Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Pretty sure he still thinks Chelsea have a chance with Lukaku

Not really. I don't want to post the tweet in the thread as it's an old one but he said later the deal is done to us. His sources were from Everton it seems.

Also tbh I think talking about him getting a report wrong about Benatia can be said about almost every journalist getting some wrong news here and there. He's not the most trusted, sure, but no journalist say exactly accurate news all the time. Even Di Marzio had his failures here and there.

Are you trying to faucet through? You may get accused of tapping up.

Like Schneiderlin and depay mangers do make wrong decisions.
Unlike Matic & Dier, CAF was drooling itself over these too with season long youtube scouting... So tbf, we're doing something different for once in a sense...

TBH, I increasingly think Dier would be the least worst addition of the Mourinho manifesto. On Balance, he was very good season before last. He's positionally disciplined, moves quickly across the turf, and his range of passing improved consistently throughout the full season he played at DM. However, the Levy tax still makes it a deal which looks negative overall. 40m is pricey but not ridiculous. 60m+ is a travesty.

Neves and Thiago Maia have already gone in this window for less than £20m each that IS. RIDICULOUS. Especially given United's options at present. If PSG do cough up Neymar's transfer fee in cash I'd be shocked, but if they do, they may be convinced to part with Verratti for £100m, and a Verratti/Pogba midfield is the stuff of fantasy. If Verratti really does go nowhere, Krychowiak would be an excellent budget option. Outside that, the options are very limited ATM.

Doesn't seem to be genuine interest on our part. Even if we were, I don't think Monaco would sell as they've already sold/are selling three key members of their team (Silva, Bakayoko done and Mendy about to go through).

If there is no intrest it makes no sense for me, And City and chelsea forced and convinced them to sell than why not us. In a couple of years we'd be searching for a new Rb or Cdm when carrick valencia and fellani are gone then the price would be too steep.

So frustrated...Milan signing a whole new team, City picking off players they want left and right and yet we struggle.....how in the feck were we not able to get a decent fecking DM or winger by now?? Surely Mourinho has to be asking questions about Verratti since PSG want Neymar so bad. Prices are so out of control now...Ive always preferred a good younger player as so that we can build a dominate team for years to come.....offer 85m for Keita....go all in and offer 100m for Verratti....do something Woody!!!! Matic would be fine but hes 29 and we will be looking for another DM in a couple of seasons and thats IF Matic does the job.....

I understand your frustration but look at the teams throwing the crazy money around. Sugar daddy clubs pumping dollars out the oil wells of the Persian Gulf. In the case of Milan, the Chinese investors have pumped an insane amount of money but there's a lot of short term loans there that could make the club collapse in a couple of years if they're not successful.

Bayern, Real, Juventus and those kinds of established massive clubs we compare ourselves to are not spending huge amounts either.

City doing well to replace their awful fullbacks. Still need a backup leftback though.

Paying £27m for a backup right back is so bizarre.

So much for Guardiola's youth development.
He can cover at right back and left back, as well as central midfield. I would say that's cheap in this market, especially now that means they won't need to splash out for left back cover.

He claimed Benatia was on a had borded a plane and was flying to manchester... he is about as reliable at the luis amor rodriguez to liverpool story... And I think we(United) get a lions share of similar fake news, nearly always from sky too. Seems to be in vogue to link us to the next big thing or as the fall guy who missed out or over paid.

Like Morata for 58M when we were told 90M and nothing else
Bakayoko, they tried to say we were bidding on him, the club had to confirm we were not.
Lukaku, appearently even when we had him all agreed, according to sky Chelsea were stil on the verge of signing him and then the he really wants to play for chelsea but his agent has convinced him to go to united, then to how angry they are at missing out on and now a tax on Lukaku, who confirmed he chose United months ago so all the chelsea stories and him ever being close to signing for them was all untrue.

I think when it comes to sky they just report everything that sounds half plausable and know is all news worthy, true or not. Which results in them being fed some total rubbish and them releasing it.

Who knows, we could "really" be in for Dier and are close to agreeing something. Hope so him more than Matic, with Carrick 36 I just hope we get someone to help him out and if its a 23 year old lump from supurs so be it.

Wouldn't be a summer window without Chelsea signing a Brazilian.

First, Morata's price has been reported by BBC as well, not just sky sports, I think they're the top trusted source present in English football :

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40667600

Second, I agree overall on your view of Sky as I classified them as a crap source some time ago and just reporting what's the rumored in other sources. What I'm saying about that Jim guy is him reporting one wrong report is something that happened to almost every journalist even Di Marzia, he mayn't be that trusted but I find it kinda boring that everything he'll retweet will always get linked to Benatia.

His sources in Lukaku events seem to have come from Everton who denied the agreement to all sources even BBC later on. Our club sources were the ones who told BBC and Sky that we reached agreement while Everton was denying it. Later on when Everton said the deal is completed he reported it's done. He was copying what was said to him only.

Again, Sky overall is crap I'm not disagreeing with this, but I'm talking about him as a journalist only. Let's not forget Di Marzio himself is considered a Sky Italy journalist as I remember ?

It's true that one bad call doesn't make you a bad source. However has Jim White ever called a story for United? I can't think of one. If he was regularly breaking United stories, or even if he'd broken a few I'd put some faith into him but I don't think he's clued in at all for United from what I can remember

Not saying to trust him or not on this call, even though it seems it was broken by Guardian before him anyway. I'm talking in general.

Not when it comes to transfer fees.

They quoted an overinflated price that we supposedly paid for Memphis than even the PSV president laughed at.

TBH with you, I don't even remember what was the price we paid for Memphis.

But which source to trust about the fees then ? All sources are saying the deal is rising up to 70m pounds. Sky and BBC reported it's 60m+addons to make it reach 70m. I yet to find any other source claiming any higher fees.

Di Marzio said 80-85 mil euros which lies between 72 and 76 mil.

Point is you can't fully trust anyone.

Except for the Pogba fee where Juventus themselves released the financial breakdown. Still some journalists claimed a different price.

First, fees are always tend to get overestimated before announcing the deal, as with Pogba when it was always reported to be 120m and ended at 105m alone.

Also, if he's true about it being 80m euro, it still near the quoted price in English media : 70m pound. They key point is English media is reported that 70m pounds as the final fees : initial+adds on = 70m overall but the initial is only 60m. I don't think they're contradicting Di Marzio story that much. Maybe he reported the final fees including the adds on as well.
