They would have gotten the same amount for Sneijder and Robben today.

Different time at Madrid. They were Calderon's signing. It's all politics at Real.

It doesnt matter who bought them or sold them or whatever, if they sold them today, they would get similar amounts for them.

We will have to disagree. You could be right but I'll ask @carvajal on this.

In my opinion, the reason they were sold so cheaply (Robben and Sniejder) was because Florentino wanted to show how much of a failure Calderon's tenure was. Just my opinion by the way.

A lot of stuff is political with Madrid. Why Perez wants DDG when the manager and players don't.

You think they would miss out on double the price due to politics? Not sure about that.

I left the politics stuff out, if they were Perez signings and he would sell them today, prices would be similar. Di Maria was also in the same region. Madrid outcasts are very good players, so dont care really how much we pay for them.

That is my opinion to be honest. Madrid is a weird club. So anything is possible. Of course logically you're completely correct in saying that they could have gotten very good prices today but I still think that it's not beyond Perez and Calderon to do something like that. Such is their rivalry.

Seriously what is the state of Madrid's finances? They always have to sell before they make a big purchase.

^^Deluded. On what evidence? People are hung up on a player who doesn't jump at the thought of signing for us and acts like a teenage girl . Please God no!

The only person who sounds like a teenage girl is you.

Okay. If that's what you think, I don't know how to respond. He said no because of the CAS ban, not because he doesn't want a move in the future. Why else would he respond to Mourinho?

Yeah I'm with you on this, we want players who if we give them the pleasure of wearing the UTD shirt there's nothing in this world that would stop them not even a measly transfer ban!!!

Florentino did not want his project to be identified with the previous one, with the "Madrid of the Dutch" brought by Mijatovic (sports director). For the same reason he sold years earlier to Redondo (who had publicly supported Lorenzo Sanz, the other candidate).
Apart from that reason, I think there were particular reasons for each of them:
-Snejder played a first great season but then started to party A LOT and his performances decreased a lot.
-About Robben. I remember that I heard on radio troubles with his father (was his agent?).He wanted a star treatment that Madrid were not willing to assure him, especially after the injuries (for which he lost 36 games in two years, according to the cover of Marca below)

Thanks for the info mate. Always good to hear from you. Do you think you let Robben and Sneijder go to cheaply? I'm not sure but didn't Robinho go the same summer for the most amount which turned out to be brilliant as he turned to utter gash.

They are doing ok but are faced with a big stadium renovation project. Supposedly it was going to be financed by IPIC (Emirati oil company who would then get naming rights for a decade) but seeing all the ruckus in that part of the world, they might have bigger fish to fry than to spend 500 million euros on getting their name on Real's stadium.

If you don't want to bring in a player who's one of the best attackers in football, you're just as deluded. Just look at the state of our team and tell me with a straight face that you don't need his goals.

As long as Simeone doesn't move, it's hard to see Griezmann move away this window. United know that along with the transfer ban, the fact that the club hierarchy doesn't want to upset DSG and we don't necessarily want to sour our relationship with Atleti by triggering AG's release that this transfer was going to bw a long shot.

Spaletti and Inter agree to put Gary Medel on the transfer market.
Seems they're trying to recoup that €30m they need to abide by the rules of FFP.

Good luck with that. Who would be stupid enough to pay that gor Medel?

You are welcome. Robben maybe was too cheap. He was injured but played some great games. Even Roncero (a very famous madridista journalist) said that Robben was better than Messi .
I think Madrid did not want to sell Robinho, although they would mind to include him in some operation, I think that the one of Cristiano. When Robinho saw that he was a second option felt really humiliated and appeared at a press conference saying that he wanted to leave Madrid. Yes, was a great business, although his debut game was the best I have ever seen
