Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

How can they sign Costa if they have the ban.

Now everyone will hammer me cause of the stupid question probably.

Similar to what Barca did with signing Turan and Vidal under a transfer embargo a few summers ago.

Atlético would be free to sign any player. However, they cannot register that player until the transfer ban has finished. Therefore, Diego Costa would only be allowed to train and must sit out all games until January 2018.

That seems ridiculously low. Selling Costa for 22m and signing Lukaku for 80+m. Can't imagine Chelsea fans being too happy with that.
It's not my money!

£22 mil seems crazy low but if the player wants out, only 1 club is in for him and the manager also wants him gone it's never going to be a huge fee.

United should have tested their resolve with a £60m bid.

Same as Barcelona a few years back - they can sign anyone, they just can't register anyone until January.
And that proved a major hurdle in Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan's Barcelona career.

It seems a crazy bit of business all round.

Atletico buy a player they can't use for 6months
Costa doesn't get the China move he's clearly been hankering after for ages, and will Atletico really pay more than Chelsea?
Chelsea downgrade Costa to Lukaku but for 50-60m more of an outlay?

Strange stuff.

Mariano Diaz -> Lyon, Lacazette -> Arsenal, Giroud -> Everton, Lukaku -> Chelsea, Costa -> Atletico

This makes me dislike Greizmann even more...irrational I know.

I totally agree with this, his reasoning is ridiculous. They only have to cope for 6 months which I'm sure they could have easily as the CL doesn't even get serious until next year and I think they're more than capable of staying within reach of the league until then. Poor mentality.

Not so irrational now thanks lad

I am sure he regrets the decision himself. But for me it's the opposite sentiment - it's nice to see a player show he has a set of values in an era we all class most of these guys as mercenaries.

So many salty people in here Simione and Atletico have done a lot for Griezmann how heartless would he be to leave them in the lurch like that, when they need him most. Ronaldo did the same for us before he moved to Real Madrid, he stayed one more season and yet he's loved so much still, give your heads a wobble.

Its totally acceptable that he stayed there. He obviously cares about the club, and instead of moving for more money has decided to stay there for maybe one more season to help them out.

Didn't he get more money with the renewal just by stay put?

Isn't it only mid August to end of Dec. That's 4.5 months. And isn't there a winter break as well thrown in there? Players are sometimes out for a couple of months through injury as well. IMHO I think he was looking for any reasonable excuse not to move.

I think it's about 18 league games plus the CL group stages. Logical he stayed another year as he's central to their plans, won't be cup tied for the latter rounds and Atletico currently have a much better chance than us of winning it.

It's only five months. They also brought it upon themselves.

Looks like come January, Atleti could have a stronger strike-force than United. That's a bit of a dirty move having so publicly flirted with us.

But if they know he's moving next summer, they really shouldn't continue to build their team around them. I do hear what you saying tho, I just feel that half a season without him (the first half even) wouldn't be the end of the world.

Guys, don't you think Griezmann will be too old for us next year? He's going to be like 27 and I don't think we should throw a lot of money for a player like that. He'd be probbably good for those 3 seasons, but it isn't a long term player.

Actually Paulo Dybala is the same type of player (their gamestyle is same for me), he's a lot younger too. Dybala will be also physically ready for the Prem next season I think, the only problem might be that he's from Argentina (we have bad experience with most of them).

I like you would be wary of buying an Argentinian player again. The ones we have had didn't seem to settle, apart from Rojo and this lad seem determined that he wants to go to Spain.

Maybe we should give more in Andreas Pereira and push him up front, he's similar to them. Even Lingard could step up with his game.

I'm really not sure about getting or producing this type of players, it doesn't look like transfer market is offering much this days...

Whoooo, that is about double of Arsenal's wage cap.

Basically a transfer request.

Cannot fathom how you think 27 is old... Pretty much perfect she to buy someone. Good level of experience, about to enter their physical peak and got a good 3 or 4 years of top play in them.

Can't buy all your players 18.
