2nd best CB.

It's all about staying injury free through and having a steady back 4 for the majority of the season. It was the abundance of injuries that disrupted the chemistry that effected us the most last season imo.

No way would I be happy with the CB options. Last season was the final straw for me in terms of them getting injured as well. Completely unreliable and you can't build anything off the back of that.

I'm happy with all the signings we've made though.

50/50 on a striker because I don't really know what plans LVG has for Depay. Think we might be ok there but again we could be only 1 injury away (Rooney) from disaster.

The big thing will be De Gea going and not replacing him with someone of similar quality. I fear a return to the Bosnich, Howard, Taibi years again with constant chopping and changing.

Im happy with the players brought in so far, but not currently happy with the window overall should it end here.

The midfield has needed work for a decade, but last the last 2 years our biggest problem had been the defence, and so far we haven't sorted that out.

Regardless of Memphis and the rest likely increasing our goalscoring ability for next year, id rather not be going into every game knowing that we have to score 4 to be confident of winning because we can easily let in 2 or 3 ourselves.

1 World Class centre back would make this a solid window. Add another decent Centre back and striker to that and its a very good window.

so far definitely. but we need a CB and maybe a striker. we'll also need GK as well if de gea goes this window.
